Chapter 08: The Encounter
[Glenn’s POV]
“That was close.”
Yeah, seriously. It was a super close call. When I spread out my detection magic, I found four dwindling magical powers and one stronger than that of a green dragon, so I thought something was up and went to check.
I was shocked to find four people knocked out.
And there was this strange dragon getting close to them. I quickly put on a mask from my magic bag and kicked the dragon away without being noticed.
When I turned around to check on the fallen people, they looked familiar.
I had just seen them today at the guild.
Huh? Aren’t these guys from ‘Moon’s Droplets’?
“…”
Ah, I see. Probably the dragon in front of us had recognized these four as prey.
That’s why it was getting closer to devour them.
Looking again, I realized all four were seriously injured.
“Poison, huh?”
They were weakened to the point of immobility by poison. I first went over to Alice and helped her sit up.
“Here, can you drink this?”
I pulled out an antidote from my magic bag, wondering if they’d accept a drink from a suspicious person wearing a mask.
What if I was just seen as a creeper?
“Gulp, gulp.”
Looks like she drank it.
“…Who?”
Alice had a look of disbelief. I did the same for the other three, helping them sit up and giving them the antidote.
“Huh?”
“No way?”
“???”
The three of them looked unbelievably surprised. Then Alice spoke up.
“Um, thank you… but how did you do it?”
“Exactly! That poison shouldn’t have an antidote!”
Carla looked at me too, with a mix of surprise and suspicion.
Well, it’s understandable, given it’s from a suspicious guy like me.
“Well, to put it simply, this medicine reacts with the poison and changes.”
“What?”
“Meaning, it can always detoxify.”
Everyone stared back with dumbfounded expressions. It’s hard to believe something like that, isn’t it?
“Where did you get something like that?”
Liz asked with a curious face. It’s a natural question.
“I made it myself.”
“”WHAT?””
Because, remembering all those different types of poisons is a hassle. With this, I don’t have to worry about poisons. But, I could make it thanks to someone else’s help too.
…Turning back, I saw the dragon I had kicked was getting up.
Well, he’s the only problem left now.
…I see, it’s the mad one. Definitely, these four wouldn’t stand a chance against it.
Then I stood up and began walking towards the dragon.
And then…
[Come forth.]
