The Exiled Alchemist Unknowingly Becomes a Legend – Living Happily in the Frontier with My Yandere Little Sister (the Kingdom’s Guardian Dragon) - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Mastering Alchemy to Turn My Sister Back into a Human
“By the way, Myce. My stomach’s rumbling… You don’t happen to have any snacks or anything, do you?”
“I figured you might say that, so I made some chocolate today.”
When I pulled out the bar of chocolate I’d created with alchemy, Tinny’s face lit up with a huge, sparkling smile.
The chocolate bar gave off a divine glow. It was a high-calorie, perfectly balanced superfood I’d developed especially for Tinny now that she was a dragon, to keep her nutrition topped up.
“Thank you so much, Myce! Whoa, ooooh!? Just as I thought—the rank SSS top-quality chocolate is on another level!”
Tinny took a big bite of the chocolate bar and her whole body trembled with pure joy.
“Munch munch… Honestly, keeping up the act as Guardian Dragon Valitra is getting really tiring. The king got carried away and started picking fights with countries all over the place, and now their armies are marching toward us. Is he stupid or what?”
“…Sorry. Yeah, we really do need to put a stop to that.”
If Valitra disappeared, the kingdom would probably collapse militarily, but…
The way things were now, invading other countries and prospering like this, it was hard to call the situation healthy at all.
“They’re going around bragging about being the world’s strongest alchemy kingdom, Elfasia. But in the end, they’re just relying on my power. World conquest on the back of that? It’s ridiculous.”
She was completely right.
More than anything, we’d been pushing Tinny way too hard.
I felt bad for Lucy, but maybe this really was the right time to call it quits.
“It’s a good chance, so let’s head to some remote border area where nobody knows about us and just live a peaceful life, Myce.”
“…Got it. But the problem is, there won’t be any decent alchemy equipment out in the borderlands. I want to master alchemy and turn you back into a complete human, Tinny.”
Tinny had become able to transform into human form, but her appearance was exactly the same as it had been four years ago.
I suspected she might have already reached one of the endpoints of alchemy—immortality…
A “dragon-transforming immortal girl” would look like a proper monster to normal humans. I figured that would eventually make it hard for her to blend into human society and live normally.
“Thank you, Myce. I’m really happy that you’re thinking about me like this.”
Tinny stepped away from me and snapped her fingers on her right hand.
“So this is my present to you.”
With a heavy thud, a rare-metal orichalcum alchemy cauldron appeared right beside her. It was the highest-quality tool you could get for performing alchemy.
“Eh!? This… this is… Father’s!?”
“Yes. Actually, before I came here, I stopped by Father’s alchemy workshop in my dragon form and picked up the tools I needed.”
Tinny smiled like an angel.
“I think the cauldron will be happier being used by a first-rate alchemist like you, Myce, instead of third-rate ones like Father or Alfred. With this, even out in the borderlands, you can do all the alchemy you want, right?”
“Even so, you can’t just steal it…!?”
“No, I didn’t steal it. When I smashed through the wall and grabbed the cauldron, Father happily handed it over, saying, ‘Do you desire the alchemy cauldron, Lady Valitra!? Please, allow me to offer it to you!’”
“U-uh… well, if that’s how it went, maybe it’s okay…?”
It kinda sounded like she’d threatened him, though.
“Besides, if we want to mass-produce the cure for the black death plague, we absolutely need equipment like the alchemy cauldron and alchemy solutions. It’s for the good of the world and its people.”
“Yeah… we don’t know how many sick people there are out there.”
You could still make items without the cauldron, but the efficiency would be terrible.
“Well then, I’ll gratefully make use of it. The more people we can save, the better… and more than that, it’s a present from you, Tinny.”
“Yes, Myce. It’s a present filled with my ‘love’!”
Tinny’s eyes sparkled.
When she touched the cauldron with her right hand, it vanished as it was stored away inside the [Infinite Warehouse].
“Then let’s head to our new home of love. I’ll turn into my dragon form, so please ride on me.”
“No, if you do that, it might cause a huge uproar about Valitra leaving the capital… We’d better not.”
Valitra never moved from the mountains near the capital except when enemy countries attacked.
Eventually everyone would find out she was gone, but for Lucy’s sake, we should avoid anything that might cause a panic.
“In that case, I’ll carry you on my back in human form. Could you please hug me tight from behind?”
Tinny’s cheeks flushed a soft pink.
Huh? Why was she blushing…?
“That would still be too much of a burden on you, wouldn’t it? …Okay. First, let’s buy a horse.”
“Myce, do you have enough money to buy a horse?”
Tinny tilted her head cutely.
The price of one horse was forty times a commoner’s yearly income.
When I was exiled, I hadn’t been given much traveling money at all.
“Nope. So this time, I’ll do something special…”
I picked up a small pebble lying on the ground.
“[Genesis Alchemy] activated. Existential evolution to rank SSS!”
I poured my magic power into it, and the pebble began to shine with a dazzling light.
“Eh!? This… a plain little stone turning into gold!?”
Tinny’s mouth opened and closed in shock.
The pebble I was holding had transformed into sparkling pure gold.
Alchemy was originally born from the vulgar desire to turn stones and base metals into gold. Creating items, artificial life, body transmutation, evolution—all of that was just a byproduct.
But…
“Attempts to create gold have all failed throughout history…! Even the legendary alchemist Paracelsus couldn’t do it.”
“If artificial gold started circulating, the value of gold coins might crash and wreck the economy… so keep it a secret that I can make gold, okay?”
This was just an emergency measure for now.
“Yes, of course. Ahh, Myce really is [the one and only true alchemist in history], isn’t he? As expected of my big brother!”
Tinny’s eyes were shining with respect.
