ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Hey, could you move in just a little bit more…?”
“I’d love to, but I don’t think it’s possible.”
“It’s too cramped. There’s no room for that.”
The closet wasn’t built with the idea that people would actually crawl inside, and with three of us in here, of course it was going to be a tight fit. However, the fact that various soft parts of the two girls’ bodies were pressing up against me was a serious problem. If by any chance my lower half got… Excited, there was no doubt they’d both be completely creeped out.
Still stuck together, we tried to think of a way to escape, but as time went on, my back started getting sweaty and itchy. I reached my right hand behind me to scratch—only to suddenly feel something soft.
“Ryouya, you pervert.”
“S-Sorry!”
Apparently, my hand had smacked right into Riona’s chest. I quickly pulled my right hand back and tried moving my left hand instead, but yet again, a new problem arose. This time, my left hand ended up touching Reona’s thigh. Seriously, why was a lucky pervert moment happening now of all times? Besides, lucky pervert events were supposed to be the privilege of the protagonist, not a Background Character B like me.
“Ryouya-kun, you’ve been awfully bold with me and Riona, you know. Ah, maybe you’re planning to take this opportunity to do something lewd to us?”
“I told you, it’s not on purpose! Besides, why would I try anything in a situation this desperate?”
“Hee~ So you’re saying if it weren’t a desperate situation, you’d be trying to pull something?”
“I knew it. Ryouya is definitely a boy after all.”
“I-It was just a figure of speech, don’t make a big deal out of it!”
Even though I was suffering, unable to move my body freely, Reona and Riona were still lively enough to crack jokes. Honestly, it felt like they might even be enjoying this situation a little.
While I was thinking about that, the room outside started getting noisy. Probably the other students coming back after their free time. The more people there were, the harder it would be to escape. This was bad.
“…What if I just boldly walk out of here alone? If I leave first and come up with some excuse to kick everyone out of the room, Reona and Riona could get out of this closet without any worries.”
“If Ryouya-kun suddenly pops out of the closet, everyone’s definitely going to be suspicious of you.”
“Yeah, that’s definitely a no-go.”
I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, but my idea was shot down instantly. Well, thinking calmly, if I stayed hidden in the closet for that long, of course I’d look suspicious.
“I’m going to open the sliding door just a little, so both of you be quiet, okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Got it.”
Reona carefully slid the door open just a crack, making sure not to make any noise, and peered into the room. After silently observing the coast for a while, she seemed satisfied and closed the door again.
“I figured out who’s in the room. Leave the rest to me.”
“What are you going to do?”
“I’m going to get my friends to help and clear everyone out of the room.”
With that, Reona took out her smartphone from her pocket and started operating it. Apparently, she was sending a message to someone via LIME. After waiting for a bit, the previously noisy room fell silent.
“It’s all good now. Let’s get out.”
“…There’s no one left for real.”
When I peeked out through the crack in the door, the room was completely empty. At one point I thought we were doomed, but somehow we managed to pull through. We escaped from the closet, left the room, and headed straight toward the elevator together.
Since the floor my room was on was designated for boys, we couldn’t let our guard down until we got out of this area. Luckily, we managed to get into the elevator without any problems.
“I’m so glad we managed to escape safely.”
“Now we can finally relax.”
“My heart can’t take much more of this. Seriously, spare me from any more of this kind of stuff.”
“Yeah. It was pretty tough to get everyone out of the room too, even for me. I don’t plan on doing it again.”
Even though she said that, Reona still looked way too composed, which made me a little worried. If something like this happened two or three more times, I seriously wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“…It was thrilling and kinda fun.”
“…My heart was pounding like crazy.”
Reona and Riona were whispering to each other beside me, but I couldn’t really catch what they were saying. Probably nothing good anyway, so I decided it was better not to ask. After that, nothing else happened, and so the chaotic second day of the school trip finally came to a safe end.

Chapter 92: Yeah, Our Feelings for You Are Way Stronger Than Even the Gods’, Ryouya-kun
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Today was finally the last day of our school trip. After finishing breakfast and leaving the hotel, we rode the bus to Fushimi Inari. Incidentally, just as it had been declared on the first day, the moment we got on the bus, I was forcibly dragged to the very back and made to talk about romance.
“There really are a ton of people at Fushimi Inari.”
“Yeah, it totally lives up to being chosen as Kyoto’s number one tourist spot.”
