- Chapter 59- I always respected your feelings!
**Knock*Knock**
Ryuuji had barely felt this much nervous blended with anxiety before as he was at the moment. Even at the time when he first confessed his love for Mika, he didn’t feel much from it, but right now…he was beyond worked up.
He mustered up the courage after waiting for like an eternity at her door before he tapped twice on the door.
His heartbeat was racing like hundred miles per second with breathing slightly unsteady because he knew this would be going to not end up well considering the disappointment and rage he saw in Mika’s eyes last night when she walked away after slapping him.
Even so, Ryuuji waited for more than half a minute but no movement transpired from the other side, as he expected. It does without saying that Mika was ignoring him and most probably would be crying right now.
But Ryuuji has steeled his resolve that he would not walk away from here until he doesn’t at least see Mika’s face for once in person.
Ryuuji contemplated for a bit about what he should be saying to appease Mika but no sort of idea came to his mind.
‘Well, screw it… ‘
Throwing away the thoughts of coming up with made-up words, Ryuuji just decided to go along with his instincts and say what he really felt.
“I-I know you-”
**CLICK**
***DHAK***
“Huh?”
It happened in a flash when Ryuuji just began to speak his apology when suddenly the door clicked open and a dainty hand pulled him by the collar and threw him on something soft with such strength that made Ryuuji doubt his own physicality growing weak.
One moment he was hyping himself to face the endless ignorance of Mika and another he was in front of those precious favorite pair of eyes that he could never grow tired of gawking at.
But that moisture building in her ruby-red eyes elevated the stress on his heart as Ryuuji instinctively raised his hand to hold her face only to get rejected as Mika moved away with some shaky words escaping out her thin lips.
“Don’t touch me…”
For more than ten seconds, Ryuuji was unable to comprehend what just happened. His hand was still stretched as the feeling he was about to feel after what seemed a long period, actually never arrived.
But soon he recovered and got up from the bed before fixing his gaze on the single person beside him.
Mika was currently doing something near her desk, seemingly taking something out. Ryuuji was about to say something when she turned around and showed him a box he was familiar with.
“Y-You remember this present you gave on valentines two years ago?”
Her eyes were still raining and words were barely audible but since Ryuuji’s whole attention was converged on the girl he was able to hear what she said and was rather surprised to see the present in her hand which Ryuuji believed was thrown away.
Mika has never cared about his presents or anything related to Ryuuji in the past so seeing something like two years old was undoubtedly surprising for him.
“E-even I didn’t reciprocate your f-feelings… I still respected them….”
Ryuuji’s throat felt heavier than before and his heart sank in beats with his body growing numb as he saw her taking something out once again. This time it was a hairpin, which Ryuuji remembered to be another gift he gave during the summer festival when he saw Mika in a yukata for the first time.
“T-This… I said it’s ugly and all…a-and even threw it the night when we fought…but I never allowed myself to separate myself from it…”
It didn’t stop with just the hairpin but went to the fountain pen he gave her on her birthday and another small present on valentines last year followed by a teddy bear and even wrappers of already eaten chocolates.
She…actually has been mindful of him ever since he first appears in her life and despite rejecting his entire existence, Mika never denied his feelings as not being genuine. She knew he loved her by all his worth and Mika admired such feelings toward her even though she never felt like responding to them.
“I have always….always….held your feelings for me in high regard even though I was mean to you. But what did you do to me Ryuuji?! After promising that you only love me yet..yet you…”
Mika never gave answer to his feelings but she didn’t allow herself to see anyone else as well even though she was confessed by a lot in these years in high school. But it seemed like expecting the same from Ryuuji was just a wishful fantasy from her side.
“Mika…”
Ryuuji was no longer able to hold back before he leaped his steps toward the girl before wrapping his hand around her and embracing the girl in a tight hug, not minding the protest he felt from her.
“L-Let go… Let go!!”
Mika wriggled and tried to force her way out of his arms but this warmth….This damn warmth and his intoxicating odor were making it difficult to keep up with her struggle as her movement paced down and down.
After what seemed like a minute Mika entirely halted and just stood there with her arms hanging down. Emotions swirled inside her like a whirlwind and her eyes which were just about to dry up again began moistening before heavy sobs resonated throughout the room.
But this time there was someone to comfort the girl and let her know that he was not going to let go of her….ever again.
