Rising from the Slum City of Reincarnation in Another World ~ Gathering, Hunting, and Living a Slow Life by Eating
Chapter 43 Large wild boar.
We took a break and left the city.
Passing through the castle gate, we headed straight into the forest.
After receiving our usual buff from Minya, we are ready to proceed.
Time for forest exploration.
Immediately, we spotted a single Amanita muscaria mushroom.
It seems like these mushrooms grow quite abundantly in this forest, making them easy to find.
“Come to think of it, we’ve been eating Amanita muscaria, haven’t we?”
“Oh!”
We didn’t pay much attention because they taste delicious.
“By the way, I wonder how much they would pay for it at the Adventurer’s Guild?”
“That’s right!”
Minya also realized it just now, with a surprised expression.
I remember mentioning before that the guild pays well for relatively easy-to-find items, but I think I also mentioned that the Purple Mushroom is expensive.
“There’s a chance that Amanita muscaria mushrooms might be expensive too.”
“Yeah.”
Minya squirms and shows signs of discomfort.
“Hehe.”
Lania smiles a little upon seeing that.
Hmm, what should we do?
“Going to the Adventurer’s Guild again seems like a hassle, yeah.”
“That’s true. Yeah, let’s just eat them.”
“Hehe.”
Minya seems to be in favor of eating them.
Lania is still smiling.
“It feels somewhat different today, doesn’t it?”
“Huh? Yeah, it does.”
“Yes, it’s concerning.”
Usually, we can hear the chirping of birds or some other sounds. It’s never completely silent.
But today, it’s oddly quiet.
And so, we continue walking for about ten minutes.
“Grunt, grunt, gru gru.”
“Oh, look!”
“It’s a wild boar… and a big one.”
“Yes, it’s huge.”
Right in front of us stood a massive wild boar.
“Not the ruler of the forest, though.”
“It’s stronger than a goblin.”

In terms of stats, it appears to possess brute strength, and it holds a C-rank status. It might be the strongest we’ve encountered so far. Although, Melun-san and Gid-san are B-rank.
Now, what should we do?
We take a step back, trying to create some distance…
But it approaches us with perfect precision, maintaining a cautious stance. It clearly recognizes us as enemies.
“Edo, it’s meat, isn’t it?”
“Well, yeah, but if we lose, we might end up as its meat.”
“Don’t worry, with my Edo, we can win.”
“R-Really?”
“Yeah.”
I’m not sure why, but Minya seems to trust me. I thought Lania would be exasperated, but she’s actually laughing.
It’s like she has confidence in me, too.
“I see, then let’s give it a try.”
“Yeah.”
“Here we go.”
And so, we firmly grasp our weapons. For me, it’s a sword, while they wield their staffs.
We had enhanced our armors precisely for situations like this, but little did we expect to put them to use so soon.
“Roaaaar!”
I raise my voice to attract attention and charge forward.
“Grunt, grunt!”
The wild boar retaliates in response. My sword and its tusk clash.
“Grunt, grunt!”
With ease, its tusks deflect my sword, resulting in a failed attempt.
Minya tries to assist with her staff, but she succumbs to the intimidating presence of the boar’s grunts.
Once again, I launch another sword attack, only managing to leave a shallow scratch.
“Grunt, grunt!”
I took the full force of its tusk attack and was sent flying.
“Roaaar!”
Fortunately, the boar’s tusks struck my breastplate, preventing them from impaling me. I emerged with only minor injuries.
“That was close.”
“Spirits and fairies, heed my call! O fiery blaze — Fire!”
Lania’s incantation infused the Fire spell, and it soared through the air.
“Grunt, grunt, grrrr!”
The fireball struck the boar, engulfing it in flames.
Surely, it couldn’t withstand this.
Although it still appears to be barely alive, clinging to its last breath.
As the flames subsided, I closed in, thrusting my sword with all my might.
“Grunt!”
The sword pierced deep, drawing blood as expected.
“Roaaaar!”
I drove my sword even further, and finally, the boar breathed its last.
Thud.
It fell with a loud crash.
“Phew, it’s over…”
“Meat, we did it, Edo! We got meat, nyaa!”
“That boar was formidable.”
It was much stronger than a goblin.
If a whole pack of them had appeared, it would have been a dire situation.
I carefully pack the boar and take it with me.
“Alright, let’s call it a day for today’s exploration.”
“Yeah.”
“Okay.”
We make our way back through the forest at a leisurely pace.
Fortunately, we didn’t encounter any more threats on our way back.
Finally, we arrive at the Dridon General Store.
Since it’s located at the entrance of the slums, we decided to make a quick stop while passing by.
“What’s up? It’s unusually early for you to be back.”
“Yeah, we encountered a boar on the way back and took it down.”
“Do you have it with you, or did you leave it behind?”
“No, it’s stored in the item box.”
The skill item box is actually a secret, but such tools exist.
They’d probably think it’s just a tool, most likely.
“I see. I could have taken it in, but sorry, could you go to the guild instead?”
“I figured you’d ask, so it’s fine.”
“Well, I don’t have the luxury to dismantle something that big.”
“That’s true. Well then, I’ll go. Thanks.”
“Yeah, take care.”
I bid farewell to Dridon-san with a wave and headed towards the unavoidable Adventurer’s Guild.
Quickly passing through the castle gate and walking along the main street of the town, we felt like we were in a triumphant parade after defeating the large boar. However, the people around us merely watched without much interest.
It’s rare to see children with properly equipped gear.
Of course, there are some noble and merchant children who take their adventurer role-playing seriously.
Perhaps it’s to avoid getting involved with such people.
If they cause trouble, their parents’ reputation would be at stake.
