The Carnivorous Maidens Living with Me - Chapter 28 & 29
Chapter 28: You’d Be Shocked If a Stranger Came to Visit You in the Hospital, Right?
“Haa, a whole week…”
I’m lying in a hospital bed, staring at the ceiling.
After yesterday’s assault incident, I was rushed here by ambulance and got a serious scolding from the doctor.
“Are you an idiot? Don’t you know what self-defense means?”
Gouta-san, who came with me, explained the situation and apologized profusely.
I honestly felt bad for going overboard.
“…I wonder if Sofia and the others are okay?”
With fractures, bruises, and bad cuts, I was told I’d need to stay in the hospital for at least a week.
“If I could soak in our hot spring, I’d heal faster…”
My house has a hot spring, and my secret dream is to open an onsen inn someday.
By the way, Shiratama and Zenzai are being looked after by my parents (adoptive parents).
I asked them when they came to handle my hospital admission yesterday.
Their reaction when Gouta-san filled them in?
“That’s my boy! Scars are a man’s medals!!”
“This’ll get Shoma more fans! Aim for the harem ending! Introduce us next time!”
That’s the kind of nonsense they spouted!
Those two are basically idiots.
“So bored…”
Konkon.
I heard a knock at the door.
“? Come in…”
I answered, and the person who opened the door was… a man I didn’t know.
“Excuse me. You’re Shoma Kamizuki, right?”
“Uh… yeah, that’s me.”
I mumbled, totally confused.
“Sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Soichi Kisaragi, Sofia’s father.”
“Huh? Oh, uh, yes?”
I let out a dumbfounded noise, not understanding why Sofia’s dad was here.
“Well, actually… I’ve heard about you from my daughter.”
“Is that so… sorry! Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Shoma Kamizuki, and I’m dating your daughter.”
Saying that, I bowed as best I could from the bed.
“‘Dating’… huh.”
“What?”
“No, nothing, don’t mind me! More importantly, how are your injuries?”
I thought he said something, but I didn’t catch it.
Changing the subject, Sofia’s dad showed concern for my condition.
“They look worse than they are, so a week in the hospital and some outpatient visits should do it.”
“The fractures are mild, thankfully, but it’s your dominant arm, so that’s the tough part.”
“Yeah… actually, I heard about yesterday from Sofia’s junior… Hazuki, was it? That girl told me.”
“Geh…”
“Haha, that face says you didn’t want anyone to know.”
To be honest, I asked them to keep Sofia out of it because I didn’t want her to see that scene… guess it was only a matter of time.
“Um… how’s Sof—your daughter doing?”
“I’ll be honest… she was crying. ‘Why did Shoma have to…’”
Hearing that, a bit of guilt welled up.
I didn’t mean to make her cry.
“…Haa… I didn’t mean to make her cry.”
I said it out loud.
“She’s taking the day off school and staying home with my wife.”
“I see. Sorry for causing unnecessary trouble…”
I mumbled, feeling a bit complicated.
Hearing that, her dad’s eyes widened.
“Kamizuki-kun! No, Shoma-kun! You’re the one who saved my daughter! It’s not unnecessary. Our family couldn’t heal Sofia’s wounds… but you stood by her. You even took down the cause of it all. We can’t thank you enough!”
“…It means a lot to hear that. But… I’m not exactly an honest guy when it comes to your daughter.”
“…”
Shoma was about to say something Soichi could already guess.
After all, he’d heard it from his daughter and Hazuki.
But Soichi admired the guts it took to say it to a father he’d just met.
“The truth is… I’m dating your daughter, that’s real. But besides her… I’m also dating another girl.”
I sat up as respectfully as I could, speaking carefully to Soichi-san.
“Sorry, this is my selfishness. It’s not because your daughter lacks charm. It’s just my indecision causing this.”
I was stunned watching him.
He was bowing as much as he could, sincerely telling the truth.
(Ah… he’s just as Sofia said… no, even more honest.)
I’d heard from my daughter that she went after him for his body, half-forcing him to be her boyfriend.
And that Hazuki girl pushing herself on him was a shock too.
“So I’m not the upright guy you might think, Soichi-san. After yesterday, I don’t think anyone will mess with your daughter anymore.”
He kept going.
“Her school life should be peaceful from now on. I get that you’d be mad having a two-timing jerk like me as her boyfriend.”
“If you don’t approve of our relationship, I’ll step back. Your daughter’s an amazing woman, so she’ll find the perfect guy in no time.”
This guy…
Soichi was grappling with emotions he couldn’t put into words.
Never dodging the truth, protecting those girls, acting like the fault was all his.
(He really is Miss Shikine’s grandson…)
“Kuku… Hahahahahaha!”
