My Adorable Daughter Can't Be A Villainess - Chapter 10 - Worthless Woman
*Knock*
A knock broke the woman inside the room out of her reverie.
She looked up and said, “Come in,”
The door parted and soon, a maid stepped inside, her expression stiff.
The middle-aged woman with deep violet-hair hummed in question, “What happened, Caroline? You look quite tense.”
The other person wore a black skirt with frilly ribbon on her neck, a maid by appearance, gave a brief bow before she informed her, “I just received intel, my lady.”
The other person nodded, encouraging the maid to continue.
Caroline hesitated for a moment before relaying, “Young Master Eric had brought that woman to the church.”
For a moment, silence descended.
The other person froze in her seat. Her smile faltered for a moment. But then, she shook her head and asked, “Which woman are we talking about?”
The maid confirmed, “It’s that woman, My Lady, Chloe. The same person who tried to trap the young master.”
The other person’s smile faded, replacing it with a stern look.
She somehow dreaded this, but not now…not when Eric finally was showing some signs of moving on.
The woman, Angela Blackwood, had somehow convinced her son to go on a few blind dates with the women who were worthy to be a part of the family.
And just when one of them had started to show signs of becoming close to Eric…this happened.
The woman gritted her teeth in frustration. That characterless woman.
“What should we do, my lady?” The maid asked after a brief pause.
The woman took a few moments to regain her calm before she asked, “Has the church healed her?”
The maid didn’t have a clear report, “There is a high possibility. My people would reach out to the church and would let me know as soon as possible.”
Angela intertwined her fingers on her lap and looked outside the window.
She was regretful for planting that parasite in that woman rather than killing her right there and then.
But the question was, what exactly did Chloe tell him that he got convinced right away?
Eric wasn’t like that. He was a strict person who would rather pay attention to the present than worrying about his past.
“You said she had a daughter too? What happened to her?”
The maid informed her, “The young master picked her up from that slum this morning.”
“Eric already met her?!” The woman seemed shocked, “And he went there himself to take her?”
Eric was someone who would wash his hands at least thirty times a day if he had to shake his hands with those dirty bastards.
Someone like him going out of his way to that slum…
That could only mean one thing.
“He knows that she is her daughter.”
“But my lady, given how much I have seen the young master, he would rather live a responsible-free life where he could focus on his research and career.”
Angela chewed the nail of her thumb, clear frustration in her eyes, “That’s exactly what I am thinking. What happened to Eric? He was acting like the usual. He would have rather offered a bag of gold coins at most after knowing the truth.”
“Then milady, perhaps he wants to start a family with–”
*CLANG*
A base whistled past the maid’s head before smashing into the wall.
The maid staggered back, her face pale as she heard the seething voice of the woman,
“Don’t even dare to assume that my son would ruin his present and future with that worthless hoe. Eric is my proud son who has never made a single mistake except for that one time when that woman seduced my son.”
The maid bowed her head deeply and said, “I apologize for assuming something like that, my lady. Please forgive my impudence just this once.”
Angela was breathing roughly, her eyes wide in rage.
After a brief pause she commanded, “Keep an eye on them for the time being and report every single detail to me if something happens, even if you need to wake me in the middle of the night.”
Turning towards the window, the woman muttered, “I can’t let him make this blunder. My son deserves the best and that woman is nothing but a walking misfortune.”

*Sniff* *Sniff*
Chloe smiled meekly as she continued to softly pat her daughter’s back who was hugging her while sobbing softly.
Currently, they were in the room inside the church.
As much as Eric wanted the room, he didn’t do it to give Chloe and Charlotte some time alone. Chloe couldn’t be more thankful to Eric.
Chloe solely focuses on Charlotte right now.
Parting from her, Charlotte, once again, asked the same thing from the last five minutes, “Mother, are you really fine? It doesn’t hurt anywhere anymore?”
Chloe chuckled weakly, “I am fine, Char. The pain is gone. It’s just that I am just quite weak right now.”
Charlotte heard from Eric that a parasite was weakening her from the inside but now that the parasite was removed her body would heal itself in time.
The very thought of how much pain her mother must have gone through made Charlotte’s heart heavy.
“Char…did you talk to that man… Eric?” Chloe asked. More than herself, she was concerned about Charlotte’s future.
Charlotte looked up and nodded with a soft smile, “Yes, he is an outstanding person, Mother. He told me how you know each other and how he used to get along with you in the academy.”
Chloe blinked in surprise before asking, “Did Eric… not mention anything else?”
Charlotte appeared confused as she shook her head, “Besides that, nothing mother. Why? Was there anything else I needed to know?”
Chloe turned silent. Her daughter wasn’t someone to lie and even if she does, Chloe would have caught the lie.
That means, ‘Eric hadn’t told her that he was her…’
Was he actually doubting whether Charlotte was his daughter?
There could be no other reason.
Maybe Eric was unsure whether Chloe was telling the truth… or he doesn’t want to take responsibility for Charlotte without full assurance that she was her daughter.
Chloe’s knot in her heart toward that man which had loosened ever so slightly, pulled back tightly once again.
Eric Blackwood…as I thought, you are and always will be a bastard.
