With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 28- Maya\'s fear?

There was a reason why Maya wanted to see Yuki drop to the last spot in the rankings today.

It was the conversation or rather a one-way yapping of her assistant that Maya had to tolerate yesterday. The said assistant was naturally someone Maya was provided by the Karuizawa family. Maya had no choice but to keep the assistant by her side since more than providing aid, that woman was a mediator between Maya and the clan.

The said assistant who goes by the name Catherine was the eyes and ears of the Karuizawa family who updates about the leading heiress’ status in the Tower and any possible threat to her reputation.

Naturally, the enrollment of Yuki brought turmoil not only to the Karuizawa family but to many other families as well. The grandson of the legendary sword saint Ryouya who was rumored to be a waste toward society suddenly joined the prestigious Tower where only elites could dare to step in…indeed, a reasonable reason to shake up the perception that people have created against Yuki.

However, there were people from prominent families who don’t like the fact that Yuki was growing through grades and performing well. Even Maya’s own blood relatives might do something to Yuki so the annulment of their engagement could go smoothly by the end of this year.

Maya was strong but not enough to fight against all those pests alone. However, her inability to freely converse with Yuki also has restricted her from warning him beforehand.

In today’s test, it would be observed closely how the disowned heir of such a leading and ancient clan was going through his schooling phase.

‘I just wish…Yuki-sama rank near the bottom…’ As a diligent one-sided lover Maya does want to see her beloved shining above all and gain as much recognition as there was to get, but as of now, gaining any more attention would only be counterproductive.

“We will go with the rank so Maya Karuizawa, you initiate the test.”

Upon being called, Maya solemnly walked past the students before entering the force field which would forbid any external interference on her mana measurement.

Drawing her left hand high above in front of her chest, Maya’s eyes began to glow and soon the globe resting over the pedestal also shone slightly with a pinkish hue signifying the outer pressure it was applied with.

The audience watched in awe how indifferently yet perfectly Maya was casting her mana without much residual being wasted. The control she had over her magical aspect didn’t allow the orb to even fumble for once over the stand despite the place where the orb was resting having the vibration to throw off a boulder of much larger size off the pedestal.

Keeping the frequency of her mana input steady Maya went for eighteen minutes and seven seconds before she lost the slightest of her control and fed a little higher wavelength.

“Damn…”

“Her mana control is insane.”

“She isn’t even sweating which means her mana isn’t anywhere near the bottom. Sigh, can’t even think of comparing myself with the lady.”

The students were in awe and they rightfully were so. Even the professor seemed impressed since for the first-timers Maya had broken many records just now.

“Great work, student. Now Anna Willson, please take up the stage.”

Students soon ceased their muttering as Maya once again walked past them. Her eyes indeed traveled toward Yuki for a moment and the way he was looking at her nearly made the girl squeal.

‘Yuki-sama is proud of me… ‘ In actuality, he was just amazed but whatever floats her boat was acceptable to be perceived.

Anna Willson, unlike the aggressive amount Maya showcased, the blond doll-like girl was much on the calmer side.

Anna has long accepted the fact that her mana reserve was simply incomparable to Maya’s, as of now. Even Maya tries to enshroud her aura, that gigantic presence couldn’t get unnoticed by the British girl whose hobby remains in observing others.

Until now, Anna believed that Maya was unparalleled in the first years but her belief was broken after a certain white-haired guy walked in.

‘I am curious to see his results… ‘Anna muttered while thinking about a certain guy who has yet to show his powers in full glory.

Satisfied with her own performance, Anna walked out of the barrier with the results of twelve minutes and twenty-four seconds.

“Not bad, Student. You have found the concept and now you just need to work over it.” Many students didn’t understand the underlying meaning of the professor’s words but Anna nodded in understanding.

Regardless, the next was the third-ranked Ryan Willson and the twin of the blond who performed in the second spot.

“You got this, Ryan!”

“Best of luck, Ryan-sama!”

“Our support is always with you~”

Ryan was naturally popular mostly amongst the females and there were his own friends as well. However, the one whose voice Ryan wanted to hear wasn’t even paying attention to him.

‘Very well, Maya…if not presence then my performance would at least make you acknowledge me… ‘ Gritting his teeth in determination the half-British third-ranked walked in the perimeter before raising his hand.

The same glow yet this time pale yellow in shade, enveloped the orb before the test timer began.

‘I wonder how strong I am in comparison to those… ‘ Yuki was amazed by now to see these people balancing their mana to this limit yet not breaking a single sweat whatsoever.

He has a vast amount of mana since he never stops growing nor he possesses any limit yet Yuki wasn’t sure how he would end up in the test.

“Ten minutes eight seconds. Good job, young man. Be more sincere with your training and you might just double your record time, in the next test.”

The professor announced before many from the audience clapped and cheered for Ryan. However, the look on Ryan’s face clearly told that he wasn’t happy with his results.

Regardless, everyone awaited for the fourth-ranked in the class to step forward, but the professor suddenly called out an unexpected name.

“Yuki Shirazawa, you are next.”

“Eh?” The immediate exclamation arrived from the same girl who had blasted Yuki two days ago when the latter barged into the girl’s room.

Yuki still hasn’t cleared the misunderstanding with her.

Just like the girl, many others began to ask, or rather complain why Yuki was placed at the fourth when a burst of mana made them all shut their mouths.

Even Yuki felt a shiver clawing its way down his spine as Professor Maki smiled dangerously with her eyes closed, at her students and spoke in a sweet tone, “I don’t recall when I gave any of you permission to question my decision.”

No one commented on that since keeping aside the factor of a Professor’s authority to rule by what she feels to be right, Professor Maki herself was an S-ranker who could crush anyone and everyone present here.

Regardless, the lady felt it would be appropriate to explain things so it doesn’t become problematic for the student in question, “Ahem~Well, about Yuki-kun then he was evaluated as an A-rank in his physical testing so it was given that he would be put in the top rankings. So until the reevaluation, he would be an unofficial fourth-ranked, alright?”

Despite having the urge no one dared to argue with her. The girl whose place was stolen by Yuki glared at him but Yuki didn’t pay much attention to her hateful glare and walked toward the testing area.

‘Okay…let’s do this… ‘ Since Yuki had an abundance of mana, he decided he would go with a slightly higher wavelength since he wouldn’t need to stress about becoming mana drunk.

‘Focus and keep it steady… ‘Extending his both arms forward Yuki concentrated on his mana before the orb began to glow with a bluish hue…

When suddenly….

**BOOOOOOOOMM**

A massive blast occurred inside the barrier which made Maya panicked. The ground school violently to the point where many students fell to the ground. Maya was able to sense Yuki’s presence inside but the fog of dust was making it impossible to see what happened inside.

Even the Professor was startled enough that she thought of walking inside the testing area but suddenly a gust of wind cleared the fog and what stood at the place which once called the testing area, made everyone’s face pale in shock.

“How can this be possible…?”

There was nothing there to see since a huge crater has formed inside the still erect barrier.

The older woman peeked inside…only to see a confused Yuki standing there with his fingers rubbing his chin. From the looks of it, he was unharmed and contemplative about how he just screwed up the test.

‘What a damn monster… ‘ Maki chuckled to herself before she went to help the new addition which surely gonna break all the records ever noted down the history.
