Chapter 54: “Isn’t This Comeuppance?” ①

“Wait, Seishiro-san! I was deceived! I had no idea he didn’t share your mother’s bloodline!”

“…What did you just say?”

“Even you must be shocked, right, Seishiro-sama!? What next head of the family? He’s the son of some woman your father had outside the family!”

“Akemi… you didn’t know?”

“…What?”

In a desperate attempt to get closer to Seishiro, Akemi revealed Reo’s true parentage, but Seishiro only looked more surprised.

“Reo is a child Father brought into the family, so I’ve known since I was young that we didn’t share the same mother. You’re a childhood friend, yet you didn’t know? Or did you not even notice?”

“How could I have noticed? You and your mother never showed any signs!”

“Of course not. Reo is Reo. It doesn’t matter where he came from; he’s my brother. I’m sure Mother raised him with the same feelings in her heart.”

“W-What?”

“In fact, everyone working in the house knew this. We made sure Reo never found out, but what baffles me is how you didn’t know anything.”

With Seishiro’s calm explanation, Akemi was left opening and closing her mouth, trying to say something but unable to find the words.

Natsuki, sensing the perfect moment, began waving the “Zama” fan.

“But none of this should matter to you.”

“Why would you say that!?”

“That’s my line. When I lost the spirit sword and was no longer the heir, you told me it didn’t matter. You said you loved Reo regardless of status and wanted to be with him. You told me not to stand in the way of your happiness, didn’t you?”

“T-That was…”

Following Natsuki’s lead, Senju and Yusuke also started waving their fans.

“What is with you guys and those fans!? I’m being serious here! Stop fooling around!”

“You’re the one who needs to stop! I’ve kept quiet because this is Seishiro’s family business, but after dumping him for his pudding-haired brother, having a child with him, and now trying to crawl back to Seishiro—it makes no sense at all!”

“Shut up, kid!”

“No way, you ugly witch!”

“W-What did you just say?”

“Why are you acting so surprised? You’re seriously ugly! Not just your personality—look at your face right now. It’s terrifying.”

As Natsuki said, Akemi’s face had contorted into an ugly expression. 

It wasn’t about her physical appearance—it was clear that she only cared about herself, with no consideration for Seishiro, Reo, Taeko, or even her own child. 

Natsuki couldn’t think of a better word to describe her than “ugly.”

“I’ve met all kinds of people since I came back here, but you’re by far the ugliest. You’re on par with people from another world! You should be proud!”

“Stop mocking me! Ginko Aoyama insulted me earlier, but even though the Kazama family is new, it still holds power! I don’t know who you are, but you’re just a middle schooler—I can deal with you easily!”

“I’ll crush your whole family! Bring it on!”

As sparks began crackling around Natsuki, clearly fired up, Ginko and Koume quickly restrained him and started dragging him away.

“Wait, I haven’t punched that witch yet!”

“Why’s Natsuki-kun so mad all of a sudden!?”

“Look carefully, Seishiro was trying to say something, but he missed his chance and now he looks all dejected!”

“I don’t care! I want to punch that witch!”

“What’s with you all of a sudden!? Don’t act like a child, please!”

“You were so cold to your self-proclaimed childhood friend and supposed step-sister, but now you’re losing it over this ugly woman!?”

“W-Wait, you called me ugly!?”

“You don’t even come close to me!”

Akemi, offended by being called “ugly,” overreacted, but quickly fell silent when Koume glared at her.

While Akemi was attractive, it was clear she hated being compared to Koume, whose mysterious beauty and model-like figure made her stand out even more.

“—Madam! Seishiro-sama! I apologize for interrupting while you have guests, but an urgent letter has arrived from the Kazama family!”

Just as Natsuki, and even Senju and Yusuke, were nearing their limit, a servant from the Kanna family appeared, clearly flustered.

After bowing deeply to Natsuki and the others, the servant handed the letter to Taeko.

Since it was marked urgent, Taeko politely said, “Excuse me,” before reading the letter. 

After a moment, she turned her gaze toward Akemi.

“Akemi-san. This letter is from your father, the head of the Kazama family.”

“W-What does my father say!?”

“He says he’s disowning you.”

“…What?”

Not only Akemi, but everyone present widened their eyes in shock.

“Zama has arrived!!”

Natsuki shouted excitedly, even though he wasn’t entirely sure of the reason.

Susanoo-no-Mikoto: “Ah, Susa-Susa? Yeah, that’s me, the so-called figurehead leader of the Institute, Susa-Susa. So, get this—your daughter? She’s picking a fight with my best friend. Yeah, my best friend. My super best friend. We’ve been best friends since the moment we were born. Actually, we were probably best friends in our past lives, too. So if she’s gonna disrespect my best friend, your whole family better be ready to face the consequences. Huh? Why do I keep saying ‘best friend’ over and over? Does that matter to you?!”

That was something Susa-Susa might have said a few minutes ago… or not.
