Non-Human Girls Are Fighting Over Me ~ Do I Get to Refuse? “Nope!” “No Way!” “Not a Chance!” “Absolutely Not!” - Chapter 58 & 59
Chapter 58: Wife Moves (Tuesday)
It’s Tuesday morning.
As if forcibly dragged out of a dream, my shoulders were shaken back and forth.
“Come on~ It’s about time you got up already.”
When I opened my eyes, there was Aki, in her school uniform with an apron, hands on her hips, looking down at me.
Still half-asleep, I mumbled, “Good morning,” only to be immediately met with a sharp retort.
“Good morning, my foot. Breakfast is ready, so hurry up and get changed, okay?”
Her tone was a bit rough, but it somehow felt like it was playing up a married-couple vibe, which was… hard to describe.
“Yes, yes…”
After getting ready, I sat at the dining table, where white rice, steaming miso soup, neatly rolled tamagoyaki, and natto were laid out.
“Let’s eat~”
“Let’s eat~”
Our voices synced, and it sounded oddly like a newlywed morning, which made me feel strangely embarrassed.
※
Then—
“Yawn~… Good morning~”
Towa walked into the living room with a completely natural expression. She opened the fridge and pulled out a blood donation pack with a red label.
Piercing it with a straw, she sipped noisily and said, “I’m in the mood for B-type today~”
“Good morning.”
“…Good morning.”
Aki and I responded, each with a different tone. An indescribably awkward silence settled over the table.
The sound of Towa slurping blood lingered unnervingly in my ears.
※
“I made you a bento, so don’t forget to take it, okay?”
Aki said casually while sipping her miso soup.
“Oh, thanks.”
I replied instinctively, and the naturalness of it scared me.
“…”
Towa, silent, chewed on her straw, her eyes darting between Aki and me.
And so, with this strange atmosphere lingering, the three of us headed to school together.
—Tuesday morning was only just beginning.
※
After school, at the Ienari household.
Standing at the front door, I muttered to myself, “I didn’t sleep much yesterday, so I’ll turn in early tonight…”
Mumbling this, I took off my shoes and opened the door.
“I’m home~”
My voice echoed down the hallway, and a cheerful reply came back from deeper inside.
“Oh, you’re back~ Welcome home~”
Of course, it was Aki.
The “waiting at home” vibe she’d already mastered was oddly terrifying.
“Yeah, I’m home~”
(Sigh… I’m already used to this.)
My mind was already full of internal retorts, but I kept them off my face.
Aki poked her head out from the kitchen, still in her apron, arms crossed with a small smile.
“Dinner’s ready. I laid out your change of clothes… and when you take off your stuff, put it in the washing machine, okay? I keep telling you not to toss in socks or underwear inside out.”
(Wait… we’ve only been living together since yesterday, right? Why does she sound like we’ve been at this for years?)
Of course, I didn’t voice that retort either.
※
Sitting at the table, tonight’s menu caught my eye.
Steaming rice, miso soup, glossy mackerel cooked in miso, and vibrant kinpira gobō.
“Let’s eat~”
“Let’s eat.”
It’s simple. But that’s what makes it great.
(This is the stuff… This is what I’m talking about.) I nodded deeply in my mind.
“Yesterday was meat, so today’s fish. How is it?” Aki asked.
I took a bite of the mackerel, and the aroma of ginger and miso spread softly, making the rice impossible to stop eating.
“Delicious!!”
The exclamation slipped out before I could stop it.
Aki flashed a smug grin and snorted.
“See? Hehe, I’m a great wife, aren’t I? Hmph!”
(Damn… This is bad. She’s definitely got a grip on my stomach now.)
The moment I thought that, Aki, as if reading my mind, pointed a finger from across the table.
“Hmph… I’ll make it so you can’t live without me. You’ll see.”
Her breathing was heavy, her eyes dead serious.
※
All I could do was give a wry laugh.
“Haha.”
Chapter 59: Round Midnight ~Around Midnight~
After finishing dinner and soaking in the bath to wash away the day’s fatigue.
It was just past eight o’clock, but I couldn’t resist the temptation of my bed.
“Sorry, I’m turning in early tonight. Good night.”
“Yeah, I’m sleep-deprived too. I’m going to bed.”
Aki replied as if it were obvious, sliding into the same bed as if it were equally obvious.
※
…I didn’t even have the energy to retort anymore, so I surrendered to sleepiness.
※
And then—midnight.
The predictable chaos unfolded.
“Hey, wake up!!”
A furious shout in my ear. I groggily sat up.
“Uh, huh…?”
There stood Mio, arms crossed, radiating anger that could pierce the heavens.
“What… what’s going on?”
“‘What’s going on’?! I’m the one who wants to know!! Why is that woman lying next to you?!”
Her roar made the bed tremble.
“What’s with all this noise in the middle of the night…?” Aki muttered, exasperated, poking her head out from under the covers.
“Why the hell are you sleeping here?!” Mio snapped at her.
“What, again tonight? Give me a break~ I’m his wife, obviously. I’m sleepy, okay? Can you just drop it? Do you even know what time it is?”
Aki was completely in her own world, her voice half-asleep, like she was talking in her dreams.
“From now on, it’s my time!! The ones sleeping in this bed are Kazuto and me! Not you!!”
“Yeah, yeah, sure. Ugh… I’m done. I’m sleeping. I’ve got to get up early tomorrow. Good night.”
With that, Aki began snoring softly, completely checked out.
She was in full “do whatever you want” mode.
※
“Ugh… ugh… Kazuto, how could you… with her in your bed when you have me… ugh, ugh…”
Mio collapsed into sobs.
(Okay, that phrasing! It’s not wrong, but… nothing’s happened, okay? Saying that would just make this messier, so I won’t, but…)
All I could do was nod silently.
※
“Fine… let’s just run away together. Yes, right now!”
“Uh, yeah, sure. It’s pretty late tonight, so maybe another time.”
I brushed her off completely. My brain was half-asleep.
※
At that moment, Aki sat up from under the covers, her voice carrying the weary tone of a long-married spouse.
“Ugh, you two, can you keep it down and take this somewhere else? I’ve got to prep breakfast and make a bento tomorrow morning. I’m sleeping.”
With that, she dove back into sleep.
※
“…Can we just sleep now, please?” I said.
“Ugh… ugh… Fine, but only if I can use you as a hug pillow…” Mio sniffled.
“…Sure, do whatever. I’m sleepy…”
My resigned voice was the last sound as the clock ticked past two in the morning.
