Chapter 55: The Abandoned Prince, and His Faithful Sword Stops Responding
“…”
“Um…”
“…”
Ailynn had somehow managed to convince both the Arachne and the dark elves to cooperate, laying the groundwork for building a ship.
That alone should’ve been great news…
But right now, I was probably facing the most difficult crisis of my life.
And the cause of it—was the stunning woman silently staring at me.
“H-Hey, Ailynn. This lady here is…?”
“Hmm? Ah—she’s the boss of the Arachne. Her name was, uh… Ku… Ku-something-chan.”
“Kuura.”
“Right, right! Kuura-chan~!”
“Arachne, huh…”
I couldn’t help but stare at her from head to toe.
She was an unbelievably beautiful woman, with features so perfect she looked like a living doll.
Long silver hair. Crimson eyes, only half open.
And that body—ridiculously curvy, with a chest that was, frankly, massive.
Her waist was sharply slender, her thighs were nicely filled out, her butt was round and full, and her legs were long and toned.
That’s right—legs.
She had legs.
Unlike the other Arachne, who matched the usual image of a woman’s upper body fused with a spider’s lower half, Kuura looked nearly human.
“Not a lot of spider traits, huh.”
“That’s not true~ She has eight eyes, you know?”
“Huh? No, she clearly has two. Did you drink so much that your vision’s gone blurry?”
“Whaaat? Reyshel, that’s so mean~ Do you really see your big sis as just a drunkard~? In that case—Kuura-chan, show him!”
As soon as Ailynn said that, Kuura opened her eyes.
Not the usual two on her face—but the thin, barely noticeable lines around them suddenly snapped open.
Whoa—she really had eight eyes!?
“…Is it gross?”
“Huh?”
“…We Arachne have always been hated by humans.”
“Ah—no, it’s not gross. I just got startled since I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
“…I see.”
When I answered honestly, Kuura quietly closed six of her eyes, then turned and walked off without saying anything else.
“Ah… Did I upset her?”
“Hmm. I don’t think so. She’s actually pretty easygoing—enough that she might get along with my mom. But more importantly—”
“Y-Yeah, it’s amazing, isn’t it? The dark elves.”
Ailynn turned her gaze to the beach.
There, the hull of a ship was already partially complete—maybe about a fifth of it done, enough to make out the shape.
But that wasn’t what stunned me most.
It was the dark elves’ craftsmanship.
The level of their technology sent a chill down my spine.
“I didn’t expect the dark elves to build a ship out of metal.”
That’s right.
The ship they were constructing wasn’t made of wood—it was a modern vessel, built entirely out of metal.
Naturally, its appearance looked more like a battleship.
“…I wonder if civilization was actually more advanced back when Alcarion ruled this continent.”
If I ever got the chance to reunite with Alcarion safely, I thought maybe I’d ask her about that time.
But just as that thought crossed my mind, Ailynn gave a sheepish smile and said,
“Hmm… I’d rather you didn’t.”
“…Could you not read my mind like that?”
“If I see it, I can’t help it~”
“So, why shouldn’t I ask?”
Even though she was drinking, Ailynn’s tone turned serious.
It was clear she genuinely didn’t want me bringing up this continent’s past with Alcarion.
“This place… it’s not all happy memories for Mom.”
“…Oh, right.”
Alcarion had lost her partner here.
Most likely, someone who had been her husband—hundreds of years before I met her.
And it hadn’t been some unfortunate accident.
The lamia girls said it was an assassination.
“G-Got it. I won’t bring it up.”
“…Thanks. Now then—your big sis is gonna go hand out some booze to all the hard workers~!! Rewards are important, after all~!!”
With a cheerful hum, Ailynn skipped off into the distance.
And just as she disappeared from view, Hek showed up, walking in from the other side.
I waved both arms high and called out.
“Hey, Hek! Over here!”
“Ugh.”
The moment she saw my face, Hek visibly grimaced and shot me a sharp glare.
That reaction stung a little, honestly…
Maybe it was because we were at the beach, but Hek wasn’t in her usual maid outfit.
Instead, she wore a micro bikini-styled maid uniform—with way too much skin showing.
I stared at her, totally taken in.
“W-What are you looking at!?”
“…I mean, it’s hot.”
“D-Don’t say gross stuff like that!!”
It was hot. Definitely hot.
And yet, for some reason, my faithful sword wasn’t reacting at all.
My brain was all for it—wanting to do indecent things with Hek—but my instincts flat-out rejected the idea.
So this is what it meant to be repulsed on a biological level, huh…
Even with Arachne—a literal spider from the waist down—my sword still reacted just from seeing their chest.
But now? Not even a twitch.
And honestly… that kind of shocked me.
“So? Did you want something?”
“…Quit gawking and help already!!”
With that, she tossed me a hammer she’d been hiding behind her back.
Whoa—close one.
Even if I could just heal with Perfect Regeneration, getting hit still hurts.
Glad I managed to dodge it just in time.
◆
Deep beneath the ocean’s surface—
A being slumbered, embodying the very chaos of the raging sea.
The strongest creature in the ocean.
The sea dragon—Leviathan.
Its intelligence far surpassed that of most humans, and it understood well that the deep sea was an absolute safe zone—where no enemy could reach it.
Or at least… that’s what it believed.
“KYUAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!”
Leviathan was launched out of the ocean and now thrashed helplessly in midair.
It had no idea what had just happened.
All it knew was that it—the ruler of the sea—was being completely overwhelmed by a single enemy.
An enemy so small it was almost laughable.
That enemy looked… human.
But its limbs were covered in tough, armor-like scales, and it had vibrant orange hair that shone like the sun.
And if that wasn’t enough, it also had dragon wings—and floated in the sky.
This humanoid monster had casually paddled into the deep sea—Leviathan’s so-called sanctuary—and flung it straight out of the water.
Just from that alone, Leviathan knew.
This wasn’t a human.
This was a monster far beyond its own kind.
Even its fiercest roars of intimidation had no effect.
“You’re being loud.”
“KYUAH!?”
The monster grabbed its head—and with terrifying ease, slammed Leviathan’s massive body, big enough to rival a small island, into the ocean over and over again.
“Gyahahaha!! Are you seriously the mighty Leviathan? You’re so weak, I wouldn’t even eat you for breakfast!! But hey, maybe munching on you will give me a bit of strength. Don’t worry—I’ll take everything. Your flesh, your blood, your bones—I’ll turn it all into my power!! Gyahahahahaha!!”
“Kyuah…”
Leviathan understood.
The future awaiting it… was inevitable ruin.
And because it was smart, it could clearly see what was coming.
It had no chance of escape.
