Chapter 101: It’s Pretty Greedy of You to Want to Marry Both of Us at the Same Time

“…So, why are you two following me into my room like it’s the most natural thing in the world for you two to do?”

“We thought we’d continue our practice.”

“I’m going to help Ryouya and Onee-chan with their rehearsal.”

Even after all that practice, it seemed Reona still wasn’t satisfied. Honestly, I was completely exhausted from being drilled by Shiraishi-san, who turned out to be way more of a hot-blooded character than I’d imagined. I really wanted a break.

“And so… I’ll be in your care, Ryouya-kun.”

“Ugh, I’d really appreciate it if you could spare me just for today.”

“I want to see you giving it your all, Ryouya. Am I not allowed to see it?”

When I tried to refuse, Riona said that to me. She looked up at me with such pure, sparkling eyes that I knew I couldn’t say no.

“…Fine, but only for a little while.”

“I knew Ryouya would say that.”

“Well then, let’s get started.”

“Hold on, I need to take out the script first…”

“In that case, I’ll send you the script data via LIME. It’ll probably be easier on your phone anyway.”

Just as I was about to dig the script out of my bag, Reona offered, so I gratefully took her up on it. Not because I had shoved it in carelessly and now couldn’t remember where it was, making it a hassle to find. Definitely not.

Once I opened the script data, I started rehearsing with Reona. Since it was just the two of us playing the roles of Snow White (me) and the Prince (Reona), Riona helped by filling in the other parts. But her delivery was incredibly flat.

If Riona ever had to play a lead role in a stage production, she’d no doubt be bombarded with acting lessons. Even the ever-passionate Shiraishi-san would probably throw her hands up in despair.

“…Oi, oi, you’ve got to be kidding me.”

“Riona’s always been like this, ever since her elementary school musical presentations.”

Reona whispered that to me from the side after hearing my mutter. It was honestly baffling. Back during summer break, Riona had been an amazing singer  when we went to karaoke together. So how did she turn into such a disaster the moment it came to acting?

Well, I guess if Reona, who was tone-deaf to a shocking degree, could transform into a talented actress, then this sort of thing wasn’t impossible either. Thinking that, I continued playing my role as Snow White.

“Obaa-san, is there something I can help you with?”

“These are apples from my orchard. I’ll give you one… Won’t you try it, dear?”

“But the dwarves told me I shouldn’t accept things from strangers…”

“Oh come now, it’s sweet and delicious.”

Right now, we were at the scene where the witch tries to get Snow White to eat the poisoned apple. Speaking in a girlish voice using my natural pitch felt incredibly awkward, and honestly, I thought it was pretty cringe myself.

At first, I’d been acting while suppressing my embarrassment, but after repeated coaching from Shiraishi-san to throw away my shame, I’d learned to just focus entirely on performing. So when I got to the next line in the script, I read it out loud without thinking at all.

“Reona, Riona, I love you. Please marry me… Wait, what the hell is this line!?”

It was only after I said it that I realized this line had absolutely nothing to do with the original script. Unfortunately, it was already too late. I had said the line out loud. 

“Oh wow, so Ryouya-kun wants to marry both of us?”

“It’s pretty greedy of you to want to marry both of us at the same time.”

“If Ryouya-kun insists that much, I suppose I could consider it.”

“But in exchange, you’ll belong to us.”

Reona and Riona immediately started teasing me full force. It was only then that I finally realized I’d been set up. There was no way a mistake like that would accidentally end up in the script—it had to be the work of those two.

“…Hey, don’t go sneaking ridiculous lines into the script so nonchalantly like that.”

“What do you mean ‘sneaking’? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Me neither.”

It seemed both Reona and Riona were planning to play dumb all the way. Still, while Riona maintained her usual poker face, Reona was clearly grinning, so it was obvious she was lying. Actually, now that I looked more closely, Riona also seemed a little pleased with her trick.

“Oh right, we’ll have to report your proposal to Mio-chan and our parents too.”

“I feel like having red rice with dinner tonight.”

“Please, just don’t do that.”

That would definitely lead to a whole lot of trouble. Then again, I had been forced to wear a matching ring 24/7, so I guess it was a little late to be worrying about that now.  People would probably just think it was the usual weird antics again and judging by what Riona said, she was obviously planning to eat dinner at our place again tonight.

Come to think of it, Mio had recently started preparing enough dinner for all of us, including those two. How did it come to this? What should I do if both Reona and Riona got completely enthralled by Mio’s cooking?
