The day I moved on from my crush — who worked as a rental girlfriend — I ended up with a yandere - Chapter 2- Betrayal
I waited and waited…two hours passed and yet she was nowhere to be seen.
I tried her phone but it said it was turned off.
I was growing worried so I called her mother.
Thankfully, it connected.
[Hello, Kazuki-kun?]
The familiar voice of the older female rang from the other side.
“Hello, Asumi-san, is Satsuki there?]
There is a high chance something might have happened back at home, which is why she never informed me about her late arrival. Or maybe she is upset about something?
However, unlike what I thought,
[Ara? She left way earlier saying she would be meeting you. She hasn’t reached yet?]
My mind turned blank for a moment.
A sudden thought crossed my mind which made my gut wrench.
It can’t be…can it?
No, Satsuki won’t…today…today was our day.
[Kazuki-kun?]
Her voice broke my dreadful trance as I hurriedly said, “Yes, I suddenly remembered that she told me to meet her at the library. God, she must be angry right now.”
[Fufu~ Yes, pray to God since only they could save you from her wrath now.]
I couldn’t bring myself to smile. My heart turned heavy at the possibility that I didn’t want to come true.
However…I had to check.
I clutched my phone tightly in my hand and advanced towards a certain cafe, which was just a ten-minute walk from the station.
It was quite a popular cafe in this area. However, there was something about that place that many don’t know.
With every step I took, a silent prayer left my lips.
Please Satsuki…don’t be there…please…not today. You can’t be this cruel…please call me and tell me that because of some reason you had to visit your friend or anything.
However, despite all my prayers… what’s worse I assume came out to be true.
The flowers from my hand fell.
I stood there, under the streetlight…watching the familiar red-haired girl currently smiling brightly while sitting inside the cafe. And across from her sat a man I don’t know.
The man extended his fork towards Satsuki, and while blushing faintly, she ate the pastry.
The man grinned before he scooped the cream from the corner of her lips and licked it.
My blood boiled. My fists trembled, eyes widened in utter rage.
Without another thought, I stormed towards the entrance of the cafe.
However, just as I was about to step inside, someone came out and pressed their hand on my chest to stop me.
I looked up at the man, my mind too consumed in rage to hear him clearly so I tried to push him away and enter the cafe.
But the man was way stronger and easily pulled me away from the cafe entrance before he told me, “Stay right there unless you want me to hurt you, Kazuki.”
I finally looked at the man’s face and realisation dawned upon me.
“Masato-san? Why are you stopping me?” He is the manager of the cafe and someone who always treats me kindly.
Why was he glaring at me as if I had committed the gravest crime?
The man huffed, “I can see what you were about to do, but you can’t ruin Satsuki-chan’s date today. That guest is important. He has already tipped all the servers and had ordered the most expensive dish.”
I growled, “So it’s because he is benefiting you, you are stopping me from meddling?”
The man nodded, “That’s right. And not like this is the first time Satsuki came here with a guy. You are well aware what kind of work she does, and on a random occasion, you decide this is it, and you can’t see her with someone else anymore?”
I gritted my teeth, “Whatever we do, doesn’t concern you.”
“It does. I have a tie-up with the company she works for, and as promised, every guest who rents Satsuki must come here. She is holding her end of the deal so I don’t want a third person to meddle with our business, you got that?”
I frowned…just then, I felt some movement on the left.
I turned and found Satsuki and the man…they were now sitting in the same seat with the man’s arm on her shoulder.
My restraints snapped and I instantly tried to barge in—only for Masato to push me back and following that, a hard punch hit my left eye…and everything turned dark after that.
