- Chapter 60- Explain things?
Ryuuji kept on holding on to Mika with all his worth without letting any room for her to escape from his embrace since a very dark feeling was making him terrified at moment. The thought that she would disappear from his life as soon Ryuuji lets her go, was making the boy restlessly whisper out his plea and endure all the protests Mika brought up.
He heard all her complaints and how much she hates him, in return, he accepted everything and continuously assured her that he would never go away anymore despite how much she tried.
Ryuuji knows he has hurt her deeply but the thought that him being with some other girl could incur such pain in Mika signifies the deep affection she carries for him. And that was enough for Ryuuji to keep on trying until Mika finally conceded and left her powerless and exhausted body in his arms.
She has been awake since last night and has been crying for hours. Her current consciousness was only pulled together due to the sheer will Mika has put behind since she wanted to hear him out. Despite showing her hatred and disappointment in him, Mika wanted to hear what he had to say. She hoped all the things which have been making her anxious since last night proves to be nothing but a misunderstanding. What she saw…Mika wanted to render it as an illusion and wanted to hold Ryuuji in the same manner as he was.
She wanted to make up with him and return to their happy life. She was desperate to listen to what he had to say, so letting her mind doze off was something Mika could not allow currently.
“You better now?”
Mika didn’t reply before she heard him sighing in relief, probably. He dragged her along with him to the bed before making her sit….on his lap!
“L-Let me go! I can sit there-”
“You are not going anywhere at all, until you hear what I have to say, understand?”
Mika glared at him weakly, her sluggish eyes doing their best to look intimidating but in return what she saw from Ryuuji was pure indifference like it didn’t matter how hard she was glaring at him.
Mika gave up soon, and let herself get adjusted into a comfortable position. Ryuuji helped her before the girl found herself sitting in between his legs and his arms encircling her waist as he owns it. The most problematic thing was when he interjected his finger to make a proper cage for Mika, the back of the hand rested just in front of that place of hers!
“If you move your fingers even a bit, I will bite you to death.”
Mika side glanced at him with still her eyes narrowed in threat, but again, it didn’t seem it affected him.
Nodding with a toothy grin, Ryuuji felt like hugging the adorable little girl once again but he held it back since it was time for a better conversation to make.
Organizing his thoughts Ryuuji thought about what he should be saying first. From where he should start this or what he should say to get her forgiveness? But how much he thought, Ryuuji felt nothing would work if he doesn’t let it out naturally.
So sighing once again he held her hand fondly before his warm voice rang from behind her.
“I took a wrong decision yesterday, Miku, and that was to trust someone whom I believed to be a great friend of mine.” He took a pause, discarding Sakura’s face from his mind before he continued, “I went along with her and did what she asked me without thinking of what ploy she might have in mind for an inexplicable motive.”
Mika stayed silent as she let him organize his thoughts and waited patiently before he spoke up again.
“I don’t know why but last night she took me away with her and suddenly asked me to close my eyes. I was not sure why that was but to her borderline begging, I gave in before suddenly Sakura did…that…just right at the moment when you were approaching us. And when you saw the scene she deliberately pretended that it was just a casual thing to happen between us, even though I never, I swear on my life, never agreed to kiss her.”
“Then Naomi told me afterward…that Sakura has changed. She no longer was the same cheery and helpful girl but has become someone who looks around for a partner to play along with. I neither am judging Sakura nor taking her as a shield in this matter but trust me Akira when I say this. I, neither, had nor currently have any kind of feeling toward her. And you probably have judged me by now, that I never go after a physical relationship just on a whim nor do I get easily swayed by temptations. It was a non-consensual thing. So please trust me this once Miku and I promise you, that nothing like what happened yesterday would occur ever in the future.”
Mika was silent the whole time. She never interjected nor showed any sign of affirming his words. She was just listening to him with her entire focus with nothing sort of thoughts passing through her mind.
Ryuuji was tensed as he awaited her next words. He didn’t fabricate anything nor he blamed Sakura for what happened. It was his fault that he let such a thing proceed in the first place but that didn’t mean he was willing with what she did. He could never imagine himself with anyone but Mika and he tried to convey the same thing it through his words.
Ryuuji just hoped that Mika understand what he was trying to say. What he currently was feeling and how grieving it was for him to see her in this state.
The room was left in dead silence for more than five minutes, with Ryuuji patiently waiting for Mika to say something, and the latter was finally able to entirely register what had transpired the last day.
But far apart from Ryuuji’s expectation, what Mika said after turning herself toward him, was completely out of the blue!
“Will you marry me, Ryuu-kun?”
