Chapter 04: A Sense of Unease
After walking for a while, I reached Hale Forest.
“…It feels different than usual.”
I just had a feeling.
Is it the forest itself that’s odd, or is it the whole area? I couldn’t tell.
But I definitely felt that something was about to happen.
“…Well, it’ll work out somehow.”
With a snort of laughter, I entered the forest.
============
“Yeah, something’s definitely off…”
Even after wandering around the forest for a while, I couldn’t spot a single orc.
I used detection magic to search the area, but there was no sign of any orcs.
“Maybe I should expand the detection magic a bit more.”
I sighed and broadened the reach of my magic.
“Huh? What’s that?…”

“We’re almost at the Green Dragon’s location, everyone.”
Our party, Moon’s Droplets, is headed to the Loia Mountains to subdue the Green Dragon.
Everyone in the party gets along well.
“Alice~, give me a piggyback ride~”
“Hey! Liz!! Just hang in there a bit longer!”
“Carla is always so naggy. If you keep complaining, your chest might get even smaller.”
“I am average! It’s you guys who are the odd ones! And Alice, you don’t need to carry anyone!”
The two of them are always playing around like this. I always find this scene endearing.
While watching them, Liz said with a look of disgust,
“Those men from the guild… they were watching us again.”
“Indeed… their unabashed stares are really uncomfortable.”
Carla frowned in displeasure and agreed. I felt the same.
The way those men look at us, as if undressing us with their eyes, is nauseating.
Our party is full of good-looking and charming members. However, being attractive isn’t always a good thing.
We get creepy stares from the men and invitations to dinner from merchants with obvious ulterior motives. Initially, as an all-female party, we often had trouble with men.
But, we’ve repelled them all!
Now, we no longer get hassled, but those stares are something we just can’t get used to.
It’s really disgusting.
That’s why we don’t like men; in fact, we rather dislike them.
As I was thinking about this, Stella, who had gone scouting, returned.
“The Green Dragon is in the Loia Mountains. But…”
“But what?”
“It was acting strangely. It had been preying on all the creatures around the area.”
“That is indeed odd.”
Carla is right; it’s a bit strange. Dragon species are smart; they don’t recklessly disrupt their own territory’s ecosystem unless something powerful is approaching.
“Yeah, it seemed like it was in a rush to gain magical power.”
“Hmm.”
I thought about it for a while but decided to ask everyone for their opinions.
“What do you all think we should do? Keep going or turn back?”
Everyone pondered for a moment before Carla spoke up.
“I think we should keep going. If by any chance the Green Dragon evolves into a Red Dragon, it will be beyond our capability to handle.”
“That’s a valid point.”
There’s only one other Rank 8 party in that town besides us, and their strength is comparable to ours.
This means that if the dragon evolves into a Red Dragon, the town will definitely be destroyed.
We should act sooner rather than later.
“I agree too.”
“Yeah, I’m with you on that.”
Liz and Stella seemed to agree.
“It’s settled then.”
With everyone’s opinion aligned, our party headed towards the Green Dragon.
