Chapter 16: “Time to Settle Things?” ①

After finishing the call with Lilith, Natsuki was greeted by Yusuke, whose nose was twitching with anticipation, and Senju, who chuckled and said, “You sound just like a salaryman.”

“Good job. Here, have some juice.”

“Thanks.”

As Natsuki took a sip of his fizzy drink and relaxed, Yusuke leaned in and asked, 

“So, what did Lilith-sama say?”

“Um, she said… maybe we should gather everyone.”

“What, really!?”

“Do you think it’s okay to take a picture?”

“Of course!”

Snap! Yusuke took a photo with his smartphone.

Senju peered over to see and chuckled at Yusuke’s overly posed face in the photo.

“…Wow, that’s quite a pose. You wouldn’t think he was the same guy who was too scared of another world to leave his room just a few hours ago.”

“He looks like he could sweep everyone off their feet at a mixer. Well, it’s good to see him so energetic.”

After sending the photo to Lilith right away, she replied, “Oh, what a cutie.”

If Lilith thinks he’s cute, that should be a good sign.

However, things won’t be sorted out today, so she asked for a few more days.

“For now, I’ll let you know when something is decided. Until then, try not to worry your family.”

“Yeah. Thanks, Yura-kun and Nanamori-san. Wait, that’s not quite right. We’re close friends now, so I’ll call you Natsuki and Senju. I’d like you to call me Yusuke.”

“Ah, okay.”

“He’s suddenly gotten very friendly. Well, that’s fine.”

Yusuke’s spirits are definitely higher than ever since they met, but that doesn’t mean his emotional wounds are healed.

In the end, Yusuke settled on calling them “Natsuki-kun” and “Senju-san.”

Natsuki called him “Yusuke-kun,” and Senju just used “Yusuke.”

They had only a few hours together, but they built a good relationship.

“Sure.”

“You’re welcome. Call us anytime if you need anything.”

“Thanks! For now, I’ll start by apologizing to my family. I might not be ready to go back to university yet, but I’ll work on that too.”

At first, Yusuke looked like a ghost, but by the time they parted, he had a bright expression.

Having been summoned to another world, this young man was physically and mentally exhausted, unsure whether it was reality or a dream, but now he felt a little relieved.

“Yusuke is a bit odd, but it’s good to see him feeling better.”

“Yeah. You’re right.”

“Okay. Now it’s my turn.”

“Huh?”

Natsuki looked at Senju, confused. Senju made a serious face and bowed his head.

“Let me make amends. I want to apologize to your friends from space.”
