I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 6
Episode 6
Click, click.
The faint sound of the second hand of the clock ticking enters my ears.
And the moment I recognize the sound, my consciousness begins to surface.
After a while, as my awareness becomes clearer, I open my eyes. The room is still a quiet space accepting only the moonlight.
I grope around for the alarm clock by my pillow, intending to check the time. I confirm the positions of the two hands.
It was 2:23.
That’s the current time.
It seems I’ve woken up at quite an odd hour.
What should I do? My eyes are already wide awake, so it’s probably impossible to fall back asleep now.
Maybe I should go out for a bit of fresh air.
With that thought in mind, I quietly leave the room after confirming the sleeping face of Mana, who is in the bed next to mine.
Since catching a cold today would be troublesome, I put on a cardigan and step out onto the balcony.
Outside, a gentle breeze is blowing, and the weather is very pleasant.
The night view from here is surprisingly beautiful. I should thank Dad for this.
I feel like I’ve said this before, but Dad acted as the guarantor for this apartment.
Moreover, since two high school students are living here alone, it’s a very secure house with security guards stationed at the entrance for peace of mind.
Ah, the night breeze feels nice.
It’s probably the first time I’ve been alone in this house for such a long time.
We’re still newlyweds, or rather, I’ve been sticking to Mana without a care.
Hmm, thinking about it alone like this, I feel like I’ve been doing something a little embarrassing.
Ah, this is bad. I’m really embarrassed.
I feel my entire body heating up, centered around my face.
But what can I do?
We finally got married to the person I love. It would be a waste not to do anything.
Yes, we got married.
Ding
Huh? Who could it be at this hour?
Curiously, I unlock my smartphone and open the messaging app.
The sender of the message was Ryota.
“Are you still awake?”
I wonder what’s wrong. Is it something urgent?
“Yeah, I’m awake. What’s up?”
“Can I call you?”
What’s going on?
“Sure.”
After sending the reply, Ryota called after a while.
“Hey, what’s up all of a sudden?”
“Well, you’ve been glued to Mana recently, haven’t you? So, I couldn’t talk to you at all. So, I thought I’d have a little chat.”
I see. Certainly, I’m aware that I’ve been clinging to Mana excessively lately.
It’s true that our relationship has become neglectful.
I’ve done something unforgivable.
“I’m sorry about that. I’ve been too caught up in various things recently. We’re actually going on a trip together when the morning comes.”
“Oh, really! Well, if you’re having fun, I have no complaints.”
He’s a good guy, this guy.
“Hey, Ryota.”
“Hm? What’s up?”
“Thank you for pushing me forward. If it weren’t for your encouragement, I think I would have been drowning in regret by now. It’s thanks to you that I’m not.”
“Why are you suddenly so sentimental? You don’t need to worry about that! I did what I wanted to do.”
“Oh, yeah.”
We continued talking until sunrise.
“Well, it’s about time, so I’ll hang up.”
“Okay. I’ll hit you up again. Next time, let’s play some games.”
“Yeah, see you.”
After ending the call with Ryota, it felt like the world fell silent.
A few minutes later, Mana came out of the bedroom.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning, Sora-kun. I see you woke up fine.”
Seeing Mana smile like that, I felt happy.
