Chapter 25: “Isn’t That a Big Sacrifice?”

“Hun, huhu-nhun, after all, spring is for beer.”

“What are you saying? You drink beer all year round. At this rate, you’ll end up with a beer belly like the sun goddess Amaterasu.”

“Sorry, but I move around a lot unlike Teruko-chan, so I won’t end up like a barrel!”

“…How can you say such terrible things about a friend?”

Ginko Aoyama and Koume Lucifer were walking along the riverside, each holding a beer they bought from a liquor store.

Natsuki had gone to meet God and hadn’t returned even by nightfall. Haruko was worried, so they asked Lilith. It seemed there was another guy who was summoned to the same world as Natsuki, and he was now traumatized and isolated, so God had requested Natsuki to visit him.

Even the usually carefree Ginko and the wild Koume were taken aback by this event.

They asked Kazuto to cover for them, and after Ginko, Koume, Nancy, and Haruko had dinner together, Haruko left for her social dance class. 

With just the three of them remaining, Nancy told Ginko and Koume that Natsuki and the others had gone on a drive into space. Ginko and Koume were envious, exclaiming, “That’s so cool!” and decided to drink because it wasn’t fair that Natsuki was having all the fun. However, they didn’t have much beer in the fridge and didn’t want to drink Haruko’s share, so they headed to the liquor store.

As they walked, they enjoyed the sight of the cherry blossoms still in bloom and the night breeze. Nancy was engrossed in a drama.

“Still, why does Natsuki-kun have so many events every day?”

“And multiple events in one day. It’s too hectic.”

“It’s not like a light novel; he doesn’t need to rush into so many events.” 

“Exactly.”

Just a few days ago, they had heard he was living a normal life, and it was hard to believe.

After having such a tough time in another world, you would think he could relax after coming back. But since they were also the ones bringing events to him, they couldn’t exactly complain.

“Even so…” 

“Yeah, really.”

Ahead of them, they saw three young men fighting by the riverside like it was a supernatural battle.

One was swinging a sword, one was delivering powerful kicks, and one was controlling the ground.

“They’re not even trying to hide the fantasy. I mean, I don’t mind being noticed, but I couldn’t be that bold.”

“Wait, isn’t one of them Ren Kobayashi-kun?”

“Oh yeah, he’s that mammon-mammon guy’s friend. He’s supposed to be training with Alphonse. Why is he fighting by the riverside? Maybe they’re bonding?”

“No way, you can’t bond without a sunset.”

“Oh right, what was I thinking?”

The angel and the police officer laughed loudly, despite being sober, as if they were drunk.

“…Well, it’s good that they’re energetic, but they’re too noisy. Go arrest them, Ginko!”

“It’s not that easy to just arrest someone!”

“Use your authority! Authority!”

“If it’s about authority, wouldn’t Koume, God’s granddaughter, have more than me?”

“God is a god, but no one believes it. They just think he’s some suspicious guy with a bright aura.”

“Is it okay to say that about God?”

Ginko, holding a plastic bag with beer in one hand and the magic sword Hanako in the other, approached the three fighting young men.

“Uh, excuse me! Sorry to interrupt your fight, but you’re going overboard! Could you maybe move somewhere else or settle this with a game or something?”

“There are better ways to say that.”

The three fighters immediately stopped when they noticed Ginko and Koume.

“Oh, it’s Lucifer-san and Aoyama-san.”

“Who?”

Ren Kobayashi recognized them, but the other young man tilted his head in confusion.

Then,

“Ahhh, Ginko Aoyamaaa!”

The man holding the old sword called out Ginko’s name and rushed towards him. His speed was beyond that of a normal human.

“Wait, hey?”

Although Ginko was quite well-known as a skilled user of the spirit sword, she couldn’t fully respond to the man’s attack. 

By instinct, she stepped back half a step, avoiding the man’s sweeping sword. However, the cans of beer in the plastic bag were slashed open, spraying their contents everywhere. 

To Ginko and Koume, it sounded like the beer was crying out, and the liquid looked red as it scattered.

“”My Beeeeeeeer!””

Sad news: Twelve 500ml cans of beer were sacrificed.

Meanwhile, Natsuki.

Natsuki: “—I see Earth! It is so beautiful!”

Senju: “Apologize to Gagarin on your knees! Why are you acting like you said it first?”

Natsuki: “Well, Gagarin-san never saw the Earth from a spaceship with aliens.”

Senju: “That’s not fair!”

Just a little longer until they return to Earth (main story).
