With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 27- Delusion?
Inside a dark room could be seen two figures currently engaged in a topic which caused both of them to have a troubled and annoyed expression marring their faces.
“That useless snort…how did he manage to enroll in that academy? Does the administration have gotten senile enough to admit any roadside dog without thorough inspection and assessment?”
The middle-aged man with grey hair and a robust build spoke with a sneaker as he recalled the face of that disgrace whom their family have disregarded years ago.
They didn’t have any hopes for the child of the eldest since the skill he awakened was something that one could only laugh about.
“He was recommended by the S-ranker…but why would she?” The hunter in question was undoubtedly Kaede who gave the worthless heir these two were talking about, a chance to enroll in the Tower.
“Regardless, we don’t need to feel bothered about whether she’s S-rank or not. What do we have to ensure that Yuki doesn’t advance anymore or I might have to do something.”
The man said in a severe tone despite the boy he was plotting against was the only child of the man’s older brother.
The heavy silence in the dark room was broken by the nervous muttering of the woman as she said something alarming, “If Ryuuji’s successorship comes under any threat…”
“Mahiko!”Hearing her husband’s deep and threatening voice the woman ceased her words.
“Don’t even dare to let your mind create such delusion. Our son would inherit the legacy and become the next head of our clan. It’s not my stubbornness or pride but rather an acknowledged fact.”
Hearing her husband, a sense of relief spread across the lady named Mahiko’s chest as she nodded weakly.
And as he said, the man indeed has ideas in either case. Most probably Yuki would be thrown out of the academy after the first re-evaluation. After all, when his son Ryuuji wasn’t able to get admitted through his merit, that dung head would surely be expelled in no time.
And if by chance he does pass the exams…
‘Then I won’t have another option than to target his only family… ‘

[Yuki’s POV:]
A morning couldn’t have been more refreshing and sweet than it was today.
After all, watching the shy Shio go all wild and needy under me was something I enjoy from the bottom of my heart.
Though I went a little too far and barely reported in class before the Professor could have closed the doors for latecomers.
The punishment here for those students who don’t report on time wasn’t just to stand in the corridor and that would be it. One of those punishments, as I remember was to help in the cafeteria as a dish cleaner.
Yeah…the administration is really strict when it comes to disciplining the students.
Fortunately, I arrived on time and went through the homeroom without a hitch. Today’s chapter was also not something I understood entirely but I think I learned something new today.
Like:
“Classification of monsters could be done based on their numbers. Even strong monsters sometimes prefer to be in herds, like the mutated Antelope, but what makes them significantly different from low-ranking monsters is their distinctive aura. Remember that once a dungeon beast reaches a certain level, their mana stone evolves to provide them with a unique presence. Low-ranking beasts would feel like a swarm of bees with seemingly mutual features if you try to sense them but those who evolve after reaching the A-rank could be differentiated easily if one is slightly observant rather than pure aggressor.”
…I didn’t know that.
I actually have a very weak sense of observation when I target any monster. Well, other than the toad dungeon from where I rescued Shio, I didn’t venture into any high-ranking dungeon. But surely now I would be cautious.
Mana observation could be done through my barriers as well, but still, as an alternative, I should probably learn the basic spell of Mana Detection.
“That’s it for today’s class. After the bell, please report to the Beta Testing Hall.”
With that Professor Maki, walked out of the class with her ponytail swaying with each of her steps.
“Sigh…if only once I could get to bang that ass…”
…well, it seems that guy wasn’t just watching Professor’s hair sway…

[Beta Testing Ground]
This place was situated in a different building from the main block and had several floors, for maybe other testing equipment.
Just like me, everyone walked inside the huge hall which had a white floor, walls, and ceiling with black lines tracing horizontally. The hall gave a peaceful sensation but it felt a little creepy as well.
Regardless, following others I stood in front of the barricaded testing area which was surrounded by three feet tall perimeter. Without even touching I could tell that these small barricades were radiating with mana and would prohibit anyone from interfering with the person standing inside the barrier.
There was an entrance for a person to walk in and a metal pedestal that had a broad crown and a purple orb resting over it.
Our homeroom teacher was present here as well, who told us about this small exercise.
“I know you all already know about this procedure but still I would like to go over it once again.”
Pointing her thumb toward the orb without turning, she continued, “That’s a mana preserver and diffuser. The pedestal would vibrate the orb to fall off until the orb isn’t charged with pure and undisturbed mana. Once someone reaches their limit, the orb would diffuse all the mana it preserved and fall off, which would conclude that student’s weekly report of progression.”
“Remember, your focus should be to use your mana efficiently. The first wave of mana you would transfer to the orb would get registered. Amplifying the waves or diminishing them even the slightest, would be the end. Go as slow as you could and balance the orb as long as possible.”
“Any questions?”No one raised their hand and it was the same for me.
It might be a little confusing for me but once I get to see some of the students in action I would probably learn the basics.
‘Well, I probably have more mana than they all could congregate altogether…’
I hyped up myself and got ready for the first test I would be facing in the Tower.
