Chapter 05: Green Dragon vs. Moon’s Droplets
“…There it is.”
Stella pointed in the direction where the green dragon was devouring a large number of monsters.
“Then, let’s proceed as usual.”
I said this and signaled everyone with my eyes.
Liz enhanced the physical abilities of Stella and me with her magic, while Carla gathered magical power.
Stella and I stepped forward to ensure the dragon didn’t focus on the two of them.
“It’s noticed us too. Let’s go, Alice.”
“Yeah, leave it to me.”
Up close, the green dragon was indeed huge, seemingly about ten meters tall at a glance.
We took a deep breath and readied our weapons.
The dragon charged towards us, its mouth wide open, likely intending to devour us as well.
“Fuh!”
“Here goes!”
I dodged to the side. Stella dived under the dragon, attacking its front and back legs. I immediately struck its face with my sword.
“Haaa!”
The green dragon staggered slightly but quickly regained its posture.
On closer inspection, the scales on its face and legs where we had attacked were merely scratched.
“It’s really tough, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, the legs are tough too… probably as hard as any part covered in scales.”
Our role this time was twofold: to inflict damage and to buy time for Carla to accumulate enough magical power to defeat the green dragon.
“Then let’s also make sure to keep it distracted so it doesn’t notice the two of them.”
“Okay, leave it to me.”
[GRRRRRRR]
The green dragon, which had been eyeing its prey, shifted its gaze to that of an enemy and growled lowly.
Stella and I repeated dodging and attacking. We sidestepped its attempts to crush us with its front legs and evaded sweeps of its tail.
When it breathed fire, one of us would draw its attention while the other attacked its face to divert it.
The green dragon’s body was battered, scales shattered everywhere, and it was bleeding.
“Kuh!?”
Suddenly, the green dragon leapt up, ready to unleash a fiery breath, likely intending to scorch everything around.
…But it was too late.
“It’s ready! Here I go!! Storm Blade!”
When Carla cast her spell, a huge tornado formed around the green dragon, engulfing it.
The dragon screamed in its death throes as it was sliced apart and fell to the ground.
The Storm Blade’s size and power vary with the amount of magical energy used, but a tornado that large would leave nothing of a normal monster.
As proof, the ground around was being gouged out rapidly, and the dragon’s body sank deeper into the earth.
==========
After a while, the tornado dissipated, revealing the gouged and dug-out ground with the bloodied green dragon lying within it.
However, despite being severely wounded, it was definitely still alive.
“I’m surprised. To think it survived that huge Storm Blade…”
Carla said calmly, watching the green dragon intently.
“”What!?””
“Huh?”
Both Carla and Liz exclaimed in surprise. Stella also looked shocked. I couldn’t believe it either.
After being hit by such powerful magic, the green dragon had managed to stand up.
Moreover, despite being covered in blood, its eyes still radiated a murderous intent.
This is what a dragon is… “tough” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
We faced the green dragon with maximum caution. It seemed the final showdown was still to come.
