Chapter 27.5: Interlude – “Just Another Day for Koume and Ginko, Huh?”

—While Natsuki was off having a grand old time with the kappa over in Tono…

“Teruko-chan! Let’s play!”

“Amaterasu-Omikami! Koume-sama has graced you with her presence! Now, hurry up and entertain me!”

Right in front of the Minazuki household’s main gate, Koume Lucifer and Ginko Aoyama were loudly calling out to the sun goddess—Amaterasu-Omikami, the guardian deity of Mukaijima City.

But before anyone could even come out to greet them, the space around them suddenly warped.

By the time they realized what had happened, they were already inside Amaterasu’s room.

“…Oi, no matter how much of a recluse you are, using divine power to teleport us against our will—isn’t that kinda overkill?”

“You could at least try getting some exercise, you know?”

Neither Koume nor Ginko seemed particularly surprised by this.

If anything, they just looked exasperated by Amaterasu’s laziness.

Meanwhile, Amaterasu remained sprawled out on the bed.

She lazily glanced in their direction before letting out a weak, exhausted sigh.

“…I did get plenty of exercise… That’s why I can’t move. I’m sore… My whole body aches.”

“A god getting muscle pain… is that even a thing?”

“Wait, what exactly did you do?”

Koume and Ginko took a quick glance around Amaterasu’s room, her tracksuit-clad figure lounging amidst the mess.

“Wow, this place is filthy.“

That was their first impression.

But what really caught their attention was how unusual it was for Amaterasu—who, despite occasionally stepping outside, had spent most of her time holed up indoors—to be sore from exercising.

Curious, they decided to ask.

At their question, Amaterasu let out a tearful sigh.

“Listen to this… Grandma Unkai hired an instructor to get me moving… and she was, you know, all ‘boom, bam, boom’—the whole package!”

“Huh?”

“What does that even mean?”

“And as if that wasn’t enough… the part of the house that Natsuki-kun destroyed the other day? They turned it into a gym and sauna. So now, for the past few days, I’ve been forced into a professional weight-loss program!”

“Sounds like a good thing, though.”

“A bit of exercise is good for you, y’know?”

“If I’m in pain from muscle soreness, then clearly it wasn’t ‘a bit’ of exercise! Ahh, even raising my voice makes my whole body ache…!”

“Can’t you just heal yourself with divine power?”

“It’s not that simple! If I heal my muscle pain, the muscles I worked for will just disappear too!”

“Wow. That’s… kinda inconvenient.”

As they got closer, a strong scent of pain relief patches filled the air.

She must have worked out really hard.

As a friend, Ginko wanted Amaterasu to take this opportunity to start going outside more.

It would be fun to play around together like they used to in their school days.

“By the way, you mentioned there’s a sauna. Mind if we use it too?”

“I think it should be fine. Right now, Grandma Unkai, Kaya-chan, and Jessie are in there, but you two should have no problem getting in.”

“…Even the head of the Minazuki family is using the sauna, huh?”

“Just between us—since she’s retired from active duty, she’s been gaining a little weight around her stomach. So she’s doing the Jessie Program along with her.”

“Doubt she’s got nearly as much belly fat as you do.”

“Fuhahaha! I’m the only one who’s completely out of shape!”

“If you’re gonna cry about it, don’t say it in the first place.”

Koume and Ginko casually threw in their jabs before heading toward the sauna.

The Minazuki family members and Jessie, whom they were meeting for the first time, welcomed them warmly.

After chatting and getting to know each other in the sauna, the five of them—now practically friends—dragged Amaterasu along and headed straight to Alphonse’s diner.

There, they hit it off with the Norn sisters in no time, cracked open some beers, feasted on Chinese food, and ended up having an impromptu girls’ night out.

This chapter had a nice and relaxed vibe.

Koume: “…………”

Ginko: “…………”

Koume: “…………The Norn sisters were insanely beautiful.”

Ginko: “Yeah, no kidding.”

Koume: “…………I always thought I was the most beautiful in the world, but… I completely lost this one.”

Ginko: “And there are three of them, too. Since when did Alphonse-san become the protagonist of a light novel harem?”

…Or so the story goes.
