Chapter 17: “Time to Settle Things?” ②

In the evening at the park, Natsuki and Senju were waiting for Jack and Nancy to arrive. 

Initially, Natsuki was hesitant about introducing Senju to the couple. 

Though Senju wasn’t the one who tried to dissect Nancy, he certainly had a hand in the matter. Anyone would be angry if humans were nearly dissected by aliens, and the reverse would be just as true. After all, no life should be taken for granted in this world.

However, Senju expressed regret for his actions.

He had been friendly and engaging with both Natsuki and Yusuke. At the very least, Yusuke was definitely grateful for Senju’s encouragement. 

It’s hard to say Senju is a good person, but he doesn’t seem evil either.

Thinking this, Natsuki wanted to leave it to Jack and Nancy. 

If Senju’s presence would remind Nancy of her fear and Jack of his impatience, it might be better not to meet.

The couple had moved past their previous troubles, and it seemed they might not need Senju’s apology. Yet, Natsuki felt it was hard to ignore Senju’s desire to apologize after spending so much time together.

Feeling guilty for potentially disturbing Jack and Nancy during their date, Natsuki decided to send them a message.

Natsuki shared his thoughts on Senju’s character, promising to take responsibility if Senju unexpectedly revealed a darker nature in front of them.

Needless to say, both Jack and Nancy agreed to meet with Senju. Once again, Natsuki was deeply impressed by the generosity of his close friends.

In the past, Natsuki was told by a court mage, who took an interest in him as a hero from a different world called Earth, to become their slave. This magician had demanded that Natsuki become a slave to breed and increase the stock of heroic blood, and once no longer needed, desired to dissect him. The moment that magician finished his absurd declaration with a smug look, he was cut down mercilessly. Additionally, Natsuki took care to also eliminate the magician’s apprentices to ensure no regrets remained.

If it were Natsuki, faced with the same situation and meeting Senju, he might have chosen violence. However, unlike Natsuki, the genteel Grey seemed willing to accept Senju’s apology, even though forgiving him might be another matter entirely.

A bit away from Natsuki, who was sitting on a swing, Senju stood nervously waiting.

He seemed almost desperate to reach for his e-cigarette but was trying hard to resist. 

Natsuki, unsure of what to say, simply watched.

As they were waiting, Jack and Nancy appeared in the park, looking like tourists with their casual attire and numerous shopping bags.

“Sorry, it looks like we made you wait.”

“We apologize for being late.”

It seemed Jack and Nancy were a bit nervous too. 

When Senju looked at Natsuki with a puzzled expression, asking, “Who are they?”, Natsuki responded, 

“This is the human form of the alien you’ve been wanting to meet.”

Realizing that the beautiful couple before him were the aliens from that time, Senju knelt down on the spot. 

Without waiting for Jack and Nancy to stop him, he pressed his forehead to the ground and apologized.

“I know an apology can’t fix everything, but still, I am truly sorry!”

Senju sincerely apologized. 

By the way, those who actually tried to dissect Nancy had their memories erased and were framed for a crime, leading to their arrest. They are confused as they don’t remember anything and are claiming innocence, but they are set to receive appropriate punishment.
