Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 15.5
Between Talks: “A Message from Mother?” ①
“Well, now that we’ve had lunch, I’ll go handle some paperwork.”
“…What?!”
Koume was shocked as Ginko finished her tea and stood up.
“What? Why are you so surprised?”
“Ginko… you actually work?”
“Of course! I’m technically a public servant! I’m supposed to coordinate things for Natsuki and other crazy folks, so yes, I do handle paperwork!”
“I thought lazing around was your job.”
“Damn you!”
Ginko, puffing her cheeks, went upstairs to work, leaving Koume bored.
Koume hugged a cushion in the living room and watched a talk show.
Then, she started to think.
“…This might be kind of bad, right?”
It had been almost a week since she started staying at the Yura’s house, and she had been living carefree every day. It wasn’t all fun and games—she got wrapped up in incidents too, which made her feel a bit awkward.
Haruko works part-time, and Ginko has her job. Jack and Nancy are just travelers.
So, what about Koume? She couldn’t answer if asked.
Originally, she didn’t plan to stay long in Japan, wandering from place to place. But after meeting Natsuki and the others, she thought staying in Japan for a while—about a hundred years in angel terms—might not be too bad.
“Mama Haruko didn’t even accept the money we got from the Minazuki family, and I hate feeling like I’m just wasting space!”
Not just Koume, but Ginko too, tried to give Haruko living expenses for different reasons, but she gently refused with a smile, saying, “Young folks shouldn’t worry about it.” They couldn’t force the money on her.
Ginko and the others decided to save the money for delicious family meals or for a trip during Natsuki’s long holidays. But who knows when that will happen.
“…Eventually, I plan to marry into the Yura family and become a housewife, but I know this can’t go on. I can’t end up lazy and useless like my sister Hanako!”
Hanako, the eldest daughter of the Lucifer family, spends her days watching dramas all day or playing online games. Sometimes she goes to marriage agencies and exhausts the counselors with her unreasonable demands.
Koume knows it would be bad to end up like Hanako.
“…Maybe I should get a part-time job. But first, I need a family register. Maybe I’ll ask God to sort it out—huh? What’s this, a phone call? Geh.”
As she was about to search for part-time jobs on her smartphone, she got a call.
The screen displayed “Mom.”
It was Koume’s mother—Lilith.
“…Why is she calling all of a sudden? I have a really bad feeling about this. I hope Natsuki and God haven’t gotten into a big fight or something.”
Nervously, she pressed the call button, and soon, she heard her mother’s voice, which she hadn’t heard in a while.
“Hello, Koume?”
“What do you want, Mom? I’m busy.”
“You’re just lazing around watching TV, aren’t you?”
“…I’m not living like Hanako!”
“That’s good then. Anyway, I met Natsuki-kun. He’s such a nice boy. You can tell he’s incredibly strong just by being near him, but he’s so down-to-earth and cute.”
“That’s right! Natsuki is strong!”
“I almost wanted to eat him up!”
“I’ll kill you, you old hag!”
“Mou, Koume. When did you start talking so rudely? It’s okay. I was just thinking about giving him a little taste. Look, since Koume is inexperienced, I’ll just toughen up Natsuki-kun a bit for you.”
Koume, exhausted from yelling at the carefree behavior of her mother, who is also a succubus, sighed deeply.
(Why does Natsuki always attract attention from such peculiar people, like my shitty dad and now mom?)
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Actually, when Lilith met Natsuki, she was trying hard to show the composure of an adult (though it was just a facade).
