I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 8
Episode 8
“Sora-kun, your self-esteem is too low! Please stop belittling yourself.”
About fifty minutes after departing from Sapporo, I was being lectured.
Since everyone might not understand the situation, let’s rewind a bit.
Fifteen minutes ago, we were chatting about school while enjoying the train ride.
“Has anything changed around us since we got married?”
“Nothing has changed around me. If I had to say, there’s just been a decrease in attention from boys. How about you, Sora-kun? I often see you dealing with troublesome people…”
The troublesome person is probably Ishii.
Certainly, it feels like people started getting involved more suddenly after we announced our relationship.
“I do get involved a lot, but I can’t help it sometimes.”
Yeah, it’s unavoidable.
It’s probably about Ishii. He seemed to have feelings for Mana, and someone interfering whom we don’t even know makes sense.
“Why can’t you help it? Don’t you get tired of being harassed all the time?”
“I do feel annoyed sometimes, but…”
Here, I hesitated whether I should mention Ishii’s feelings towards Mana.
It’s not like I’m worried whether Mana would be happy about it or not.
I’m worried that expressing it from my side might be disrespectful to his feelings.
Even if I tell Mana here, it won’t reach him, but his feelings won’t be reciprocated either.
“No, it’s nothing. You don’t have to worry about it.”
Upon hearing those words, Mana tilted her head in confusion, then her expression turned slightly angry.
“You always keep things to yourself… Sora-kun, don’t you trust me?”
Oops, did Mana interpret it that way?
“No, that’s not it! It’s just that I feel like I shouldn’t talk about it alone…”
“That’s irrelevant! We’re a married couple, right? I think being able to share such secrets is what being married is about.”
Right, that’s true.
We’re a married couple, hiding things isn’t good.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m sorry for trying to keep secrets between us. That’s not good.”
“Hehe, as long as you understand. So, what were you trying to hide?”
“Oh, it’s about Ishii from earlier. I am indeed being harassed by Ishii. But I can’t strongly criticize him because I understand his feelings.”
“And?”
“I heard from others, Ishii apparently likes Mana.”
When I brought up this topic, Mana’s expression darkened a bit.
But I ignored it and continued speaking.
“Our situation must be unpleasant for Ishii. He probably feels frustrated having his crush taken away by someone he doesn’t even know…”
At that point, Mana spoke up, leading to the opening lines.
“Basically, Sora-kun, your self-deprecation is insulting me too! If you think of yourself as a stupid person with low self-esteem, it means you’ve chosen an even dumber woman as your life partner, doesn’t it? I didn’t intend to choose someone like that as my life partner! Please have more confidence!”
This is the first time Mana has been this angry.
I see, Mana gets angry for my sake like this.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m really sorry…”
Right now, I only felt remorse.
I felt a tremendous shock realizing that my personality was belittling Mana.
Then suddenly, Mana hugged me from the side.
“As long as you understand. And I love you, Sora-kun.”
With these words, my feeling of despair disappeared instantly.
In its place, happiness filled every crevice of the void.
“Thank you. I love you too, Mana.”
Saying that, I hugged Mana back, and we shared our happiness together.
By the way, at that time, I noticed that some passengers in the same car were looking at us, but if I reacted here, Mana would probably feel embarrassed and not talk to me for a while. So, I endured the embarrassment.
About five minutes passed since then.
“Well, we’re about to arrive at our destination, so let’s start preparing to get off the train.”
Mana began preparing without lingering over the lecture from earlier.
This is a side note, but Mana apparently felt incredibly embarrassed for hugging me in public.
Now, I should start preparing too. What should we do after we arrive?
First, let’s leave our luggage at the hotel, and then…
Well, I can think about that later with Mana!
Because we’re a married couple.
We can face it together.
