My girlfriend's mother turned out to be my stalker - Chapter 4- The mother
It was ten minutes past eight.
Kei did his best to reach as soon as he could.
After all, this was the first time he was officially going to greet his girlfriend’s mother.
They have been dating for a year and it was about time he introduced himself to her family.
“Do I look good…agh.” he was wearing trousers and a plain shirt. It didn’t feel too formal but he was a little stiff.
He was carrying a box of cake. He didn’t have any idea what gift he should take so he just went with his senior’s advice.
Now, standing before the Kirihara residence, he took a deep breath.
And then,
*Ding* *Dong*
He pressed the bell.
There was a long pause before finally, he heard the click of the lock.
Kei was expecting to see his girlfriend standing there—but,
“Ah, Kei-kun. Come inside.”
It was her.
Sumire’s mother.
Kirihara Ayumi-san.
Her bright pink eyes matched the soft blouse she wore, the neckline dipping just enough to show a teasing glimpse of her cleavage.
Her sakura hair fell loosely on her shoulders, with a few strands falling around her face, making her look effortlessly beautiful.
Ayumi was in her mid-thirties, but thanks to regular exercise she had maintained a good physique and appeared much younger.
There was something in the way she stood, the way she smiled—it was warm yet tempting, making it hard for Kei to look away. She didn’t have to try; her presence alone pulled him in.
He soon shook off his daze and stepped inside, “Thank you for having me.”
The lady handed him a pair of indoor slippers before she said, “Come inside,”
Kei followed as he heard her saying, “Sumire was craving some ice cream so she went out. She will be back in a minute.”
Kei’s feet momentarily paused before he continued to walk.
‘Sumire…how can you leave me alone like this….’ He needed her the most now…
It wasn’t like he was meeting her for the first time…but still, the nervousness was there.
Actually, Kei had come across Ayumi several times in the past.
Kei likes to go for a run in the morning and Ayumi also goes for a walk. They buy energy drinks from the same shop and often come across each other.
And the weird thing, until recently, he didn’t know that the pretty lady he came across almost every morning was actually his girlfriend’s mother.
Such a small world…
“Do you have any allergies, Kei-kun?” The lady asked.
Kei instinctively reacted, “Ah, yes…I can’t have shrimps.” How laughable it was that he loves tempura but can’t have shrimps. It was as if his body was playing games with him.
The lady turned to look at him with a smile, “Luckily, I made tempura using some other fish.”
Kei blinked in surprise, “Did…Sumire told you that I love tempura?”
The lady seemed startled for a moment but then she slowly nodded, “Yes, she told me. She talks about you all the time.”
Kei felt slightly embarrassed.
He looked down at his hand and remembered, “Ah, yes…I brought this for you.”
Ayumi’s brows elevated as she took the box from him and then nodded, “We will have it after dinner.”
She brought him to the living area and urged him to sit down.
As Kei sat, he heard her saying, “I will bring you some juice. Wait for me.”
Kei just smiled at her and remained silent.
Once she walked away, he started looking around casually
This was the first time he came here.
The house was quite big for two people.
There are two floors, and the living area is bigger than Kei’s whole house.
The couch was so comfortable that it would take just a few seconds for him to fall asleep.
A wide TV was mounted on the wall opposite him. The antiques on the table beside the couch and the paintings on the wall told how financially stable the family is.
Sumire mentioned that she has never seen her father. He ran away after her mom got pregnant with Sumire at the age of eighteen.
Ayumi’s parents were in her support, so she was able to comfortably raise Sumire, and then Ayumi started her own work.
She is one of the top-selling authors in the fantasy genre.
Kei generally doesn’t read novels, but he had read her works and he was quite hooked. She knows her things.
How to make people invest in the story, leaving volumes on cliffhangers, foreshadowing events through such trivial things that one needs to go back and search for the hints.
She is a brilliant writer.
“Sorry for making you wait,” she arrived by his side while holding a tray of what appeared like orange juice and some snacks.
She bent forward to put the tray on the table. And just then male instincts kicked in
Kei’s eyes were drawn to the valley before him.
But he soon realized how bad it was to look at his girlfriend’s mother like that!
He instantly removed his eyes—completely missing the grin on Ayumi’s face.