“Huh!?”
I was floored when Soichi-san suddenly burst out laughing.
For a moment, he forgot we were in a hospital, laughing his head off.
Thankfully, it’s a private room, so it shouldn’t bother anyone too much…
“Haa, haa… sorry! The thing is, I already know everything.”
“…What?”
I asked, not getting what Soichi-san meant.
What came back was the truth.
How Sofia forced her way into a relationship.
That there’s another girl.
How they tried to trap him with a physical relationship.
And that the mastermind behind it was Sofia’s mom.
“…”
I looked down, my face burning red.
“Sorry for testing you like that. I didn’t expect to hear it straight from your mouth. You’re even more incredible than I thought! I’m trusting you with my daughter, okay? She’s a bit pushy like her mom, but still!”
Soichi-san said that and laughed again.
As he left, he mentioned he’d bring his wife and Sofia tomorrow.
And his parting words? “A harem’s pretty awesome, huh! Haha!”
Then he left the room.
“I… wanna… go home…”
My heart’s cry got swallowed up by the ceiling.
Chapter 29: The Kisaragi Family and Their Schemes
On the morning of my second day in the hospital, the principal and Gouta-san came to visit.
We talked briefly, but the gist was that the assault case would be prosecuted as a criminal offense, and the culprits would be expelled from school.
Well, obviously.
The Sumeragi Group would probably handle the rest.
By evening, as promised yesterday, the Kisaragi family showed up.
“Shoma~!”
Sofia burst through the door with energy.
Her eyes were teary as I reached out to welcome her, but then…
Bachin!
She slapped me.
“!?”
I was stunned, but Sofia hugged me, crying.
“Waaah! Shomaaa! You went way too far~!”
What she’s saying and doing don’t exactly match, but whatever.
“Sorry… it was the only way I could think of.”
“No… I’m the one who’s sorry. I was leaning too much on your kindness.”
“Don’t worry about it!”
As we had that exchange, I locked eyes with a silver-haired beauty watching us with a warm smile.
“Oh! Nice to meet you! I’m Shoma Kamizuki, currently dating Sofia!”
“Hello, you must be Shoma-san! Thank you for saving my daughter!”
“No… I didn’t mean to save her, it was just my own selfishness.”
She was smiling alongside Soichi-san.
“I’m Sofia’s mom, Alicia. Nice to meet you, Shoma-san!”
She gently patted Sofia’s head and extended her hand to me.
I shook it.
“Nice to meet you too.”
I can’t believe this is the mastermind behind pushy Sofia.
As I was thinking that, more visitors arrived.
Bakonn!
“Here we are! My boy! Gahaha!”
“Sho-chan, you doing okay~? I brought pudding~!”
They showed up at the absolute worst time.
“Hm? Got company? My bad, we’ll come back!”
“No, no, don’t worry about it! Nice to meet you, I’m Soichi Kisaragi, father of Shoma-kun’s girlfriend, Sofia Kisaragi. And this is my wife, Alicia.”
With that, the Kisaragi couple bowed.
“Well, how polite. I’m Kazuma Kamizuki, Shoma’s adoptive dad. And this is my wife, Otone.”
Then the adults started chatting about the incident, hobbies, and random stuff.
“So, Shoma, this lovely lady’s Sofia-chan, huh?”
“Yeah… that’s her.”
“Oh, um! Sorry for the late introduction! I’m Sofia Kisaragi, Shoma-kun’s girlfriend! We’re dating with marriage in mind!”
What is this Russian girl saying?!
Look, now they’re both speechless!
“Sofia-chan.”
“Y-Yes?”
Sofia seemed nervous under Kazuma’s gaze.
Then my dad said to her…
“Call me Dad.”
“And I’m Mom! You’re perfect! I’ve always wanted a daughter, and now my wish is coming true! Having such a cute girl as a daughter-in-law!”
I was at a loss for words.
Ugh… I wanna go home.
“U-Um… Fath… Dad, Mom, we need to talk a bit… Papa, Mama, come too.”
With that, they all left the hospital room.
A few minutes later, they came back with sly grins on their faces.
“Well, Shoma, we’re heading out! We’ll be back when you’re discharged!”
“Got it! How’re Shiratama and the others?”
“Oh, they’re doing great, though Tama-chan’s a bit lonely. We’ll bring them once you’re settled after discharge.”
“Cool~.”
“Shoma! See you! I’ll come back!”
“Yeah! Don’t stress too much, okay? I’m your boyfriend, right?”
“Yup! I love you, Shoma!”
And then, right in front of both sets of parents, she kissed me!
“Bye-bye!”
Leaving me dumbfounded, the sound of the closing door echoed in my ears.
