The Nurse’s Office Angel Only Acts Sweet to Me Again Today ~ I Was Kind to a Beautiful Girl Who Goes to the Nurse’s Office and She Became Attached to Me ~ - Chapter 3: The Secret of the Angel
Chapter 3: The Secret of the Angel
In front of the restroom, the Angel had suddenly fallen asleep, but at the request of the school nurse, Sano-sensei, I ended up carrying her on my back to the Nurse’s Office.
I could feel the warmth of the Angel’s body against my back as I started walking toward the Nurse’s Office with Sano-sensei.
When I actually carried the Angel, I was shocked at how surprisingly light she was.
To describe the sensation, it was as light as a school backpack left nearly empty after stashing all the textbooks at school.
Everyone might call her “Angel” because of her cute appearance, but to me, carrying her on my back, it almost felt like she had wings, floating so lightly it was like an illusion.
“Nukumori-kun, you must’ve noticed while carrying her, but Yukino is unusually light, isn’t she?”
“Y-Yes.”
Sano-sensei, the school nurse, seemed to pick up on my surprise and started asking about Yukino.
“Yukino has had a complicated life. Apparently, after her father passed away when she was young, she went through a tough period of poverty… and that’s why her appetite became extremely small.”
“Tch, something that tough happened to her?”
“Oh, but don’t worry, Nukumori-kun! Her mother’s business has apparently been quite successful now, so Yukino lives like a proper young lady in a huge mansion in one of Tokyo’s prime districts.”
A prime district!? A young lady!?
So, she’s filthy rich now?
Her mom must be incredible…
“Ugh, and here I am, a graduate of a prestigious Tokyo university, earning just a measly monthly salary and living in a rundown apartment. Honestly, Yukino’s got it good.”
“Why are you getting jealous over that? A teacher shouldn’t be jealous of a student. It’s embarrassing.”
“Hey! Did you just call me embarrassing to my face? That’s not okay!”
Is this perky school nurse a child or what?
We kept talking like that as we made our way to the Nurse’s Office.
“Alright then. Let’s lay Yukino on the bed for now and have a little chat time, shall we?”
“Huh? Sure, I guess.”
Chat time…?
Feeling a bit thrown off by the teacher’s enthusiasm, I stepped into the Nurse’s Office and gently placed the Angel on the bed.
The Angel was still breathing softly, “suu… suu…” in an adorable way as she slept.
Her pure white skin and long, light-colored straight hair.
With her eyes closed like this, she almost seemed like a futuristic android or an intricately crafted doll.
There was a delicate beauty to her, almost like she was a work of art.
“Yukino’s cute, isn’t she? Like an angel.”
“Everyone calls her the Angel. The Angel of the Nurse’s Office.”
“The Angel of the Nurse’s Office… huh?”
Sano-sensei sat at her desk, crossing her legs in a sultry, boss-like manner, and gave me a seductive look.
This woman… she’s way too unnecessarily sexy for someone in her first year out of college.
“Do you know why she fell asleep like that?”
“Uh, well… maybe a sleep disorder? Like, she couldn’t sleep at night and just dozed off suddenly.”
Caught off guard by the question, I blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“That’s close, but not quite right.”
“Then… what is it?”
When I asked, Sano-sensei stood up and started writing something on the Nurse’s Office blackboard with chalk.
“Do you know about this illness?”
On the blackboard, she wrote the word “Narcolepsy” in katakana.
Narcolepsy?
I tilted my head at the unfamiliar term.
“Sorry for my ignorance, but is that a disease?”
“Yes. Narcolepsy is considered a sleep regulation disorder. For example, it causes sudden sleep attacks, where someone might feel overwhelmingly sleepy and fall asleep in the middle of doing something. There’s still no fundamental cure for it.”
“So, when the Angel… I mean, Yukino fell asleep earlier, that was—”
“A symptom of narcolepsy.”
So, she’s been coming to the Nurse’s Office because she’s dealing with such a troublesome illness…
“Well, some people with narcolepsy can lead normal lives with understanding from those around them. But in Yukino’s case, it seems her narcolepsy caused some trouble with friends in the past. So, there’s a mental aspect to it as well.”
“Mental issues?”
“I don’t know the details since Yukino hasn’t shared, but she’s a girl with a complicated past. I don’t pry, and the school takes that into account, allowing her to attend classes from the Nurse’s Office.”
So, it’s not just narcolepsy; there’s a mental component too.
That’s why she can’t come to the classroom…
She’s confined to this space, surrounded by the white wallpaper of the Nurse’s Office.
No, maybe it’s more accurate to say she’s shutting herself in.
A daily life spent staring at this same scenery…
“It feels… a little sad.”
“A little? A high school life without hanging out with friends? I’d absolutely hate it.”
“Well, that’s you, Sensei…”
“What’s that supposed to mean?!”
Ignoring Sano-sensei, I looked at the Angel sleeping on the bed.
To feel this much pity for a girl I just met today…
“…Mm, mm…?”
Just as our conversation paused, the Angel rubbed her eyes and sat up.
“Looks like she’s awake. Morning, Yukino. Sorry for leaving the work to you today.”
“Sensei… um, I’m sorry. I think I fell asleep.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Nukumori-kun here took care of everything and even carried you here.”
Sano-sensei winked at me while reassuring the Angel.
“You… did all that?”
“Uh, yeah, kinda.”
Well, I didn’t actually do the first floor, but… whatever.
“So, you… went into the girls’ restroom in my place…?”
“Huh?”
“…Are you, like, a pervert?”
The Angel gave me another skeptical look.
“No, I didn’t go in! Why do you keep trying to make me out to be some creep who wants to sneak into the girls’ restroom?!”
“Wait, hold on. Nukumori-kun, are you a pervert who wants to sneak into the girls’ restroom?”
“I’m not! Don’t make this more complicated, Sensei!”
“…Hehe.”
“Huh?”
Sitting on the bed, the Angel, Komichi Yukino, let out a soft chuckle.
Her stiff, dry-noodle-like expression from earlier softened into a warm, melting smile.
That smile… it was truly angelic.
“Y-Yukino, laughing? That’s rare…”
Sano-sensei muttered in surprise, then grinned mischievously.
“Alright, alright. For the next four days after school, you two are in charge of checking the supplies, okay?”
“What?! This is a week-long thing?!”
“Yup! Four more days for you and Yukino. Have fun!”
“Uh, okay…”
I gave a half-hearted reply and glanced at the Angel.
“…Let’s do this… Nukuyama-kun.”
“Uh, it’s Nukumori.”
Looks like the Angel’s a bit of an airhead.
