Chapter 30: Back to Being a High School Boy
This was my first day off since coming back to this world.
And for Aira too—it was her first proper holiday here.
She’d been sticking close to me ever since we returned, even following me to school. Honestly, it kinda felt like she’d been attending classes right alongside me.
So… what was I doing with this precious, hard-earned break?
Well, it was already noon…
And I was still in bed.
Under the covers.
With Aira.
…Okay, look.
I did wake up earlier this morning. Out of habit—from how things were in the other world.
But the thing is… Aira was clinging to me in her sleep.
If I got up, I’d definitely wake her.
If we were still over there, maybe it wouldn’t have mattered so much.
But we’re not.
We’re here now.
And here, she can sleep in as much as she wants.
Honestly, I just wanted her to rest for as long as she could.
So yeah—I gave it my all and managed to fall back asleep.
Tried really hard to dive into round two of dreamland, even though putting that much effort into sleeping felt kinda silly.
But thanks to all those ingrained habits from the other world, drifting off again wasn’t exactly easy.
So in the end…
Well, this was the result.
While I was lying there, lost in thought, Aira started to squirm in my arms—
Guess she was waking up.
…Which, y’know, is totally fine. No problem at all.
But.
If possible, could she maybe… shift her body just a bit higher up?
Not that I was getting weird about Aira or anything—seriously, she’s my daughter—but, you know how it is.
The usual morning situation hadn’t exactly gone away yet.
And if she started moving around down there in that state… well, yeah.
That’d be bad. On multiple levels.
Seriously—I needed to do something, and fast.
If I didn’t, she was definitely gonna notice.
And that was the one thing I absolutely had to avoid.
She’d think I was some freak who gets off on his own daughter.
Nope. Nope nope nope. Not letting that happen.
“A-Aira? You awake?”
I asked softly while gently shifting her body up a little on the bed—careful not to hurt her or anything.
There was still a chance she wasn’t actually awake.
Maybe she was just rolling over in her sleep.
“Nn… good morning, Hiroto.”
“A-Ah, yeah. Morning, Aira. …Anyway, I think I’m gonna get up now, so… could you let go for a sec?”
“…? But we always get up like this.”
W-Well, yeah. She wasn’t wrong.
But that was only because I usually woke up before her—
Back when my morning issue had already resolved itself by the time she opened her eyes.
“J-Just for today, alright?”
“Will you give me a reward?”
“A reward…? You’re just letting go—n-no, fine. I’ll give you one, so please, just let go for now.”
Figured that was still better than her noticing… that.
And hey, giving my adorable daughter a little reward?
Easy. No problem.
“…Hiroto, weren’t you gonna get up?”
Aira had pulled away and gotten out of bed.
She tilted her head, looking at me curiously.
“…Yeah, I will. Just… give me a sec.”
A bit of time passed after that—and somehow, I managed to get up without her noticing a thing.
…Even though this was supposed to be my first real day off since coming back, man, what a rough way to start it.
Not that it was anyone’s fault.
It was just biology.
My body was young again.
I was a high school boy again.
So yeah… this kinda thing was bound to happen.
