Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V4 Chapter 27
Chapter 27: “Another Home Visit, Huh?” ③
“Wow, gods sure are dry. And somehow… Tsukuyomi-sensei, you kinda give off the same vibe?”
“Well, yes. As a teacher, I do care about my students, and as a god, I keep an eye on you and the others… but beyond that, not really.”
Natsuki let out a laugh at how easily Tsukuyomi admitted it.
It was just that Amaterasu-Omikami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto were more friendly than usual—Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto was simply behaving the way gods normally did.
“Did I disappoint you a little?”
“Not at all. Humans aren’t that interested in others either, right? I mean, these days, it’s not so much that people care about others—it’s more like they only care about how others see them. Of course, not everyone is like that, but that’s just how it is.”
“You have quite a mature outlook for someone so young. But let’s leave that discussion for another time. Either way, the gods won’t personally step in to take out Shuten Doji. Besides, just as an example—if I were to kill Shuten Doji, it might end up causing unnecessary trouble. Some gods, bored out of their minds, might start meddling in things they shouldn’t. In the end, it’s better if the gods stay just disinterested enough in humans and the world below.”
“Well, there are gods like me who enjoy living among humans, though.”
Tsukuyomi gave a slight shrug.
Gods, demons… in the end, everyone just lived how they wanted.
Honestly, it was kind of enviable.
“As a god? No, as a teacher… or maybe more like a concerned older neighbor, let me give you some advice.”
“Alright.”
“It’s best if you stay out of Kyoto. Shuten Doji is strong—not just in terms of raw power, but because he has a lot of subordinates. They’re troublesome. Natsuki-kun, you’ve already been through enough hardships in that other world. There’s no need to go looking for more trouble now.”
As he said that, Tsukuyomi’s expression turned mischievous.
“But knowing you, Natsuki-kun… you’ll probably end up getting dragged into it and fighting Shuten Doji anyway.”
“…When you say it like that, it really doesn’t sound like a joke, Tsukuyomi-sensei.”
The two of them chuckled.
They continued chatting about trivial things, and before they knew it, about thirty minutes had passed.
“Oops, looks like I’ve kept you for too long. I actually have plans to drink at Gondo-sensei’s new place tonight, so I should be going now.”
“Thanks for the handouts! Tell Gondo-sensei I said hi!”
“Of course. He was worried about you, too, you know. —Oh, right.”
“Hm? What is it?”
Just as he was about to leave the park, Tsukuyomi suddenly turned back around.
“About the issue with Asuka Matsushima and the basketball club members that we learned about thanks to you and Miyako-san…”
“Oh, that. Yeah, I remember. So, what happened?”
“Asuka Matsushima has officially been transferred. Her parents have decided not to let her say goodbye to her classmates.”
“Yikes.”
“As for the basketball club, it has been disbanded. I do feel bad for the students who were serious about it… but it seems some of the parents had already started talking about it.”
“Oof.”
Natsuki had already heard about Asuka’s situation, but the official disbandment of the basketball club was truly satisfying.
For middle schoolers to neglect their studies and indulge in inappropriate relationships was completely unacceptable.
“Well, that’s how things turned out. I just wanted to inform you. Now then—have a good night.”
With those parting words, Tsukuyomi disappeared just as silently and effortlessly as he had arrived.
“Man, he’s as terrifying as ever. No doubt he’s stronger than susa-susa. I’d be dead in a second if we fought.”
Still unable to gauge Tsukuyomi’s true strength, Natsuki broke into a slight cold sweat. But he shook it off and headed home.
“I’m home! Got some doburoku, manju, and yatsuhashi as souvenirs!”
