Chapter 145.5 SS11 Christmas in another world 2
“Christmas has come around again this year.
“It’s cold!”
“Yeah, Minya.”
“It’s Christmas, Christmas.”
“Yeah, did you ask for any presents?”
“Nah, I feel pretty happy as it is.”
“You’re saying some pretty grown-up stuff.”
“Even I can’t stay six forever. I’m already ten.”
It’s been four years since then. How many Christmases is this now? Minya has grown quite a bit. Of course, Lania and Ciel have too. Time flies. It feels like I’m the only one being left behind by the passage of time.
“It looks like it might snow.”
“Yeah, it’s cold. Colder than usual, even compared to previous years.”
We all look up at the sky.
The clouds are moving as if to confirm the impending snowfall.
The chill we feel on our skin seems colder than usual.
“Look, it’s starting to come down.”
“Oh, Minya, did you know? It’s called a White Christmas.”
Well, in our language, it’s different, but yeah, it’s a White Christmas in Japan.
“I didn’t know. Sounds lovely, though.”
“Right? Because it’s Christmas Eve.”
“I don’t really get what’s so special about it.”
“Well, it’s for religious reasons, but we’re not very religious, so…”
“Whee, snow~! Snow, snow!”
“Snow, myau~~~”
Minya and Ciel run around the yard, like dogs in some sort of song.
Meanwhile, Lania snuggles up to me, taking my hand.
“Hehe, it’s lovely, isn’t it?”
“Y-yeah.”
Lania’s hand feels oddly warm, comforting. She’s been mature for her age since she was little, but it’s been especially noticeable lately. She’s quite assertive, and sometimes I find myself at a loss.
Minya and Ciel have calmed down a bit, but they’re still kids at heart.
“I wonder if you’ve thought about presents or something.”
“Even though you’re actually preparing them.”
“Well, the item box is convenient for hiding things.”
“Hehe, Ed-kun.”
This year, we’re planning to give hair clips as presents. We’ve ordered matching star-shaped ones from the capital.
“Merry Christmas!”
“Merry Christmas!”
Dinner begins. Some people go all out with Christmas traditions, while others couldn’t care less. Since we’re at a hotel, we’re doing something of an event. There’s fried monster meat and french fries laid out. Probably from the forest wolf we defeated recently. It’s a bit tough, cheap meat for the common folk, but there’s plenty of it, so it fills the stomach.
“Delicious!”
“It’s tasty.”
“Tasty myau~”
The three girls eat well again today. Eating well and exercising regularly, they’re healthy.
Here’s to another year of health and happiness.
