Even after getting a girlfriend, my school life didn’t change much.

I didn’t flaunt the fact that I was dating Kana or casually tell anyone.

Maybe some people noticed us walking together on the way to school and thought it was a bit strange, but so far no one had made a big deal out of it, so I figured it was fine.

Honestly, even if people found out, I wouldn’t try to hide it. I might get bombarded with questions from a lot of people, but I didn’t really mind.

And so, I continued living a fairly ordinary life until lunchtime arrived.

We gathered in an empty classroom, where no one could bother us.

Kana, Minase, and I had brought our lunch and were sitting at a desk that we’d pushed together.

Kana and I sat side by side, with Minase across from us, grinning at us.

“…This is hard to eat,” I muttered.

With Minase’s watchful eyes on us, it was hard to concentrate on my meal. I picked up my rice with my chopsticks, pausing every few seconds.

It was the first time in my life I had such a difficult time eating.

Kana, sitting next to me, was also frowning. I really wished Minase would just stick to her “proper” persona. It would make things easier for everyone around us.

“You two aren’t exactly acting like a couple at school, are you? When I saw you pass by earlier, you were acting like just friends. I was kind of disappointed,” Minase said with a sad little shrug.

“We’re not the type to show off our relationship,” Kana responded nonchalantly.

“Come on, that’s a lie! Just the other day, after Souma left, you were all like, ‘I like Souma so much, I can’t stand it… it was both our first times, so it was amazing… I want to do it again…’ and you were gushing about it to me!” Minase teased.

“Big sis… why are you saying that…?” Kana said, her face turning red with embarrassment.

“No need to hide it. It’s gonna come out anyway,” Minase grinned.

“This is exactly why I didn’t want you saying anything! Why are you doing this in front of Souma? Isn’t it too much?!”

Minase smiled even more broadly. “Well, if you don’t tell him, how’s he supposed to know you like him? It’s a good thing!”

“Big sis, if you keep talking, I’m going to get mad,” Kana said, pouting as she grabbed Minase’s shoulder.

Then Kana turned toward me, her face a mix of embarrassment and anger.

“…Thanks, I guess,” I said, unsure of how to respond.

It was kind of embarrassing but also sweet to hear that kind of thing being said behind my back. But I didn’t know how to act. I didn’t want to get too carried away and tease Kana in a weird way, nor did I want to stare at the ground and get all shy about it either.

I ended up giving a strange, awkward response. I was kind of used to being teased, but it still felt weird because, until recently, I was a virgin and had been a complete beginner with girls and never really interacted with them this way.
