Chapter 54: We’ve Already Seen Each Other’s Embarrassing Parts

Today, August 21st, I was getting ready to go to Reona and Riona’s birthday party. As I changed out of my pajamas into the clothes they had bought me yesterday and was fixing my bedhead in the bathroom, Mio spoke to me.

“It just feels so weird seeing you in those kinds of clothes, Onii-chan.”

“I feel weird too.”

“Well, let’s head out once you’re ready.”

“Yeah, let’s do that.”

Mio was also invited to today’s birthday party, so we planned to go together. Apparently, this birthday party was something they held every year with just the family. At first, I declined because I thought I’d just be intruding on their family time, but the two of them pushed so hard for me to come that I eventually gave in.

According to Reona and Riona, they saw Mio and me as practically family, so they really wanted us to be there. I had at least met their parents and spoken to them before, so it shouldn’t be that awkward.

“Still, I wonder what Reona-san and Riona-san’s house is like.”

“Actually, this’ll be my first time going there too, so I have no idea either.”

Reona and Riona liked hanging out at my place so much. Even when we studied, it was usually done at my place. So despite everything, I had never once been to their house.

As we talked about that, I finished fixing my bedhead and we headed out. On the way, we bought some pudding as a gift, and then went to the address they had given us in advance—but what stood before us was a grand mansion.

“…Hey, is this really the right place?”

“The address should be right.”

“Could it be that Reona-san and Riona-san are, like, ridiculously rich?”

“Maybe so…”

Just from the exterior alone, Mio and I were already overwhelmed. The Yagami household belonged to the so-called middle class—an average family—but the Tsurugi household was clearly from the upper class. They were definitely the wealthy elite.

Honestly… Reona and Riona really live in a completely different world from Mio and me.

While Mio and I stood frozen at the gate for a while, the front door opened.

“Good morning, Ryouya-kun, Mio-chan.”

“You two were taking forever to ring the doorbell, so we came to get you.”

Reona and Riona came out from inside, which confirmed that this really was their house. Guided by them, Mio and I hesitantly stepped inside, and the interior was just as luxurious as the outside. This big mansion gave me a massive sense of not belonging.

“You two have been awfully quiet since earlier. Are you okay, Ryouya? Mio-chan?”

“I’m just a little nervous, that’s all.”

“Oh, right. This is your first time inside a girl’s house, huh, Ryouya-kun?”

No, that’s not what’s making me nervous at all.

If it were the old me, I probably would have been a bundle of nerves, but now I was so desensitized with everything I didn’t even feel a twitch. I didn’t say anything, though, because I knew the two of them would tease me about it.

“Mama and Papa still need a bit more time to get ready, so let’s go to my room for now.”

“Ah, okay.”

“Thank you for having us.”

We were led to Reona’s room and stepped inside. The room was clean and neatly arranged, giving off a cute, girly atmosphere.

“So? What’s your first impression of stepping into a girl’s room for the first time in your life?”

“It’s cleaner than I expected.”

“…What do you mean, ‘than I expected’?”

“Exactly what it sounds like.”

Since Reona asked for my impression, I answered honestly, but she looked a bit displeased. 

I mean, Reona does have some surprisingly sloppy habits, you know?

While I was thinking that, Riona chimed in.

“Onee-chan’s room was actually kind of a mess. We had to clean it up together this morning.”

“Hey, Riona! Don’t go destroying my cool image in front of Mio-chan like that!”

“No point hiding it. The truth will come out eventually.”

“I mean, Reona loses all claim to coolness when she has a habit of taking her clothes off in her sleep.”

I joined in teasing Reona along with Riona, but then immediately realized I had just made a huge mistake.

“Wait. How do you even know that Reona-san has that kind of habit, Onii-chan!?”

Knowing that someone had a habit of taking their clothes off in their sleep wasn’t exactly common knowledge unless you had actually slept next to them. Because I’d slept with them countless times like it was normal, I’d completely lost all sense of how inappropriate that was. 

Normally, guys and girls who aren’t even dating don’t sleep in the same bed.I need to cover this up fast or it’s going to get really bad.

That was the obvious conclusion I reached, and I opened my mouth to make some kind of excuse—but Reona and Riona dropped a bombshell before I could say anything.

“There’s no point trying to cover it up, so we’ll tell Mio-chan the truth. Actually, we’re already in that kind of relationship with Ryouya-kun.”

“We’ve already seen each other’s embarrassing parts.”

Upon hearing that, Mio completely froze. When you hear words like that kind of relationship and embarrassing parts, there’s only one conclusion anyone’s going to jump to.

“No way… Onii-chan, did you really lay your hands on Reona-san and Riona-san…?”

Thanks to those two, Mio had now gotten the completely wrong idea.

I want to clear up this misunderstanding, but… Is that even possible at this point?
