ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
After that, the three of us continued walking until we arrived at school. At the shoe lockers, I parted ways with Riona and entered the classroom together with Reona. As usual, none of the classmates even tried to look at me.
It seemed that the incident before summer break was still casting a shadow over them. To be precise, the incident where Shirogane-san’s wallet had gone missing, and Reona had intimidated the classmates. It seemed the impact from that event was still lingering over them.
Well, considering I didn’t want anyone bringing up or commenting on the two pair rings I wore on my fingers, having no one talk to me was honestly more convenient.
After dropping my bag off at my desk, I left the classroom and headed to the restroom. Since the opening ceremony for the second term was being held in the gymnasium today, and there would be a placement test immediately after, I figured I should go to the restroom while I still had time.
“The second-year post-summer break period is packed with events like the school trip and the school festival, huh.”
“Yeah. By this time next year we’ll be dying from entrance exam studies, so we’ve got to enjoy it while we can.”
While I was in the restroom, I overheard a conversation between two students. Unlike an introverted loner like me, who was thinking something like “Wouldn’t it be nice if it all got canceled?”, it seemed that for normal people, the school trip and school festival were events to look forward to.
“Maybe I’ll even get a girlfriend while I’m at it.”
“Yeah right. Not happening for you.”
“But I heard a lot of couples start dating because of the school trip or school festival, you know?”
Come to think of it, I’d heard some of our classmates having that kind of conversation when I entered the classroom this morning. Well, it didn’t matter to me anyway since I was never going to have a girlfriend in my life.
While thinking about that kind of stuff, I finished up and washed my hands. Then I returned to the classroom. To shake off the sleepiness that still lingered from summer break, I laid my head down on the desk and started to nap. There was still time before we had to move to the gym for the ceremony, so I figured I’d use the opportunity to recover some energy.
By the way, since Reona had once blown into my ear to wake me up, I had already taken countermeasures and was wearing earplugs. I dozed for a while, but suddenly someone tickled my side, jolting me awake.
“Wah!?”
When I looked up, I saw Reona standing there with a big smile on her face.
“What the hell was that for?”
“What do you mean? I was just waking you up.”
“There are better ways to do that, you know.”
“But I tried talking to you a bunch of times and you wouldn’t wake up.”
Reona said that without a hint of guilt. Seriously, I wished she’d stop suddenly tickling my side like that.
“…So, what is it?”
“It’s already time for the opening ceremony to start, and everyone’s lining up in the hallway. You were still sleeping, so I came to wake you.”
“Whoa, you’re right.”
I looked at the clock on the wall and finally realized it was five minutes before the ceremony started. Apparently, more time had passed than I’d thought. Some classmates who were still in the classroom probably heard my dumb yelp, but at least I hadn’t missed the ceremony, so it was all good in the end.
“If I hadn’t woken you up, you probably would’ve just been left behind like that, so I’m basically your benefactor and savior, right?”
“Yeah, I guess. Though calling yourself a savior is a bit much.”
It was depressing to admit, but since none of my classmates really wanted to interact with me, I would’ve definitely overslept if Reona hadn’t come to wake me up.
“Then I want a reward for helping you.”
“…Alright, fine. Just don’t make it anything too outrageous.”
“Okay. I’ll keep it within something you can do, Ryouya-kun.”
“Please go easy on me.”
“I’ll decide after I talk it over with Riona.”
Honestly, it was kind of Reona’s fault that I almost overslept in the first place. Since I wore earplugs as a countermeasure against her blowing into my ear, I couldn’t hear anything around me. But I didn’t point that out. It probably wouldn’t have made a difference even if I did anyway.

Chapter 61: Ehh? That Sounds So Boring
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“I’m exhausted since it was my first day back at school in a while.”
“My body feels sluggish. I guess I’m still in vacation mode too.”
The opening ceremony and the test were finally over, and it was now after school, but both Riona and I were on the verge of collapsing. Riona looked seriously worn out, but I probably looked just as bad.
“Ryouya-kun, Riona, you both have eyes like dead fish.”
“That’s just because you’re way too energetic, Onee-chan.”
“Yeah. Reona, why are you so full of energy?”
“Because I train every day.”
As we exchanged that bit of conversation, we changed from our indoor shoes at the shoe lockers and left the school. I was sure that tonight I’d pass out the moment I lay down on my bed.
“By the way, what do you guys want to do after this? There are a bunch of places I want to go.”
“No, no. Going straight home is the only option right now.”
While I was completely drained and just wanted to get home, Reona was clearly in the mood to hang out.
I mean, she already played all through summer vacation—how is she still not satisfied?
“I’m with Ryouya on this. I’m way too tired today, there is no way I can do anything else.”
“See? Even Riona says so. Let’s just go home today.”
“Ehh? That sounds so boring.”
“We made the decision based on the democratic rule of majority vote, so you’ll have to accept it this time.”
Riona usually sided with Reona, but I guess the exhaustion got the better of her, and she ended up on my side. Reona looked displeased for a moment, but then suddenly leaned over and whispered something into Riona’s ear, like she’d just thought of something.
“Alright. In that case, I’m fine with going home too.”
“So yeah, after talking it over with Riona, I’m also on board with heading home.”
“…Seriously?”
“Yup, so let’s get going already.”
The way Reona suddenly gave in after resisting so hard made me instantly suspicious, but I figured even if I pressed her, she’d just dodge the question. It wasn’t worth it.
“Alright, see you both tomorrow.”
After chatting for a bit more while walking, we arrived in front of my house. As I said my goodbye and went to head inside, Reona and Riona followed me in without the slightest hesitation.
“Thanks for having us.”
“Hey, wait a second! Why are you just casually walking into my house!?”
“You’re the one who said you wanted to go straight home, so I just followed your lead.”
“Yeah, but this isn’t your house!”
“But I never once said I was going to my house.”
Seeing Reona grinning like that, I finally realized what her earlier change of heart had been about. So this had been her plan all along.
“So, what should we do today?”
“Ahh! So you really weren’t planning on going home, huh?”
“Of course not. But hey, I followed the democratic rule and came home, so you can’t complain, right?”
“…Fine, you win.”
With nothing left to argue, I had no choice but to accept defeat. I led the two of them to my room, but as soon as we got there, Riona flopped onto the bed and immediately fell asleep.
She must’ve been really exhausted from her first day back at school to fall asleep that fast. At this point, I didn’t even feel like commenting on the fact that she’d just climbed into my bed like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Anyway, I’m gonna take care of my usual chores, so just relax and make yourself at home, Reona.”
“Right, you mentioned before that you split housework with Mio-chan.”
“You probably already know, but both my parents work full-time.”
Mio handled all the cooking, and I took care of pretty much everything else. During my hospital stay and during finals, I ended up putting a huge burden on Mio, and I still felt bad about that.
“Then I’ll help you out too.”
“Huh? You sure?”
“Yeah. I mean, as you can see, Riona’s totally out cold, and I’ve got nothing else to do.”
“Well then, I’ll take you up on that offer.”
Since chores actually took a decent amount of time, her help would be a huge relief. I did have a vague feeling there might be some hidden motive behind her offer, but honestly, after being forced to wear matching rings on both hands, I had nothing left to lose. At this point, everything else was just a flesh wound.

You know with tye remake I really hoped they’d make the MC less pathetic, instead I feel like its MORE pathetic.
I dont care how yandere tye girls are, this level of stupidity, densness and negativity would be massive turn off.
I’m also tired of seeing lines like “I’ll never have a gf” when he’s LITERALLY wearing dual promise rings.
