I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 7
Episode 7
“Well, shall we get going soon? Are you ready?”
“Yes, I’m ready.”
“First, we’re going to Sapporo Station from here, right?”
It was 9:15 in the morning, and we were about to embark on our honeymoon.
“Yes, that’s right. We’ll go to Sapporo Station from the bus stop in front of the house first. The bus should be coming in… Ah! It’ll be here in five minutes! Let’s hurry!”
And so, our trip started in a flurry of activity.
“Phew, we made it just in time. It was quite risky, though…”
“I didn’t expect the elevator to be so crowded. That was really unexpected.”
We were chatting lightly, but it was really risky.
We arrived in the lobby on the ground floor just as the bus pulled up at the bus stop.
Since the bus stop in front of the house only had one bus per hour, missing it would have caused a significant delay in our schedule.
“This bus takes about thirty minutes to get to the station, right? We have quite some time…”
Suddenly, I had a few goals I wanted to achieve during this trip.
First, it was the sharing of earphones, something any couple would long for.
Some might think, “Aren’t you married? Is that such a big deal?” But hold on. Since we skipped the dating phase and went straight to marriage, our situation isn’t much different from other couples.
So, I planned to bring it up now.
“Hey, Mana? Even though we’re married, I think there are still aspects of each other we don’t know much about.”
“What do you mean? That’s quite formal all of a sudden. But yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“So, I want you to know what I like. One of those things is listening to music. Would you like to listen together?”
Alright, I said it!
“Sure, that sounds nice. Please let me hear.”
Alright! Goal one achieved!
“Then, shall we put on these earphones?”
Saying that, I handed her the earphones.
We usually use wireless ones, but I bought wired ones just for today.
“Isn’t this earphone a bit short?”
Gulp.
Hmm, she’s quite sharp.
As Mana pointed out, the earphone was indeed quite short.
Why did I buy such a thing? Well, because we can be close when we both wear these earphones!
Ah, it’s not like I have any guilty feelings or anything!
I just wanted Mana to get used to physical contact since she’s not good at it.
“Alright, it’s not a big deal, right? Anyway, there’s an artist I like…”
I almost got caught, but I managed to dodge the question. I felt the thrill of success inside me as I realized our journey was beginning.
About thirty minutes later, we got off the bus and arrived at the train ticket counter.
“Which ticket should we buy? Do you know, Mana?”
“Um, let me check. It should be on this map… Ah, it’s 2,420 yen to Noboribetsu. It’s quite expensive.”
“Okay, thanks for checking.”
Saying that, I inserted a bill into the machine and bought the tickets.
“Well, we still have some time until the next train. How should we pass the time?”
According to the schedule I glanced at earlier, the next train would arrive at 10:20.
“If you don’t have anything specific in mind, can we go to the convenience store? Once we board the train, we won’t be able to get off for over an hour, so I’d like to buy some drinks and snacks. Since we have reserved seats, we won’t inconvenience anyone else.”
“That’s true. Let’s go to the convenience store then. I remember there’s one downstairs at this station, so shall we head down there?”
Saying that, I took the bags from Mana and started walking slowly.
After finishing shopping at the convenience store, we waited for the train on the platform.
“This might be my first time going on a long train journey. Last year’s school trip was by bus and plane, and whenever we went out as a family, it was always by car. Have you ever gone on a long train trip, Mana?”
“I haven’t really gone on long trips. I mentioned it when we got married, but my parents are overseas.”
As Mana said this, she looked a little sad.
Uh-oh, maybe it’s better not to bring up family matters.
But there’s one more thing I want to say.
“I see… So, this is your first family trip, right? If you haven’t gone anywhere before, then we should go lots of places from now on. After all, we’re a family!”
Saying that, I gently held Mana’s hand.
She raised her head slightly and looked at me, but…
“Thank you…”
With just that one word, she looked down again.
But it seemed like everything was okay now.
When she lifted her head slightly, I could see her cheeks turning bright red.
For a while, we stayed silent, but it didn’t feel like a bad atmosphere.
But Mana’s parents, huh?
She said her parents are overseas because her father’s on a business trip and her mother’s with him. But still…
Is it possible they wouldn’t send a single message when their daughter got married?
Mana doesn’t seem to want to talk about her parents much, which makes me a little curious.
No, I should stop thinking about that now.
We came on this trip together, so let’s enjoy the moment to the fullest.
With that thought in mind, just as I reached a conclusion, the train we were waiting for arrived right on time.
