The S-Class Beautiful Sisters at My New School Somehow Got Super Attached to Me and Ended Up Becoming Yandere Without Me Even Realizing It - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
♤
“Haa…”
I hung up after talking with Yuzuki-san on the phone and just flopped straight down onto the bed.
I went to the café super early in the morning, then headed all the way to the next town after that.
Yeah, I’m pretty wiped out.
But… it’s not the bad kind of tired.
Maybe this is what people mean by feeling fulfilled?
Today felt kinda unreal, like, half the day didn’t even happen for real.
“Mizuki-san really knows a ton of stuff… she’s seriously like a big sister.”
She’s stylish, her taste in books matches mine perfectly, and she’s super easy to talk to.
I can’t even picture her being the hard-to-approach person Nakanishi used to make her sound like.
Oh right—I gotta tell Grandma later that there’s a girl who wants to learn cooking from her.
And Yuzuki-san too.
She actually called because she was worried about me.
She seems really strong-willed, but she’s surprisingly thoughtful toward other people, huh.
Good thing I bought the book.
I’m curious what’s inside too, but since it’s a souvenir for Yuzuki-san, opening it first would be kinda messed up, right?
Tomorrow again, huh…
Pretty sure this is the first time my weekend’s ever been this packed.
◇
“Morning, Grandma.”
Sunday morning.
When I walked into the kitchen, Grandma was already eating breakfast.
“Morning, Asuka.”
“Huh? Where’s Grandpa?”
“He went out to play golf.”
“Man, he’s got so much energy, seriously.”
“Really though. Aren’t your friends coming over today?”
“Oh—right, yeah. A friend’s coming by later to pick up a book.”
“Oh? The one from yesterday?”
“Uh, well, about that—”
ding-dong
Right when I was about to explain to Grandma, the doorbell rang.
I had a feeling, so I hurried to the entrance and opened the door.
“M-morning…”
“Mizuki-sa—wait, no… Yuzuki-san?”
There stood Yuzuki-san with her hair down, wearing a T-shirt and jeans.
“Oh… so I didn’t get it wrong.”
“Y-yeah, of course I can tell. You didn’t tie your hair up today.”
“I was wondering if… maybe you’d like this side better…”
“Huh?”
“N-nothing! Anyway, I came to pick up the book.”
“Oh right, yeah. Hang on a sec.”
While I rushed back to my room, the image of Yuzuki-san just now burned itself into my brain.
She looked even more like Mizuki-san today.
I already knew Yuzuki-san was the one coming, so I didn’t mix them up… but yeah, I totally get why other people would mistake them.
“Uh…”
I grabbed the book I bought yesterday and hurried back out.
When I got to the entrance again, Yuzuki-san was gone.
“H-huh?”
“Asuka, I let your guest into the living room.”
“Grandma? W-wait, really?”
Now that I looked, Yuzuki-san’s shoes were neatly lined up at the entrance.
I rushed to the living room and there she was—sitting very properly on a cushion, looking super awkward.
“S-sorry for the wait. My bad, Grandma just—”
“N-no, I’m the one who should be sorry for barging in like this. I tried to say no to your grandma but…”
“She’s just like that, don’t worry about it. Anyway, here’s the book we talked about yesterday.”
I handed her the book still inside the bag. Her tense face finally softened a little.
“Thanks for going out of your way.”
“Nah, I should be thanking you—and Mizuki-san too, she really helped me out a lot.”
“Helped you out… a lot? What exactly did you and Mizuki do?”
“Huh? Uh, we just went to a café, then stopped by the bookstore… that’s about it?”
“You ate lunch together too, right?”
“Oh, uh, nah—we just bought some hamburgers there and brought them home, that’s all.”
“…Oh. Okay. Well… I’ll read this when I get home then.”
Right when Yuzuki-san was about to stand up, Grandma came in carrying tea and snacks.
“Come on now, at least have some tea and sweets before you go.”
“Ah—no, really, I shouldn’t impose—”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. You’re my grandson’s friend. Was the girl who came yesterday your older sister?”
“Y-yeah… wait—yesterday the person who came… you didn’t think she was the older sister?”
Yuzuki-san sat back down, eyes wide, staring at Grandma in surprise.
Grandma just chuckled softly and said, “Not even close.”
“R-really…?”
“Are you two twins by any chance? I actually have a twin too, you know.”
“Huh?”
The surprised sound didn’t just come from Yuzuki-san.
Honestly, my voice came out way louder.
“Grandma, you’re a twin?!”
“Mhm. Oh right—that girl’s been living overseas almost her whole life, so you only met her when you were really little, Asuka.”
“I don’t remember that at all…”
“We used to be pretty famous around here as the ‘look-alike sisters,’ you know〜”
Grandma laughed “hohoho” with a slightly shy smile.
“S-so… did you have a lot of troubles because of that, Grandma?”
Yuzuki-san leaned forward eagerly. Grandma looked up a little, thinking.
“Well… yes, getting mixed up all the time was a hassle sometimes. But Grandpa—he always knew right away which one was me. That made me so happy.”
“…I see.”
Yuzuki-san listened with a very serious expression, nodding several times like something finally clicked for her.
So yeah… even twins have their own twin-specific struggles, huh.
“Oh dear, I talked too much. Well, you two take your time.”
“Um—Grandma.”
Yuzuki-san quickly called out just as Grandma was about to leave the room.
“Yes?”
“Um… can I ask just one thing?”
“Of course, dear.”
“I’m… the younger sister. I have an older twin sister… so, Grandma… which one were you? The older or the younger?”
She stared straight at Grandma with a very earnest look.
I tilted my head, having no idea why she asked that.
Grandma glanced at me for a second, then leaned close to Yuzuki-san’s ear and whispered so I couldn’t hear.
“I was the younger one.”
She answered, then quickly slipped out of the room.
