Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V2 Chapter 28
Chapter 28: “An Assault, Perhaps?”
Alphonse Michael, along with Satan and Lucifer, left the Yura household, spreading his wings to report to his father Michael and Gabriel that he was not qualified as Koume’s fiancé.
While flying through the sky, having shopped to the brim with Japanese ingredients in an eco-bag for the Norn sisters, who were very interested in Japanese food,
“Hi there,”
a young man descended from above Alphonse.
“Wha—”
The young man didn’t just descend; despite showing no malice or hostility, he launched a sharp kick aimed at Alphonse’s head.
Alphonse managed to defend himself with his arm at the last moment, but this caused the ingredients in the eco-bag to fall, thankfully into a river below, ensuring they didn’t hit anyone. However, Alphonse was frustrated at the loss of the carefully chosen gifts and glared at the attacker.
“Who are you?”
The attacker was a young man in his twenties.
He had Japanese features, but there seemed to be a mix of other ancestries as well. His aura was different from Natsuki and Ginko, whom they had met earlier.
He was tall, over 180 cm, with long legs and a slender build.
Most surprisingly, he was standing in mid-air, a feat for a human.
“A psychic, I see. And a powerful one at that.”
“It’s nice to hear that from the son of the Archangel Michael.”
The young man gave a friendly smile, but Alphonse heightened his guard.
The reason for being targeted was unclear, but the attacker knew who he was.
He was dressed in black slim jeans and a black shirt, with slightly wavy black hair that reached down his back.
Upon closer inspection, his clothes appeared slightly dirty, and his black hair didn’t seem deliberately grown out but rather neglected.
His slender physique was merely a result of being thin.
“Are you eating properly?”
“To think an angel would worry about me, I’m flattered. I haven’t eaten much recently. But, you see, if I defeat you, I’ll get enough money to not worry about food for a while.”
“A hired hand, then?”
“I truly am sorry. I have no grudge against you. In fact, I’ve believed in and prayed to God at times. Yet, here I am attacking an angel… It’s regrettable.”
“If that’s the case—”
“I suppose you seem kind enough to say ‘stop’ or offer me a meal, but it’s too late. I’ve already made a contract, so my actions are predetermined.”
“—You’ve made a deal with demons?”
The young man merely smiled ambiguously, not answering.
However, Alphonse was certain.
Many demons place great importance on contracts and bind individuals to them, never forgiving breaches of agreement. Especially, if a human attempts to break a contract with a demon, not only the individual but also their relatives could be at risk of being killed.
Alphonse could have provided for the young man’s need for money or food.
Even from their brief interaction, it was clear the young man wasn’t inherently evil. There are those who use their psychic abilities to survive, and Alphonse didn’t see that as wrong.
“It’s a shame. To tell you the truth, I’m quite good at cooking. I would have liked to feed you.”
“I would have liked to try your cooking. But, I guess it’s just bad timing. Please, don’t hold it against me. Oh, and I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t resist. I’m too hungry to exert much strength, and I’d like to avoid causing any harm to the surroundings, so I recommend you go down quickly.”
“You can’t do that! I am the son of the Archangel Michael! You will be the one to face defeat!”
Alphonse, with his pure white wings spread, unleashed his divine power.
Though not as powerful as his father, being Michael’s son, he possessed considerable strength.
A sword, wrapped in flames, materialized in Alphonse’s right hand.
“Wow, as expected of an angel! Amazing! Then, I’ll do my best too!”
“―Hn.”
The spiritual power emitted by the young man was incredibly strong, unlike any human.
In ancient times, there were beings called heroes. He was as powerful as them, if not more so.
“Here goes!”
The young man kicked off the void and closed the distance to Alphonse in an instant, launching a kick.
His long leg whipped forward, approaching rapidly.
Alphonse swung his sword, intending to slice through the young man’s leg.
However,
“This can’t be!”
The flame sword was shattered by the kick, charged with the young man’s spiritual power.
“Farewell.”
The kick hit Alphonse directly in the side.
The sounds of breaking bones and crushing flesh traveled through his body to his ears. A delayed, excruciating pain spread throughout his body as if it were falling apart.
Alphonse was then kicked down into the river.
■
“He’s not coming up. I can’t feel any divine power either. He must be dead, right?”
The young man looked for Alphonse, who hadn’t surfaced from the river, but there was no sign of him.
He had kicked with the intention to kill, so it would be good if Alphonse was dead, and if he was just hiding, that was fine too.
“Sorry, angel. But I have my job to do. Alright! Time to switch gears. Now, I need to make the call and get paid. Tonight, it’s white rice for everyone!”
The young man bowed once towards the river and then turned his back.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
The young man is human. And he is quite strong.
