Chapter 11: Ah, Are You Maybe Planning to Take Me and Riona Somewhere and Do Something Lewd to Us?

I began working on the quiz questions that Riona had prepared. Incidentally, it seemed like Reona was also going to study with me too, as she sat beside me working through the same problems.

After an hour, Reona and I finished all the questions and handed the quizzes to Riona.

“Ryouya-kun, how did it go?”

“I kinda knew already, but yeah. I’m a lost cause.. What about you, Reona?”

“I guess… Everything except English felt kinda iffy.”

From the way she said it, it seemed Reona, unlike Riona, wasn’t particularly good at studying—but there was no doubt she was still doing better than me. A little while later, Riona finished grading and handed the quizzes back to us.

“Ugh… I figured it’d turn out this way, but wow, this is brutal…”

Looking at the results, more than 70% of my answers were wrong. To be blunt, it was a complete disaster. As expected, math and physics were especially awful. My correct answer rate for those two subjects didn’t even reach the 10% mark.

“I didn’t do as well as I thought either.”

“…No no, you did way better than me.”

“I thought I could do better than this though.”

Looking at Reona’s quiz, she had nearly 80% correct. I had assumed she did worse, but with results like this, she was definitely on the side of people who were good at studying.

“By the way, how did you rank in the last midterms, Reona?”

“Umm… I think I was around 30th place?”

“Seriously? That’s totally not the rank of someone who’s bad at studying.”

“It’s just that I’m only ‘bad’ compared to Riona.”

“If you’re comparing yourself to someone who’s first in the whole grade, anyone would look bad.”

Considering our grade level had about 300 students, being in 30th place meant she was in the upper ranks. I felt a bit tricked, but thinking in terms of Riona’s standards, it did make sense to say she wasn’t good at studying—so I accepted it anyway. 

“Since Ryouya seems to struggle with science subjects, let’s focus on those today.”

“Got it. Go easy on me, okay?”

“I’m fine with that too.”

Hearing our responses, Riona pulled out the math and physics textbooks from her bag and started explaining the problems. Thanks to how incredibly thorough she was, everything was really easy to understand.

“It’s getting late, so let’s finish here for today.”

“Whoa. Is it already this late?”

“Time really flew when we were focused.”

Hearing Riona’s words, Reona and I finally realized how much time had passed. We must have been seriously absorbed in studying.

“It’s getting dark outside. I’ll walk you both home.”

“I didn’t expect that from you, Ryouya. I figured you weren’t the type to do that, but I guess you’re actually pretty responsible, huh?”

“Oh? Are you planning to take me and Riona somewhere and do something lewd to us?”

“Hey, don’t go turning me into some kind of horny beast on your own.”

I shot back at the grinning Reona. Needless to say, someone like me—who got nervous so easily—couldn’t possibly make a move on a girl. As we were having that exchange and heading toward the entrance, we were stopped by Mio, who was wearing an apron.

“If Reona-senpai and Riona-senpai don’t mind, would you like to stay for dinner?”

“Eh? Are you sure?”

“Yes, I actually made quite a bit to begin with.”

“Then I’ll gladly take you up on that offer.”

When the four of us entered the dining room. A delicious smell of curry wafted through the air. For reference, in our house, both parents worked, so Mio was in charge of cooking, and I handled the rest of the housework. That was also why neither of us joined any clubs.

“Oh, curry rice today?”

“Yeah. I was originally planning to make cream stew, but we were out of roux, so I went with curry instead.”

“Smells really good.”

“Can’t wait to dig in.”

Then, Mio and I worked together to prepare the curry rice and the side salad. Reona and Riona offered to help too, but since they were guests, we asked them to sit and relax.

“Mom’s not back yet?”

“Nope. I think she’ll be home soon, but let’s go ahead and eat first.”

“I’ve got to greet Ryouya-kun’s mom when she gets back.”

“I didn’t get to talk to her much last time, so I’d love a proper chat this time.”

Right. They mentioned before that they found out about my hospitalization through my family. That must’ve been when they talked to Mom. Once we finished plating everything and took our seats, we all started eating the curry rice.

“You two were alone in the room with him, so… Did Onii-chan do anything weird to you two, Reona-senpai? Riona-senpai?”

“Sadly, Ryouya-kun didn’t do a single thing.”

“He didn’t even touch a finger on us.”

“Well, Onii-chan has always been a total chicken anyway.”

“…I seriously have no idea why I’m getting roasted right now.”

If anything, I should be praised for not doing anything when faced with two beautiful girls.

As the four of us continued to chat lively, we heard the sound of the front door. It was probably Mom coming home from work.

“I’m home. Oh, you girls are…?”

“I’m Reona Tsurugi and this is Riona Tsurugi. Ryouya-kun saved our lives . We’re truly grateful to him.”

“We came today to thank Ryouya for what he did.”

“Oh my, is that so?”

Reona and Riona began chatting with my mom. Before long, they seemed to have totally won her over. As expected of two girls at the top of the school caste. They were incredibly good at charming people. As a loner, I felt like I needed to learn a thing or two from them.

“I’d be really grateful if either Reona-chan or Riona-chan could become Ryouya’s bride.”

“Mom, I hate to break it to you, but that’s not happening. There’s no way girls like Reona-senpai or Riona-senpai would ever match with someone like Onii-chan.”

“Hey, don’t shove the harsh reality into my face like that. You’re making me feel super depressed, you know?” 

“But it’s the truth.”

After about an hour of cheerful conversation, Reona and Riona finally got ready to leave. Of course, I couldn’t let the two of them walk home alone at night, so I went with them.

“Today was fun.”

“It was kind of exhausting with everything that happened in one day, but yeah… It was fun.”

“We’re doing another study session tomorrow, so both Ryouya and Onee-chan… Be ready.”

“Yeah, got it.”

“Let’s do our best tomorrow too.”

And just like that, the eventful first day after my discharge came to a peaceful end.
