Chapter 03: Rank 9 Promotion Quest
Alice, the swordswoman, glanced through the request papers and picked one to take to the receptionist.
“We’ll take this quest.”
“Okay. It’s the subjugation of the Green Dragon… noted.”
“!!!”
The crowd around them began to buzz with excitement.
It’s no surprise. Even if it’s just a Green Dragon, taking on a dragon species is a big deal. Dragons come in various types, and not everything about them is fully understood yet.
Dragons are typically ranked by color based on their strength—from Green, Red, to Blue Dragons.
The Green Dragon is considered the weakest among them. However, it’s still a formidable opponent. If it were to descend upon the town, it would certainly lead to destruction. Ordinary humans can’t stand a chance against it.
“Glenn, did you hear? They’re going after a Green Dragon.”
“Yeah. That’s crazy.”
The reason they accepted this quest is likely for a rank upgrade.
The way to move up in rank is simple.
Complete ten quests of your current rank.
Then, you become eligible for a promotion quest.
This time, the promotion quest involves subduing a Green Dragon, which is considered a Rank 9 challenge.
Unfortunately, there are no Rank 9s in this town. Nationwide, there are only one or two parties at that rank. That’s how rare such skilled fighters are.
Not that it concerns me since I don’t mingle with Rank 8 or 9s, so I’m off to Spinner…
“Well, it’s none of my business. I’m off to do the quest.”
And then Spinner also…
“Yeah, I guess so. Sorry for stopping you! It’s the Hale Forest, right?”
“Yep, that’s the place.”
“Alright, then. Take care and good luck!”
Then, I left the Adventurers’ Guild.
After a while, Spinner suddenly remembered something…
“Wait, isn’t Hale Forest pretty close to the Loia Mountains, where the Green Dragon is supposed to be subdued?”
Spinner hummed in thought for a moment and then said,
“Well, it should be fine!”
Saying this, he took a sip of water from his cup.
Little did he know.
The events of this day were about to shake up not only the Adventurers’ Guild but the entire nation in a major way…
