The day I moved on from my crush — who worked as a rental girlfriend — I ended up with a yandere - Chapter 4- The offer
For a few minutes, I hesitated.
I mean, it was so suspicious for a random man to appear on my door without telling me his reason to come knocking on my door and he has my number too.
That’s why, I called Daiki-san.
[He is a trustworthy man. You have worked for them just don’t know his identity. Don’t worry and greet him.]
He assured me.
Still, it felt quite suspicious.
I opened the door and stepped out.
The man was still standing there, a soft smile on his handsome face.
He appeared in his thirties but I could tell that he pays good attention to his fitness and appearance.
He appeared like an aristocrat or some sort.
I approached the main gate and asked him, “Yes? What can I do for you?”
The man introduced himself, “Nice to finally meet you, Kazuki-kun. I am Ichihara Tomoya.”
Ichihara? I have heard that surname before.
“As you must have guessed…I am Tsumiki’s father.”
My eyes widened slightly.
I instantly opened the gate and told him, “Please come inside. The sun is quite glaring today.”
The man just stared at me for a few seconds before he nodded and followed me into the house.
As he took off his shoes, Mom approached us from the inside and asked, “Kazuki?”
Crap…I never told my mother that I worked part time.
Think…think, ah!
“He is Izumi’s uncle. Didn’t I tell you he and his family have gone to Kyoto recently? They are on their way back and his uncle suddenly arrived so Izumi asked if I could let him stay here for a few hours until he returned…”
Not the best lie but I didn’t have much time to think.
Izumi was my only friend and someone Mom has met.
And thankfully, based on how well I lied Mom smiled at the man and said, “Nice to meet you. I am Sayuri Ichinose, Kazuki’s mother.”
The man thankfully played along and with a brief bow he said, “Thank you for always taking care of my nephew.”
I then stepped in and said, “Please bring some juice and snacks, Mom. Tomoya-san, please come this way.”
I guided him to the living room before my dear mother could have asked any more questions. God, I didn’t want my other eye turning black.
Tomoya-san gave another nod to my mother and followed me to the living space.
I sighed as I heard Mom advancing towards the kitchen before I told the man, “Sorry, I had to lie. I never told her about my part-time job.”
He chuckled lightly, “It’s understandable. No parent wants their child to focus on anything but their studies.”
I wryly smiled as I gestured for the man to sit down.
I brought myself a chair and sat while facing him.
It was him who spoke first, “I heard you stopped working as a housekeeper?”
I nodded, “It was getting difficult to keep up with my studies so I decided to think about working after graduation.”
Housekeeping services were difficult given I have to give at least four hours to the job. And given I was at a crucial stage of my university life, I had to pay close attention to classes.
The man didn’t appreciate my choice this time.
After a moment of pause, I asked him, “Umm…so why did you want to meet me? Did I make a mistake during my duty at Ichihara residence?”
Though I heard that I received a five star rating every single time I visited the Ichihara residence except for that one time when…well, forget about that.
The man heaved a sigh, “No, you didn’t make a mistake, Kazuki-kun. While I was never at home when you worked, I always heard about your work. You are very good at house work.”
I smiled at that, “My mother taught me everything given she has to often visit different places for her work. She is a journalist, you see. That’s why, I had to learn these basic things so that I don’t starve.”
There was a time when I used to rely on takeouts but that was quite expensive and I was ruining my health. So, Mom took charge of teaching me everything; from dusting the house, to cleaning the dishes. From making breakfast to a three course meal.
She is quite a strict person when it comes to my health and future.
That’s one of the reasons why I never told her about my part-time job.
The man smiled in response, “That’s quite admirable.”
I just lowered my head slightly, not knowing how to respond to that.
Finally, the man came to the main topic, the thing for which he was here.
“Kazuki-kun,” he began as I looked up. With a serious expression, he took out a cheque from his pocket and rested it on the table.
I looked down and then up before I heard him saying something unbelievable.
“Decide whatever amount you want, just start working at my house once again.”
