Chapter 90: Then I Guess It’s Safe to Say Our Journey to Capture Ryouya’s Heart Is Progressing Smoothly

By the time the three of us had finished enjoying all the attractions at the Movie Village, it was already evening. It was about time we started heading back to the hotel.

“It was my first time at the Movie Village, but that place was really fun, huh?”

“Yeah, I feel like I really let loose for the first time in a while.”

“We made so many memories there.”

After returning the costumes we had rented, we left the Movie Village while having that conversation. The unique attractions of the Movie Village, like the Shuriken Dojo, the Ninja Maze, and the Trick House, had thoroughly excited us. I used to think that the free activity period during school trips was nothing but torture, but this time it had truly been fun, and I could feel nothing but gratitude toward Reona and Riona.

“Thanks to you two, I had a great time. Seriously, thank you.”

“Oh, it’s rare for Ryouya-kun to be so affectionate.”

“Normally,  Ryouya won’t say it out loud even though he’s thinking of it.”

“…It just means I genuinely had that much fun.”

Embarrassed as they teased me relentlessly, I still said it out loud. I figured that sometimes you really should tell people these things directly, so for once, I made an effort to be honest with my feelings.

“I see, I see. So it’s thanks to me and Riona’s hard work that Ryouya-kun got all affectionate.”

“Then I guess it’s safe to say our journey to capture Ryouya’s heart is progressing smoothly.”

“The way you say it makes it sound like I’m a target character in a romance simulation game.”

“That would make me and Riona the players then.”

“Yeah, that’s how it sounds.”

If, hypothetically, such a romance simulation game existed, there would definitely be no one trying to capture a background character like me except hardcore completionists and a few eccentric players.

“By the way, Riona and I fully intend to capture you,Ryouya-kun.”

“Both Onee-chan and I are the type who will spare no effort once we start something. We never slack off.”

“I think capturing me would be pretty difficult, you know.”

Since they brought up the romance simulation game joke again, I responded like that. I was surprisingly in a good mood today given how willing I was to go along with their joke.

“We’ve already cleared the major flags and events, so I’m sure we’ll be fine.”

“All that’s left is the finishing touches.”

Though Reona and Riona spoke in their usual tone, for some reason, I had the illusion that a sinister aura was emanating from their bodies, but… Nah. I must be imagining things again. 

After that, we transferred buses and returned to our hotel in Shijo Kawaramachi. Since other groups were also arriving back at the same time, the lobby was packed with students. After reporting to the teacher that we had returned from our free activities, I separated from the two and headed back to my room. The teacher had given me the key during the report, so it seemed like I was the first of my roommates to return.

I set down my luggage and was relaxing aimlessly when there was a sudden knock at the door. Thinking it was one of my roommates coming back, I casually answered, and the door opened—only to reveal an unexpected sight.

“Ryouya-kun, we got bored so we came to hang out.”

“Now Ryouya won’t be lonely.”

“Hey, wait a second!?”

Standing there were none other than Reona and Riona. Needless to say, it was strictly forbidden for boys and girls to visit each other’s rooms. If we got caught, we would definitely get a massive scolding from the teachers. Worse, they might even hold a whole-grade assembly over it.

“If someone sees you, it’ll be bad, so go back right now.”

“Ehh? It’s fine, isn’t it?”

“It’s just for a little bit; no one will notice.”

I tried desperately to chase the two of them out, but neither Reona nor Riona showed any sign of leaving. Right then, I heard the sound of the elevator arriving.

“This is bad, it sounds like someone just stopped on this floor!?”

“Let’s hide for now.”

“This way.”

Reona and Riona grabbed my hand and pulled me into the room. Then, the three of us slipped into the closet. At the same moment, I heard the sound of the door opening. That was close. We almost got found out.

“….Hey, if I hide in the closet too, how am I supposed to know when it’s safe to get out…?”

“Sorry, sorry, I just accidentally grabbed Ryouya-kun’s arm out of panic.”

“I don’t think Onee-chan meant any harm… Probably.”

I had a strong feeling it was entirely intentional, but now wasn’t the time to argue. If only the two of them were hiding, I could have figured out a way to slip out smoothly, but with all three of us crammed in here, that was impossible.

“…So, what are we going to do now?”

“Hmm, what should we do? Riona, got any good ideas?”

“Thinking about it right now.”

“You’re telling me you two don’t even have a plan!?”

Since our roommates who had finished their free activities were now in the room, we couldn’t just sneak out carelessly. I had hoped Reona and Riona, who dragged me into this mess, had some master plan in mind, but they hadn’t thought of anything at all.
