ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Just like yesterday, I was made to help Reona with the class leader duties again today. I had practiced the cheer song, the three-legged race and the play. At this point, I really just wanted to finish quickly and go home.
“I don’t think there are any mistakes, but since money is in play, we need to make sure to double-check everything.”
“Yeah, I don’t want to get accused of anything and dragged through the mud, so I’ll be extra careful.”
“You’re still as negative as ever, Ryouya-kun.”
“That’s just the kind of person I am.”
Right now, I was helping Reona check over the expenses our team had used for the school festival. This was supposed to be handled by the sub-team leader from the third-year students, but apparently they were swamped with work, so the duty got passed down to Reona.
By the way, I heard that yesterday Reona and the first-year class leader were called in by the team leader to talk about the accounting as well. Thinking about that, I compared the receipts with the ledger to check for any discrepancies. Since this was a financial matter, any mistake—even a small one—would lead to a huge hassle, so accuracy was critical. That was why I was in charge of double-checking after Reona finished checking the ledger.
“…Yeah, there aren’t any mistakes.”
“Okay, thanks! It’s more reassuring to have someone else look at it rather than just checking it myself twice.”
“Then once we take the receipts and the ledger to the staff room, let’s head straight home.”
“Ah, wait a second. Actually, the teacher asked me to do something.”
Saying that, Reona handed me an A4-sized paper. It was today’s math assignment printout, and I immediately recognized my handwriting on it.
“Notice anything when you look at this?”
“…Oh, I forgot to write my name.”
The name field was completely blank.
I see now—I must’ve been so focused on just getting it done that I forgot the most basic part: writing my name.
“The math teacher said the handwriting looked like yours, Ryouya-kun, so they asked me to give it to you.”
“Thanks. You really helped me here.”
“By the way, there are two of them.”
I started writing my name on the sheets Reona placed on the desk. Forgetting to write my name on not just one, but both sheets… I must’ve really been out of it. I vaguely remembered writing my name after finishing it begrudgingly yesterday, but I guess that was just in my head. Still, it would’ve been such a waste to lose points over something so dumb. That was a close call.
After that, we finished our business in the staff room and started heading toward the library. Since we didn’t know how long the accounting check would take, we had arranged to meet at the library instead of the shoe lockers. In hindsight, that was the right call since the accounting check ended up taking quite a bit of time.
“Little by little, the school’s getting decorated for the festival.. it really feels like everything is coming together soon.”
“Yeah. Finally, we’re going to have the big day this weekend. I can’t wait.”
“Wow, can’t believe that’s coming from the same person who was saying not long ago that the school festival should just be canceled.”
“…Forget you heard that.”
“It can’t be helped, I will let it slide this time.”
Last year’s school festival was a total bore, but not this year. I was actually looking forward to this year’s school festival—but saying it out loud was kind of embarrassing, so I dodged the topic. Well, Reona could probably see right through me anyway.
The school trip I didn’t want to go on turned out to be a blast, and thanks to Reona and Riona, I really felt like life had become more enjoyable in general. After that, Reona and I met up with Riona at the library and headed home together.
“Did it go well, Onee-chan?”
“Yep, perfectly.”
“What were you two whispering about?”
“That’s a maiden’s secret, so I can’t tell you.”
“You’ll find out soon enough, Ryouya.”
I had a feeling the two of them were plotting something, but I couldn’t figure out what exactly. I had a hunch they’d end up roping me into something ridiculous again—but if it made Reona and Riona happy, I figured I’d go along with it.

Chapter 109: If Ryouya Does Run, We’ll Chase Him to the Ends of the Earth
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Finally, it’s a checkmate for Ryouya-kun… I’m getting kind of emotional just by thinking about it.”
“It really has been a long road to get here.”
“We’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we?”
After coming home, Riona and I got all excited as we stared at the A4-sized paper in front of us. If it hadn’t been for that perfect timing—when Ryouya was completely exhausted and his brain had shut down from all the school festival rehearsals and accounting work—the plan probably wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.
If it had been the usual Ryouya-kun, he definitely would’ve checked the contents of the paper before writing his name on it. Since we had been waiting and watching for the perfect opportunity for a while now, I was truly glad things worked out for the best.
“There’s no doubt that’s Ryouya’s handwriting, so he can’t talk his way out of this.”
“Of course not. That’s why I went out of my way to borrow Ryouya-kun’s math assignment to get the perfect fake out.”
“Onee-chan, you’re such a bad girl.”
“I think that goes for you too, Riona.”
This plan had been Riona’s idea, and I had been the one to put it into action—so we were definitely partners in crime. Needless to say, the spoils would be split evenly between the two of us.
“What matters now is whether Ryouya will act the way we want him to on the day itself.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle that. That’s why I spread the rumor about the confession festival to shake him up in the first place.”
Spreading the rumor about the confession festival throughout the school took a lot of preparation and effort, but it all went off without a hitch. The fact that the rumor had spread far enough to even reach the ears of the loner Ryouya-kun meant the effort hadn’t been for naught. And the fact that Ryouya-kun asked Riona whether I was going to do something at the after-party showed he was clearly thinking about it—so this plan was progressing nicely.
“Everyone attending the after-party will be our witness, so Ryouya has no way out of it.”
“Well, I don’t think Ryouya-kun is going to try to run from us after everything we’ve done so far.”
“If Ryouya does run, we’ll chase him to the ends of the earth.”
We had already sealed off all his escape routes through our efforts, so I didn’t think Ryouya-kun could even run if he wanted to. But even if he did try, Riona and I would keep chasing him forever… Until we caught him. The moment Ryouya-kun made both me and Riona fall for him, his fate was already sealed.
“As long as we have this paper, the rest is ours.”
“With this, Ryouya will belong to me and Onee-chan.”
I was really looking forward to this year’s after-party. I just couldn’t wait for the day to come.
