Chapter 10: I Can’t Be Your Little Sister, But If You Marry Onii-chan, I Can Be Your Little Sister-in-Law

After that, we left the classroom, changed from our indoor shoes to outdoor ones at the shoe lockers, and began heading home. Just like in the morning, the intense stares from the people around us hadn’t dissipated at all, and I couldn’t relax one bit.

“By the way, what were you so worried about, Ryouya ?”

“Since I was out for almost two weeks, I don’t understand anything they’re teaching in class.”

“I figured as much. You were holding your head in your hands during physics and math.”

“Wait, how do you know that?”

“Because I was watching you the whole time during class.”

“No no. You should’ve been paying attention in class.”

Just imagining that Reona had been staring at me the whole time gave me chills like something out of a horror movie.

“Anyway, at this rate I’ll have to take remedial classes during summer break and I really want to avoid that, but I can’t think of any good way to get out of this predicament.”

“Then I’ll teach you, Ryouya . That way, you can at least avoid failing the exam.”

“Huh!?”

I was surprised by Riona’s sudden offer. Even though she had her own test studies to worry about, did she really have the time to teach me, too? As I was wondering that, Reona started speaking with a smug expression on her face.

“Riona’s been ranked number one since she entered our school, so I think she’s perfect for the job. I’m not great at anything besides English myself, so she teaches me a lot, too.”

“Helping Ryouya study is a piece of cake.”

I’d always imagined Riona as a smart, intellectual type, and it looked like I wasn’t wrong.

“So leave it to me.”

“…Are you really okay with teaching me though?”

“Yeah. I want to help you, Ryouya .”

When I asked again, Riona responded with a smile. Watching this exchange, Reona spoke up with a cheerful expression.

“Alright, it’s settled then! There’s not much time left until the test, so let’s get started today.”

“Wait, today!?”

“Exactly. No time like the present.”

“Then let’s head to Ryouya’s house. It’s better if we keep up with the momentum while the pot is still hot.”

No matter how you looked at it, this was way too sudden, but seeing how motivated Riona was, there was no way I could say no. The three of us kept walking until we reached my house.

“I’m home.”

“Onii-chan. Welcome ho—eh!?”

When we got home, Mio, who must have returned earlier than us, came to greet us. But when she saw the two girls behind me, she froze with a shocked expression.

“Hello! We’re just borrowing Ryouya-kun for a bit.”

“Pardon the intrusion..”

“Sorry for not talking about this beforehand, but the two of them are our guests for today.”

“…Onii-chan, can I talk to you for a sec?”

With that, Mio, now rebooted, pulled me by the hand into the dining room.

“Why did you suddenly bring the idol twin sisters from Amaki High School to our house!?”

“Well, they just really wanted to come over, so…”

“I heard about how you saved Reona-senpai and Riona-senpai from that attacker, but I still can’t believe they’d actually want to come to our house.”

“Honestly, I’m the one who’s most surprised. Anyway, I should get back soon. It’d be rude to leave our guests alone for too long.”

Mio looked like she still had more to say, but I decided to head back to the front door where I’d left Reona and Riona.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“It’s okay! We’re the ones who showed up out of nowhere, after all. By the way, we haven’t introduced ourselves to Mio-chan yet, have we? I’m Reona Tsurugi, Ryouya-kun’s classmate. Nice to meet you.”

“I’m Riona. Nice to meet you.”

“I-I’m Mio Yagami, Ryouya ’s little sister. Pleased to meet you.”

Mio looked really nervous. For reference, Mio attended Amaki Middle School, the junior high division of Amaki High School, and apparently the Tsurugi sisters were famous there too. A lot of students admired them, and Mio was one of them.

“Mio-chan, you’re super cute!”

“Yeah, it’s hard to believe she’s Ryouya ’s little sister.”

“I kinda want her to be our little sister.”

It seemed the Tsurugi sisters had taken a liking to Mio. They were showering her with praise. Mio looked delighted, her expression visibly softening.

“Hey, don’t go stealing my little sister.”

“I can’t be your little sister, but if you marry Onii-chan, I can become your little sister-in-law.”

“I see, that’s a great idea.”

“Alright then, let’s go to city hall right now and grab a marriage registration form. Just write down either my name or Riona’s and we’ll submit it immediately.”

They were saying whatever they wanted at this point, and my head was starting to hurt.

I mean, we’re not even old enough to legally marry yet. And really, is that a good enough reason to get married? 

There were so many things I could’ve quipped at, but I didn’t have the energy, so I let it slide.

“Now that we’ve gotten to know Mio-chan a bit, let’s get down to business. Studying.”

“Oh, so you actually remembered that part.”

“Of course. That’s why Onee-chan and I are here today.”

For now, we headed up to my room, and I invited the two of them inside. It felt incredibly strange having girls in the room I was so used to seeing by myself.

“…This is my first time inviting girls into my room, so I’m feeling kinda nervous.”

“Oh really? Then I guess we just took another of Ryouya-kun’s firsts.”

“At this rate, all of Ryouya’s firsts are going to belong to Onee-chan and I.”

Even if they took my firsts, I seriously doubted there was any real value in that. As I was thinking that, Riona pulled something out of her backpack.

“I want to get a sense of Ryouya ’s current level, so I’d like you to try this. It’s a short test I made myself, covering material from the five main subjects we’ve learned since entering second year.”

“Wait. Why do you already have something like that prepared!?”

The whole study session had only been decided after school, and they came straight to my house. There shouldn’t have been any time for her to prepare that beforehand.

“This was something I originally made for classmates who were struggling with the lesson. I just happened to have it on me.”

“I see, that makes sense.”

“Riona is top of the class, so everyone is always asking her to help them study.”

“For now, try finishing this within an hour.”

“Got it.”
