Chapter 56: The Abandoned Prince Is More Shocked Than When Leviathan Appeared
It had been a month and a half since we started building the ship.
With the combined efforts of the Arachne, Lamia, Dark Elves, and Succubi, the large ship was completed at an unbelievable speed.
The most impressive were the Arachne.
Just one of them had the strength of over a dozen grown human men.
The threads they produced from their spider lower halves were used with pulleys to create human-powered cranes, allowing them to build the ship at a pace that defied everything I knew back on Earth.
And finally—the day of departure arrived.
“Alright, people~!! Time to say goodbye to this cursed land!!”
“““Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!”””
“Set sail~!!”
For some reason, Ailynn ended up becoming the ship’s captain.
As for me… I got assigned the role of “Entourage A.”
What even is Entourage A? Is there a B?
Turns out—yes. Hek got stuck with the title “Entourage B.”
The vice-captain spot went to the Lamia Queen, Michaela.
Ship maintenance was handled by the dark elves.
And the crew was made up of Arachne, Lamia, and Succubi.
Basically, everyone who had helped us on this continent was now on board.
There were a few people from other races too, but most of the passengers were from those four.
When Ailynn first suggested building the ship, she apparently also announced she’d take along anyone who wanted to come.
This continent was harsh.
Almost everyone chose to move to the continent where Alcarion and the others were now.
And so, several hundred people boarded this massive ship, setting out for a new land.
Now then… with that all sorted, a brand new problem showed up.
“Bleh—hurrrk—”
“…H-Hey, stop throwing up. You’re making me—hurrrk—”
Yeah… I was apparently terrible with seasickness.
The nausea wouldn’t stop. My head was pounding, and I could barely stand.
And next to me, Hek had started sympathy-vomiting.
“Nggh—puhah! Aaaah… and I already finished all the booze I brought…”
In the middle of the deck, Ailynn was chugging straight from a barrel of booze—and emptied it in no time.
Well… I wasn’t going to say anything about it.
After all, the only reason this ship was even moving right now… was because of Ailynn.
The finished ship ran on magical power.
It automatically drew mana from the crew and converted it into propulsion.
But even after draining everyone’s magic, it still wasn’t enough to move this massive hunk of metal.
Apparently, the dark elves had gotten a bit too excited and built it without thinking about things like fuel efficiency.
That’s when Ailynn said, “Then I’ll be the fuel! Let me be captain too~!” and solved everything.
Ailynn’s magic reserves were insane.
So, the dark elves modified the ship to draw extra mana directly from her.
Thanks to that, the ship finally had enough power to sail across the sea.
Which is why… I could tolerate her drinking a bit.
“…Sigh. The real problem’s gonna be if Leviathan shows up.”
There were a few downsides to being on the ship—like not being able to use magic—but the bow had a massive ballista mounted on it that could fire giant arrows made of pure mana.
It was designed specifically to deal with Leviathan.
According to what I’d heard, even a juvenile Leviathan was several hundred meters long—basically a literal sea monster.
Let me repeat that, because it’s important.
Even as a juvenile, it was several hundred meters long.
Some even said a fully grown one could reach a few kilometers.
Based on what Ailynn told me, Leviathans might actually be smarter than humans, and they usually avoided attacking heavily armed ships.
Usually.
If one did attack, there’d be nothing to do but pray to the gods.
Yeah… not very comforting.
Dear God, dear Buddha, dear big-breasted goddess who reincarnated me into this world—
Please, please let this journey be Leviathan-free!!
…Unfortunately, it seemed my desperate prayers went unanswered.
“““““““!?”””””””
Everyone’s eyes went wide at once.
From beneath the ocean, an impossibly massive shadow emerged—slowly rising above the surface and revealing its full form.
The crew, myself included, were frozen in shock.
Death felt imminent.
But giving up would be too soon.
I’d spent the past month and a half completely focused on shipbuilding.
I’d watched closely as the ship took shape piece by piece.
With help from the dark elves’ blueprints, I had a solid understanding of the ship’s structure.
In other words—even if the ship took heavy damage, as long as it didn’t fully capsize, I could repair it with Perfect Regeneration.
Maybe because I’d explained that ahead of time, the crew didn’t panic too much.
Sure, Saki and Hek passed out with tears in their eyes…
But Michaela and Kuura immediately took charge, barking orders and getting people into position around the massive ballista.
Everyone was ready for battle.
“Ailynn!! We’re all set to fire the ballista anytime!!”
“Hmm~ I don’t think we’ll need it~”
That’s when Ailynn said something strange.
Even with a Leviathan right in front of us, she said there was no need to fight.
Was she backing down?
Had the all-powerful, alcohol-fueled Ailynn finally met her match?
As I wondered that—she casually pointed at the Leviathan’s body and said:
“Look over there.”
“Huh? —Wait, what!? The top of Leviathan’s head is… gone!?”
“Probably got its skull bitten open by something. It must’ve tried to escape into the sea, but ran out of strength.”
“W-What do you mean something ate Leviathan!? What kind of monster does that!?”
“No idea. But… those bite marks… I feel like I’ve seen them somewhere before…”
Ailynn tilted her head in thought—and that’s when it happened.
Something small burst out of the water, following the shadow of the fallen Leviathan.
It was… a beautiful girl.
She looked around thirteen or fourteen, a bit young, but her long, sun-colored orange hair shimmered brilliantly, and her wide golden eyes—stretched open without a hint of reason—held no trace of intelligence.
She carried the air of a wild beast.
Everyone on the deck went wide-eyed the moment they saw her.
But the real shock was—
Bounce!!
Despite her small frame, her chest was unbelievably huge.
H-Holy crap!?
How does someone that size have Rosemary-tier knockers!? What kind of growth spurt is that!?
“Gyahahahaha!! It’s dead!! Finally dead!! I freaked out when it kept moving even after I bit off its head!!”
The girl let out a crude laugh while standing on top of Leviathan’s corpse.
Her entire presence felt unnatural—almost wrong.
Everyone held their breath, sensing how out of place she was.
Judging from the situation, she was probably the one who had attacked and eaten Leviathan.
And if that girl—who had enough power to kill a Leviathan—turned her hostility toward us…
Just imagining it gave me chills.
“Ailynn, w-we need to get out of here. Now!!”
“Oh, no need for that~”
“Huh?”
“Heeey!!”
For some reason, Ailynn started waving both arms energetically, trying to get the girl’s attention.
Everyone froze in horror.
“W-What are you doing, Ailynn!?”
“It’s fine, it’s fine~ Just leave it to your big sis~”
“Wait, what!?”
And then—the girl noticed us.
She squinted in our direction, spotted Ailynn, and suddenly lit up with a huge smile.
“Big sis Ailynn!! What are you doing way out here!?”
““““““Eh!?””””””
“Oh, that’s my little sister~ The sixth-born, by the way~ Cute, right~?”
““““““Whaaaaat!?””””””
I was more shocked by that than Leviathan showing up.
