The Reincarnated Minister's Second Daughter Wants To Live A Happy Life - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
“Look at these two students at the front. Everyone should take them as an example. I was expecting simple assignments but didn’t expect that there would be those who surpassed my expectations.”
The professor proudly stood in front and praised Caspian and Daisy. The other classmates were envious that they were praised but were also regretful that they didn’t give their best. Even though it was the first assignment and no one expected them to do anything, the professor said they should give their best in everything they did.
When you always give your best after someone asks you to do something for them, they might appreciate it more and like you more. Though, there were also times when your hard work was treated as nothing.
The other classmates clapped at the professor’s words and at Daisy and Caspian. After that, the professor ended the class and went out the door. As soon as he left, the class burst into a loud noise.
“Classmates, you really did your best! Even I cannot take shots as you did.”
“You two are very hard working. Only one week in the school, and you’re already showcasing your talent.”
“With this, our professor will surely talk about it to other professors and take you as the school’s photographer!”
“What this classmate said was right. The pictures just now were all beautiful. I thought we were in an exhibit rather than in the class.”
Daisy was shy when she heard all the praises for her. She wasn’t used to receiving those, but she felt very warm inside her heart. Their words were enough to tickle the corners of her heart that she stretched her lips into a wide smile.
“Thank you.”
Daisy bashfully said as she fiddled with the sleeves of her jacket. Her figure, paired with the faint light of the afternoon, made everyone soft.
After that, their other classmates started to walk out of the room one by one. Daisy also returned to her chair to retrieve all her belongings before returning to her dormitory. She had already received a text from Camille that she had come back from the park and was waiting for her.
As she was putting her things inside her bag, someone tapped her on her shoulder. She turned her head and saw a classmate smiling creepily at her.
Daisy smiled at him and continued what she was doing. Beside her, Caspian was doing the same and also saw the classmate standing behind her.
When Caspian saw him hanging around Daisy, his eyebrows inadvertently narrowed. It was so narrow that it could probably kill a mosquito.
Seeing that look on Caspian’s face, the boy classmate was petrified, but he didn’t quickly go away. He cleared his throat and opened his mouth.
“Classmates, I was really amazed by your work earlier. I just wanted to express my astonishment, haha.”
“Then why are you standing there for too long when you just want to say that?”
Unexpectedly, the usual Caspian, who barely speaks a complete sentence to strangers, said many words at once. In the past few days that Daisy talked to him, he would nod his head and hum in agreement or stay silent. Only the first day, he spoke in long sentences because he was interested in the topic of their conversation. Other than that, Caspian didn’t speak that much.
That was why Daisy was startled. According to her deduction of his personality, the topic of this classmate was not that interesting at all. At most, he could just nod his head as usual. However, even the subject of his sentence was surprising.
What would even happen if their classmate stood behind Daisy for longer than he should? Surely, he wouldn’t kill her, right? And why did he even focus on that?
The classmate got scared that he didn’t dare look straight at Caspian’s eyes.
As Daisy finished arranging her things, she stood straight and faced her classmate. If she is not wrong, this classmate should be the one called Gabriel. He was the one who answered this morning about Caspian’s poem.
“Uhm… Gabriel, right?”
“Yes! It’s an honor to meet someone like you, Daisy!”
“Uh, no…. I am just an ordinary person.”
Daisy waved her hands and shook her head. She couldn’t possibly take that praise when clearly, it was Caspian and her who were complimented by the professor. She dared not to be praised alone. She pointed at Caspian.
“Caspian’s work was more amazing than mine. Meeting someone like him should be more of an honor than me, haha.”
“Oh, haha….”
Gabriel’s laugh was somewhat awkward when he looked at Caspian, who was once again furrowing his forehead. He averted his gaze and stared at Daisy, who was also staring at him. Her clear eyes were clearly telling him that she didn’t want to stay here with him any longer.
Seeing that, Gabriel was embarrassed. He looked alternately between Caspian and Daisy. It seemed like he disturbed something he shouldn’t. But, he had no intention of going when he had yet to say his purposes of seeking Daisy.
“It’s like this. I wish to apply as a photojournalist in our school newspaper club, so I wanted to ask you for some pointers about photography when I saw your shots.”
Daisy frowned when she heard that. She merely took different angles of the castle walls and picked the best one among them. It wasn’t even the best in her eyes, but she couldn’t understand why this classmate wanted to have her as his mentor.
Objectively speaking, Caspian was better than her if they were talking about photography skills. It just so happened that the professor stumbled upon her work first. It somehow happened like that.
Daisy waved her hand at Gabriel and politely declined his request.
“I’m sorry, but I think I cannot be of any help. I am not a pro.”
“How about we talk about it with a meal? I think that would help you decide.”
“Uhm….”
“You should not force someone who already refused.”
Once again, Caspian’s voice rang in the room. As they were the only ones left inside and all their other classmates had left, his voice echoed throughout the room. It carries an invisible heavy weight and firmness.
Daisy looked at Caspian. She wondered what Caspian was even doing here, staying instead of going.
Gabriel was rendered speechless and stood there rigidly, sweat running down his spine. Caspian’s expression was scarier now than earlier.
Gabriel didn’t know why he felt scared when he didn’t even do anything wrong. He also had no idea why Caspian carried such a scary aura when he was barely an adult. Caspian’s stare was enough for Gabriel to tremble in fear. Of course, Daisy didn’t notice it (did you ever see any female lead catching that?).
“Uhm… I really can’t be of any help, Gabriel.”
“Then at least have a meal with me.”
Caspian nearly flipped the chair near him when he heard that.
Oblivious to this, Daisy frowned and awkwardly laughed. She really didn’t know what to do with this pushy guy.
She felt someone tugging on her jacket when she was at a loss for what to do. She looked at Caspian with a bewildered look. Sir, what’s with you all of a sudden?
“Didn’t we plan to research together in the library earlier?”
“Research in the library…?”
Daisy confusedly asked the smiling Caspian. The latter grabbed her books and started walking past Gabriel without looking back. Daisy was puzzled, but she also wanted to get away from Gabriel, who was pushing her too much (at least in her opinion) to mentor him in photography.
Daisy felt grateful for Caspian, indirectly dragging her away from Gabriel. She looked back at Gabriel, standing there, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
“Uhm… I’m sorry. I forgot I have business after class. Then, I will get going first. See you around.”
“Ah….”
Gabriel stretched his hand to pull her back, but Daisy quickly disappeared on the door with Caspian. When he saw how she was quick with her feet and legs, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
“This classmate is very interesting. Daisy Annesley?”
Thinking of her pair of clear brown eyes, something about Daisy made him interested suddenly. It was initially because of the photos, but when he looked at her eyes, it only made him more interested in her.
‘But that guy….’
Gabriel raised his eyebrows when he recalled the fear he felt as he looked at Caspian. It wasn’t normal for a guy to suddenly make that expression, unless….
“Unless, of course, there’s something between them.”
Caspian looked at Gabriel as if he was looking at an enemy. More than anything, he saw Caspian clenching his fist tightly so that his knuckles turned white. He was even gritting his teeth. But all of that disappeared when Daisy turned her head to him.
Caspian’s expression suddenly became soft, as if everything that Gabriel saw was only a part of his imagination. It was hard to imagine that a first-year student was that smooth in changing expressions.
The way Caspian looked makes people want to be closer to him but keep them at arm’s length. But towards Daisy, it was the exact opposite. He seemed to want to keep her close without being obvious.
“Really… interesting.”
Gabriel smirked and walked out of the room. The afternoon wind blew coldly from outside the window.
