Chapter 31: A Date Tomorrow?
“Aira, for breakfast—wait, I mean lunch… is there anything you’re in the mood for?”
After confirming that Nee-san wasn’t home, I proudly asked Aira that question in the living room.
“Your cooking.”
“I’m really glad you said that, but… sorry. Today’s a no-go.”
I wanted to whip something up for her right away, seriously.
But looking in the fridge… nothing easy came to mind.
And since I had no idea when Nee-san might come home, I figured it’d be smarter to go with something quick and simple instead of spending a ton of time in the kitchen.
So yeah—sorry, Aira, but I had to pass for today.
“Then anything’s fine.”
“Okay. In that case, wanna go out to eat? Or we could just take it easy today and head out for something tomorrow instead?”
I asked since tomorrow was a school holiday too.
…To be honest, it was already past noon.
Even if we went out now, we’d basically just eat and come straight back.
Not much of an outing.
Also… if I was being really honest, my wallet wasn’t exactly jumping for joy at the idea of eating out two days in a row.
“If we go tomorrow, we can just wander around for a while too, y’know.”
“Like… a date?”
“…I don’t think going out with your parent counts as a date, so… yeah, not a date.”
“Okay. Tomorrow, I’m going on a date with Hiroto.”
…Was she even listening just now?
I literally just said it’s not a date.
“Are we heading out in the morning?”
“Not super early or anything—but sleeping in like today’s a bit much, so let’s try to get up earlier and head out.”
“Okay. I’ll wake up properly tomorrow.”
“I’ll wake you up myself.”
“Mm.”
And just like that, tomorrow’s plans were set.
…Which was great and all, but that still left one very important question:
What were we doing for lunch today?
Maybe cup noodles would be fine?
Nutritionally speaking… well, it’s just one day. Should be okay.
Thinking that, I started getting two cups ready.
Yeah, waking up and jumping straight into cup noodles isn’t exactly the ideal way to start a day—
But just for today, it’s fine.
Besides, I hadn’t had cup noodles in eight years.
So honestly?
I was kinda looking forward to it.
“We just wait three minutes now.”
After pouring in the hot water, I turned to Aira and said that.
“Will it really be ready like this?”
“Yup, it’ll be ready.”
Watching Aira stare at the cup, all curious-like, made me smile a little.
We waited for the time to pass—together.
And before we knew it, the three minutes were up.
Our cup noodles were done.
“Ready to eat?”
“Mm.”
“Careful, it’s hot.”
“Okay.”
And just like that, even though the day had started off kinda horribly…
We still ended up having a pretty nice little time together.
