Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V2 Chapter 29
Chapter 29: “Got dragged into it, huh?” ①
“…Finally, it’s quiet inside the house.”
Once Alphonse mentioned returning to the divine realm, Lucifer also declared he would return to the demon realm, dragging along Satan who was fully intent on staying, saying, “I’m not going back!”
With a sigh of relief, he took a moment to drink some tea.
On the kitchen table, the pasta sauce that Alphonse made, insisting it was a special treat, was emitting a delightful aroma. Lunch would be simple: just boil pasta and quickly mix it with the meaty tomato sauce in a frying pan.
Jack and Nancy said they’d be back for lunch, so he was looking forward to it.
“Oh, there’s a message from Kazuto.”
The message from Kazuto asked if he wanted to go out for lunch.
Reflecting on it, Kazuto and he often went out to eat hamburgers, beef bowls, or ramen. He had completely forgotten about it due to his life in another world, but once he remembered, it was like a switch had been flipped, and those days vividly came back to him.
“…But there’s the pasta sauce Alphonse made for lunch.”
“Kazuto, that’s the kid who was crying the other day, right?”
“Yeah. It’s a bit of a weird way to remember, but that’s right.”
“Then you should invite him. We might hide our true identities, but having a meal together should be fine. He’s met Jack and Nancy, and he knows Mama Haruko-san, right?”
“Of course. Kazuto often stayed over too.”
“Well, then it should be fine. Fortunately, since Satan-san and the others have returned, it’ll be okay as long as Koume-san doesn’t say anything careless.”
“You think so?”
For Natsuki, it’s a relief that Koume and Ginko are willing to accept Kazuto, but there’s a concern about inadvertently dragging Kazuto, who’s been living a normal life, into their unusual circumstances.
Kazuto, even more than his brother, possesses high latent abilities that could potentially awaken with just the right trigger.
What that trigger could be is unknown; sometimes, mere contact with non-human entities can serve as one. Koume is a powerful angel from the family of Lucifer, Ginko is a psychic, and Natsuki is a hero from another world.
“Look, I understand Natsuki-kun’s concerns, but if he’s that kid’s brother, he might awaken to his powers eventually, or he’s already deeply involved in the extraordinary. Sure, it’s best not to involve him with our side, but it also feels wrong to create distance between Natsuki-kun and him because of that. To someone unaware of the circumstances, it might seem like they’re being avoided. So, why not just keep interacting as usual, and if our side is accidentally revealed, just explain the situation? After all, there are allies and understanding people involved with our side who don’t have psychic powers. Don’t think about it too hard.”
“Ginko, shouldn’t you think about this a bit more seriously?”
“Nah, I’ve always been bad at thinking about complex stuff. Oh, but, just a heads-up, coming out with it suddenly can make you seem crazy. I tried telling a close friend in high school that I was a psychic, and I just ended up being treated like a weirdo and we drifted apart.”
“That’s sad!”
“It’s Ginko’s fault for coming out so suddenly!”
If Natsuki were to be asked by Kazuto, “Are you okay in the head?” he might actually cry a little.
However, he hates the idea of distancing himself from Kazuto simply because he’s involved with supernatural matters and doesn’t want to drag Kazuto into it.
Taking Ginko’s advice, he decided to continue treating Kazuto as a friend without change.
Natsuki replied with an invitation to have dinner at his place, wanting to introduce Kazuto to some people.
After a while,
“N-Natsuki-kun! There’s someone covered in blood! They told me not to call an ambulance but to bring them here, so I did, but do you know this person?”
“Alphonse-san!?”
Before Natsuki could do anything, Kazuto, caught up in the fantasy, had already brought in the injured Alphonse.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
It looks like Kazuto is about to dive into the fantasy world!
By the way, after becoming estranged, Ginko’s friend is now living in Tokyo as a college student. From time to time, she reflects on her past behavior towards Ginko, regretting it, but they have lost contact.
