Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 48
Chapter 48: “Isn’t the Miyahara Family Worried?”
Kazuto Miyahara was getting ready to head to middle school when the house phone rang. His mother answered, and Kazuto heard her let out a shocked gasp.
“—I see. So, it’s today.”
Not many people knew that Kazuto’s older brother, Yuto Miyahara, had passed away recently.
His death was related to spiritual matters, so their parents, being regular people, couldn’t know the truth.
Kazuto himself had only found out by a series of coincidences. Had he been in his parents’ position, he likely would have been just as shocked by the sudden news.
Kazuto didn’t feel any sadness over his brother’s death.
Yuto had tried to kill him, and even their childhood friend, Natsuki Yura. In the end, Yuto had been consumed by his own power, leading to a self-destructive death. To be honest, Kazuto felt relieved when he saw his brother die.
He’d known since childhood that Yuto was popular with girls. In fact, Yuto had even made a move on Kazuto’s first crush.
And it wasn’t just her—Yuto had a habit of stealing girls who liked someone else, whether it was Kazuto’s friend Natsuki Yura or other childhood friends. His quick moves left not only Kazuto, but also their parents, speechless.
Yuto wasn’t interested in normal relationships either.
He indulged in building a harem, enjoying the attention and power it gave him. Their parents had been worried that, at some point, Yuto might get someone pregnant.
Even when his parents scolded him or others were jealous of him, his brother never changed his ways and just did whatever he wanted.
Kazuto couldn’t help but think it was for the best that he was gone. After all, he did things his way right up to the very end, so he probably had no regrets.
“Kazuto, I need to talk to you.”
His mother called out to him in a slightly lower tone than usual, and he turned around.
She looked sad, her face twisted with grief, but at the same time, there was a faint sense of relief.
(Just how much trouble did he put our parents through? For them to feel relieved at his death… he really was a piece of trash.)
Kazuto could only imagine how much his parents had suffered, even if he didn’t know all the details.
No matter that his brother was only a middle schooler, it was unforgivable for a parent to be forced to make such a face upon hearing the news of their child’s death.
“Yeah, what is it?”
“It’s about your brother… He passed away. Apparently, it was some kind of accident.”
“Accident?”
“Yes. He was riding his bike down a hill and fell. He hit his head badly… He caused trouble right up to the end.”
The police must have handled the details of the cause of death.
Ginko Aoyama, who dealt with spiritual matters within the police force, had promised to take care of it. They made it look like it was his own fault, without involving anyone else, ensuring that it didn’t cause trouble for anyone.
Samael had also reconstructed his body, so when Kazuto’s parents saw it, they wouldn’t be shocked by its condition.
After that, Kazuto went to the living room with his mother, where they had a conversation with his father, who hadn’t left for work yet. But Kazuto couldn’t really remember much of it.
His parents went to the police, and Kazuto ended up staying home from school. That was it.
Later, while lying on his bed staring blankly, his phone buzzed.
Natsuki had sent him a message asking, “Are you okay?” More messages started pouring in after that.
Koume, Ginko, Jack, Nancy. Alphonse, and through him, Ren as well.
Amaterasu-Omikami, Mio, Miyako, Unkai, Seiun, and even Kaya from the Minazuki family.
From Aomori, Samatan, Mammon, and Yocchan.
Even Satan and Lucifer sent their condolences.
There was also a message from Tsukuyomi-sensei.
And despite not exchanging contact information, Kazuto even received a simple, “My condolences,” from God, which made him laugh.
“Thank you, everyone… for caring.”
He felt relieved that his brother was dead.
But at the same time, he didn’t like feeling that way.
Still, knowing that so many people were concerned about him made his heart feel lighter.
“My brother was awful, and no matter how much I look back, there are no good memories… But in the end, I’ll give him a proper send-off.”
A few days later, the wake and funeral were held quietly with only family members in attendance.
The only non-family members present were Natsuki and Haruko.
At first, Kazuto was worried that Yuto’s past girlfriends might show up uninvited, but not a single one of them came.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Kazuto will be absent from the main story for a while. Natsuki will also step out briefly to attend the funeral.
By the way, Anzu replied with, “It has nothing to do with me,” and Asuka didn’t even respond.
I apologize if any part of this was unpleasant.
