Chapter 35: Come to Think of It, This Is Pretty Normal for Us
Even after Aira pulled off that whole people-saving moment, the two of us were still walking around—fingers tightly intertwined, like a couple.
And now, we were standing in front of a movie theater.
Yesterday, while we were watching a movie together on my phone, Aira looked like she was really enjoying it.
So I figured, “Hey, want to try watching something like that on a big screen?”
She didn’t just agree—she practically jumped at the idea.
“Aira, what kind of movie do you wanna see?”
“Something like what we watched yesterday.”
So… romance, huh?
Well, I don’t hate that genre or anything.
Guess I’ll go ahead and grab tickets and some popcorn.
Because come on—if you’re watching a movie at the theater, popcorn’s a must.
Definitely want Aira to experience that part too.
“Aira, do you have a preference for where we sit?”
We stepped in front of the ticket machine, and while I gave her a quick rundown of how it worked, I asked her that.
“What’s this one?”
“Oh, that’s called a couple’s seat. It’s for, y’know… people who are dating.”
“I want that one.”
“…We’re family, remember?”
“No, we’re not.”
…Yeah.
I mean, I still think of us as parent and child.
But for Aira… it probably doesn’t feel that way.
So fine.
I’m not gonna argue about it anymore.
Doesn’t matter what I say—
It’s not gonna change her mind anyway.
“Alright, fine. But even if we’re not family… we’re not, like, dating either, right?”
“Is it bad to buy them if we’re not a couple?”
Aira tilted her head slightly with that cute little motion as she asked.
“…Well, no, it’s not technically against the rules—”
“Then I want those seats.”
“Yeah, but still—”
And that’s when it hit me.
Now that I really thought about it… would sitting in a couple’s seat actually feel any different from usual?
I mean, Aira and I are always super close anyway.
Even if we did sit in those seats, it’s not like it’d be anything new.
“Alright. Let’s go with these, then.”
“Yay.”
Aira looked genuinely happy about it, so… yeah.
Good choice.
“Alrighty, next up—let’s go grab some popcorn.”
I said that while giving her head a gentle pat.
“Popcorn?”
“It’s a snack. You can get it sweet or salty. Or both. Wanna try both?”
“Then both.”
Hearing that, I bought the mix with caramel and salt—the best of both worlds.
And since it was almost time for the movie to start, we headed into the theater together.
“This is my first time sitting in one of these.”
I muttered that quietly as I settled into the couple’s seat.
I mean, I never had anyone to come here with before, and sitting in one of these alone would’ve just been… weird.
“Your first time?”
Right on cue, Aira climbed onto my lap—like always—then looked up at me with those big eyes and asked.
“Yeah, it is.”
“I’m happy.”
“That so. …Just remember—we’re not at home, we’re in a movie theater. So keep it down, okay?”
“Mm.”
Trying to dodge the mood a little, I gently said that to her.
Then spent the time before the movie started softly patting her head.
