Chapter 14
I entered the classroom with Mia and Chloe.
The atmosphere had clearly changed; the eyes that looked at me were filled with pain. Some people were looking down, unsure of what to say. Others were cautiously observing the situation, and still, others seemed like they were about to take a step forward, possibly to apologize to me.
The reactions varied, but one thing was certain—the classroom was thick with a hellish atmosphere.
Well, some nobles who had disliked me from the beginning were grinning smugly. These people, mainly the prideful nobles, seemed completely oblivious to the mood, as if they were bad at reading the room.
“Roa, be careful. Those kinds of nobles don’t seem to think highly of you.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Chloe glanced their way and spoke with a concerned expression. I nodded in agreement.
“Good morning, Roa-sama.”
“Good morning, Aria. Um… is everything alright?”
“…?”
Although Aria tilted her head in confusion, I could tell she was sleep-deprived despite her makeup. And although it was difficult for me to say, the way she looked at me had gradually turned into a gaze of reverence. Her odd eyes—one black and one a pale gold—felt murky and unsettling.
“Because you look like you haven’t had enough sleep.”
“…Indeed, Roa-sama, you are so kind.”
“You think so?”
“Yes. Have confidence. In this world, there is no one but you who is as generous, kind, fair to everyone, divine, and perfect.”
Aria stared intently at my face. Her eyes, which had been murky, seemed to melt as her cheeks flushed with color. I felt an instinctual urge to put distance between us, but I held back. Recent experiences had taught me what might happen if I moved away from Aria.
It took a few minutes for Aria to calm down. After that, Mia, Chloe, Aria, and I were chatting and waiting for time to pass when…
“Hey, look who’s back in school, the piece of trash.”
“More like, you’re still alive? Just die already. Trash like you isn’t needed in this school.”
“That’s right. This place isn’t meant for commoners like you. Of course, that includes the sow standing there with you.”
These were the same individuals who had been smirking at me earlier, their voices laced with mockery.
“… Sigh. Do I really have to go through this again?” I thought. I was prepared to stoically accept whatever words or violence they were about to throw my way. But then…
“…Huh?”
Sprayed blood trickled down my cheek.
