Chapter 34: Unfamiliar Emotions
“Nn?… Ah, I slept well.”
I sit up and look at the sky. The sun is setting, and it’s getting dark. I glance to the side and see Stella sleeping.
“Hmm… shh, shh.”
“Um.”
It’s almost night. Should I wake her? She looks so peaceful sleeping; it seems a pity to wake her. I’m not sure what to do for a while.
“Hey, it’s almost night. Time to wake up.”
“Hmm?… Oh? Did I sleep that long?”
“Yeah, you were out cold.”
I decide to wake her up by calling out. Stella rubs her sleepy eyes and looks around, noticing it’s gotten dark.
I’m not sure how long we’ve slept, but it must have been a while since it was evening.
“It’s getting late, what should we do?”
“I think I’ll head back to everyone else.”
“Okay, see you then.”
“Yeah, see you.”
I wave as Stella leaves. She waves back, and then we each head back to our own places.

[Stella’s POV]
“Ah, I still feel like I was a bit off today.”
After parting with Glenn, I reflect on my behavior today as I head back to my lodging.
When I first met Glenn and he asked me seriously for a favor, my heart skipped a beat. But when I realized it was just a strange request, I was somehow disappointed.
“And then, I actually tried to touch Glenn.”
I’m puzzled by my actions, which are unimaginable for my usual self. I don’t really understand why I did that.
“…I’m back.”
“Mm, welcome back.”
“Did you sleep somewhere again today?”
When I returned to the lodging, Liz and Alice were there.
I wonder if Carla is studying at the library? She’s very diligent, often looking for magical books or studying in the library, so she usually comes back late.
“Yeah… well, kind of.”
“?? You seem a bit off…”
“Is something wrong?”
Noticing that I was hesitant, the two of them asked. I hadn’t sorted out my feelings yet.
“Today, I was with Glenn.”
“…Oh. Did you do anything?”
“We didn’t do anything special. We just relaxed together at the Green Hill.”
“…Anything else?”
“Not really… ah.”
As Liz pressed on, I recalled one thing. It felt like Liz’s mood had gotten slightly worse. Am I imagining things? Or is she in a bad mood? I decided to tell Liz and the always calm Alice what happened today.
“I tried to touch Glenn’s head while he was sleeping.”
“…”
“Hey? Why did you try to touch him?”
“That’s the thing… I don’t even know why.”
I feel like I was off today. I suggested going around the town with a guy, and even tried to initiate contact.
I’ve never thought of doing such things before, and I didn’t think I would ever think of doing them.
“Before that, today Glenn had asked me for a favor and I was talking about Liz when I went to get a futon from Glenn’s place.”
“…So there was something, after all.”
“…Thinking back, there was quite a bit, huh.”
“…Hey, was Glenn talking about me?”
“Yeah, he was happily talking about you, Liz.”
“…Really? Fufufu.”
When I confirmed it, Liz was visibly grinning. It’s always nice when friends say good things about you.
“So, I was acting strange today, but do you two have any idea why?”
“Hmm… I don’t know. Alice, do you understand?”
“Isn’t it like when Carla sometimes pats our heads?”
Carla occasionally comes to pat our heads while we’re sleeping. The look she gives us is so kind, like a parent to a child, and it’s very comforting.
…But, nah, it doesn’t feel quite like that.
“Hmm, no… but maybe that’s it?”
“I think so. Probably, it must be that.”
Stella couldn’t find a satisfying answer even after discussing it with the two. They rarely interact with men.
Moreover, all three of them still harbor some biases against men, and they don’t have any male friends to discuss these things with. As a result, Stella was left unsure about the emotions she was feeling.
