- Chapter 1- My crush and our past
“Someone looks quite happy.” Hearing my mother’s voice, I couldn’t stop myself from smiling as I slid my feet into my shoes.
She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall before asking, “Going on a date with Satsuki?”
In the past, it used to be a lie, which is why I hesitated. But today, “Yeah, we are going on a date.”
There was no point in hiding since I indeed am going on a real date with her.
My first and only love, Minase Satsuki.
“Hmm? You look exceptionally happy today. Don’t tell me, my little Kazuki is going to get married today!” She dramatically covered her mouth.
I chuckled, “I haven’t even graduated from university. Well, I am off.” I was so impatient to see her that I didn’t even explain things to Mom. Well, could I have in the first place?
The reason for my excitement was that this was the first time we were going on a date for real.
Unlike what her family and my parents think, we aren’t dating yet. We were in a situationship kind of thing until now, however, yesterday, I made it clear and simple for her that I am interested in Satsuki.
She just blushed and averted her gaze…something she does when she is shy not disgusted.
I always knew I had a special place in her heart, we have been together since a very young age after all.
It was when we were in middle school that her family shifted houses and we became neighbours.
Satsuki and I didn’t get along initially because of her personality.
Satsuki is one hell of a tsundere.
She can never be honest with herself.
I didn’t understand her in the beginning that’s why I always stayed away from her. But then her mother told me that Satsuki wants to befriend me. But she was too shy to state her true feelings.
And those words made even more sense when I one day entered her house and saw Satsuki making a sketch of me and her in that, holding hands.
I fell in love with that painting and her that day.
We grew closer and closer each day.
Our hobbies didn’t match but we somehow got along well.
Satsuki never grew completely honest with her feelings but that was a part of her charm.
My cute little Satsuki.
*TNG*
The soft bell brought me out of my daze as I realized I had already reached the location where we were supposed to meet.
I got off the bus and slowly started walking towards the station.
En route, I checked myself in the mirror.
I was wearing a white shirt with a blue jacket and dark jeans…not too cool, but she liked it better this way. When things aren’t too stiff.
That’s why, I wore this even though this was supposed to be our first ‘real’ date.
My eyes caught a flower shop. I thought for a moment…not because I didn’t have money—I saved a lot through my last part-time job—but because I was unsure whether Satsuki would like it.
In the end, I picked her favorite ones—yellow lilies.
“Thank you,” I paid the florist who smiled at me and said,
“Your girlfriend is quite lucky.”
I blushed slightly at the remark. How easily they guess things.
But well, she wasn’t wrong…Satsuki would become my girlfriend after today, I know it.
Holding the flowers carefully in my arms, I made my way towards the train station.
It was six thirty, still half an hour left. But it’s better to arrive early on a date.
After standing under a lamp post, I waited for some time when suddenly I heard my phone ringing.
With a smile, I pulled it, thinking it must be from Satsuki. It was quite surprising but maybe she also decided to show up early?
However, the moment I took out my phone I was disappointed to see it was from someone else.
I didn’t think much before picking up the call,
“Hey, Daiki-senpai.” He was my senior from the last work I did to earn some quick cash.
My family wasn’t struggling but there are some expenses I couldn’t let them know that’s why I started working.
{Kazuki~How is it going, mate?}
I smiled, he is as energetic as ever.
“Doing well. How about you? Is there a problem?”
This was the first time he called me after I stopped working a month ago.
There was a brief pause before he said,
{Actually, there is a client who is asking for your personal number. They said it’s not a complaint.}
I frowned, “Hmm? Then why do they need my number?”
{Dunno, man. They are just eager to get your number.}
I felt somehow this could be troublesome so I said, “If it’s not necessary then don’t give my number to them.” I don’t want my mother to somehow find out that I used to work part-time. That’s why, it’s better to keep these matters away.
{Roger that. Anyway, what’s up? Are you somewhere outside?}
I talked to the senior for some more time, without realising that it was already seven on the clock.
And yet…Satsuki was nowhere to be seen.