“Ryouya, Onee-chan, let’s hurry up and go.”
Though Riona’s expression was the same as usual, she seemed slightly more excited than normal as she urged Reona and me forward. We passed under the great torii gate and started making our way into the shrine grounds along with our classmates.
As you’d expect from a shrine with “Inari” in its name, there were fox statues scattered all over the grounds. After purifying our hands at the chozuya, we immediately went to the main hall to offer our prayers.
By the way, you could witness a sacred ceremony featuring a miko’s dance and kagura music in the kagura hall next to the main hall if you were lucky. However, our timing was bad today, so we didn’t get to see it.
“By the way, what did you two wish for, Reona, Riona? I just prayed for my grades to improve.”
“That’s a secret.”
“Yeah, if you tell someone your wish, it might not come true.”
“Wait, but I just told you mine like super clearly.”
It would be pretty bad if my wish for better grades didn’t come true. At my current academic standing, getting into my preferred school would be really tough if I couldn’t get better grades.
“Don’t worry, Ryouya. We’ll take care of your grades.”
“Yeah, our feelings for you are way stronger than even the gods’, Ryouya-kun.”
The two of them declared this with full confidence. Yeah, with the two of them reassuring me this much, I was starting to feel like everything would be fine. After that, we finally headed toward the main attraction of Fushimi Inari: the Senbon Torii.
From this point on, we were allowed to move at our own pace, so our classmates quickly scattered. Of course, I planned to stick with Reona and Riona.
“When you think of Fushimi Inari, it’s definitely this view.”
“Yeah. Since we came all the way here, it’d be a waste not to see it.”
“It’s beautiful.”
When we arrived in front of the tunnel of torii gates, Reona and Riona started taking pictures with their phones, being careful not to block other people. It was my first time visiting Fushimi Inari, but I could totally understand the urge to take photos. The sight really was that breathtaking.
“Alright, that’s enough photos. Let’s get moving.”
“Yeah, it looks like there’s still a long way to go. Let’s keep going.”
“I’m excited to see what’s ahead too.”
We started walking on the right side of the two-lane tunnel of torii gates. Even though it was a weekday, it was pretty crowded. Hence why it took us a lot of time just to move from one point to another.
“By the way, how many torii gates are there at Fushimi Inari? I mean, it’s called the Senbon (千 本 せんぼん =1000) Torii, so I guess there must be at least a thousand, right?”
“No, I think there might be more than a thousand. They say the gates continue all the way to the summit.”
“Both wrong. The Senbon Torii is said to have about eight hundred gates.”
Riona immediately answered the question that Reona and I had voiced. Looked like Riopedia was in perfect form today too.
“Wait, even though it’s called the ‘Thousand Torii,’ it’s not actually a thousand?”
“The ‘thousand’ in Senbon Torii doesn’t mean an exact number. It’s called that because there are so many gates it’s impossible to count them all.”
“Ohh, I didn’t know that.”
“I see. That’s pretty interesting.”
Now that I thought about it, during Japanese history class, the teacher mentioned that in olden times, people used ‘thousand’ just to mean ‘a whole lot.’ Thinking about that, we continued along the path and eventually arrived at the Okusha Hohaisho. According to Riona, this place was commonly referred to as the “inner shrine.”
“Oh, hey, there’s something weird over there.”
“Hmm, what’s that…An omokaru ishi? (light or heavy stone)”
“The omokaru ishi is a round stone placed on top of a stone lantern. You lift it while making a wish, and if it feels lighter than you expected, that means your wish will come true.”
“Ohh, is that so.”
“Since we’re here, let’s try it too!”
After hearing Riona’s explanation, my curiosity was piqued, so all of us decided to give it a try. Since it was a stone, I expected it to be heavy, but given that it was called the omokaru ishi—the “light or heavy stone”—I figured there might be a chance it would feel unexpectedly light.
With that thought in mind, we took turns lifting it, but… It felt insanely heavy to me. So heavy, in fact, that it was like the stone was glued to the lantern. There wasn’t even the faintest hint of it feeling “light.”
“…It didn’t feel light at all.”
“It was way heavier than I expected.”
“Yeah, I’d like to see the guy who lifts this and thinks it’s light.”
Neither I, Reona, nor Riona felt it was light in the slightest. With stone that heavy, it seemed your wish wouldn’t stand a chance of coming true unless you were a ridiculously jacked bodybuilder.
